forecast. amy: it is a little cold outside. we have a bit of a breeze, too. that makes it feel just a little bit colder. we will climb quickly once the sun comes up. we will see plenty of sun today. just a few scattered clouds this afternoon. our highs will be in the upper 70' s. we will be a little bit warmer than yesterday. right now, it is 43 degrees in silver springs. the villages at 46. lots of 40' s north and west of i-4. a couple of 40' s or the metro area. oviedo is at 53. it is 50 degrees in pierson. s, along the coast. that is due to a east breeze coming off the water. at the beaches this morning. happen. after a cool start, we will have sun. we will climb to the upper 70' s in our inland areas. let' s get a traffic update now. here is ted noah. ted: a crash on the turnpike in the groveland area. it is not quite at state route 33 there. a right lane is blocked, and it will be a bit slow. i-4 westbound is on the right here. in downtown orlando, it is looking good. that eastbound drive from john young parkway to colonial, no jason: this morning, a major road in downtown orlando will close for i-4 ultimate. michelle: garland avenue, from west colonial drive to marks street, will shut down for more than a year. wesh 2' s alex villareal is live at garland avenue. alex, how will this impact traffic? alex: well, michelle, the good news is that this section of garland is not a piece of the road that is used that often. it is not one that a lot of drivers rely on. it should not affect traffic all that much. starting at colonial drive, and extending all the way to marks street, that is the closure. it will be a long-term closure. it will be like this for over a year. it is all part of the i-4 ultimate project. f- dot says, it needs to be closed for a variety of reasons. that includes the construction of a new entrance ramp. your deep for recommendations hundreds of informational mailers were distributed in the area. if you will be out here today, you will see some cones and a road closed sign. 14 months is the current timeline, but that could be modified or extended if there are weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. the bottom line is to pay be filed in a deadly crash in daytona beach. police say, one man was hit and killed around 7:15 last night, near nova road and brentwood drive. we' re told the driver, who hit him, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. the victims identity has not been released. also this morning, several bikers are recovering after a nasty crash in sanford. jazmin walker is in the studio with how it happened. memorial ride to remember a friend, drive into the path of danger while going through sanford. at some point during that rally, a car hit one of the bikes. it happened not too far from the 417. witnesses say, the car was making a left turn, and it turned into the bikes pack. a man on the motorcycle was thrown about 40 feet, and is suffering from multiple fractures. he is critically injured, but is expected to survive. it woman writing on the back of the bike was also injured. others that were hospitalized are all in stable condition. troopers have not yet said if the driver of the car will be charged. jason: in momentum in central florida , after his second win on the campaign trail, -- campaign trail. tonight he will be in sanford, , after claiming victory in puerto rico, but as tracie potts reports, rubio is struggling to secure his home state. bernie sanders: people are not going to pay and water bill for poison water. tracie: both democrats want the michigan governor to resign. a recent poll shows hillary clinton with a 17 point lead there, and she is far ahead in the delegate count after last weekend. donald trump is topping pulls in michigan. marco one first lady nancy reagan. she died yesterday at her home in los angeles from congestive heart failure. andrea mitchell has a look at the today show' s coverage of her life. >> good morning nancy reagan , played such a large role in american history. not only as first lady, but as the political advisor and the ronald reagan. especially after the 1981 assassination attempt, only months into his suspended it' s search for a cruise ship passenger, who fell overboard off the florida coast. officials say 46-year-old david mossman fell from a deck of royal caribbean' s navigator of the seas on saturday. the coast guard says it covered more than 1600 square nautical miles in its search. died in california as a series of el nio-inspired storms hit the area over the weekend. emergency crew say one person died on saturday afternoon after their car went off the roadway and hit several trees. officials say a wet roadway and speeding contributed to the accident. another woman died, when the car she was riding in, drove into high water and became submerged. the driver survived. storms are expected in the area throughout the day. jason: it will be cool when you step outside this morning. you a busy local restaurant over the weekend. it happened when they responded to a trespassing call at mr. gyro' s in pine hills. luckily, no one was hurt. michelle: a marion county deputy set to go on trial today. this is in connection to the alleged beating of a suspect that was caught on video tape. jesse terrell is charged with civil rights violations. four other deputies have already pleaded guilty to the charges. jason: after winning yesterday' s republican primary in puerto rico, florida senator marco rubio is beginning the most important week of his presidential campaign. he desparately needs a win in his home state. he is bringing his campagn to central florida. after an appearance in tampa in sanford at a rally, set to begin just before 7:00 tonight. -- just before 8:00 this evening. the lions are off to a thrilling second season, after nearly losing their first game yesterday. michelle: if you left early, you missed out. brett connolly is in studio with the seeing mainly clear skies. as you get the kids to school, sunrise is just minutes away. we are starting to brighten up already. along the coast. it will be a bit cooler inland in the 40' s and 50' s. we had a couple of spots in the 60' s along the coast line, with that breeze off the ocean. safety seven degrees in melbourne. -- 67 degrees in melbourne. when you stack up those lows, compared to where we are supposed to be, we are a bit cooler than average. the lows will start to creep up this week. it is a cool start for sure. by the end of the week, are those will be in the mid-60' s everywhere. a big ridge of high pressure is building in today. that will be our dominant feature in the next couple of days. with the wind coming out of the east, it will of -- it will be a bit warmer than yesterday. we are seeing some clouds along the coast now, but they should 78 ri -- our high in eustis today. 78 in orlando and winter park. up and down the coast, we will be in the low to mid 70' s. 72 at flagler beach. 75 in palm bay. if you are headed to the beach, the rip current risk will be high. the surf temperature is coming up a little bit, but we are still in the mid-60' s with the water. we have a moderate chop out there. like week is underway as well -- bike week is still underway as well. daytona beach will top out at 76 degrees today. there will be lots of sunshine for all vacation in the florida keys. his brother wasn' t quite so lucky, taking home just $7. the brothers are from pennsylvania. this is the second big powerball win in florida in the last few months. a melbourne beach couple won part of the $1.5 billion jackpot, earlier this year. i sure do hope the brothers split both of those checks. michelle: that would be nice. jason: this morning, the orlando magic are in california. michelle: the team is taking on the warriors tonight. this is video from the last time these two teams faced off, in february at the amway. the magic lost that game in the closing seconds of the third quarter, when stephen curry launched a shot from the midcourt and banked it in off the glass. the tipoff for tonight' s game is at 10:30. jason: the wesh 2 all-stars played in their own basketball they took on annunciation catholic academy saturday night in a game that saw action from anchors meredith mcdonough, angela taylor and adrian whitsett. i hosted and announced at the event. they did not let me touch a basketball, and for a good reason. this was a fundraiser for the academy and knights of columbus charities and was a hard fought game. the annunciation knights took down the all-stars 112 to 107. great job by everybody out there. in our next half hour, marco rubio is rallying in central florida. michelle: why ucf is looking to build a in florida, and order to stay in the race. he now has 153 delegates, but that leads him far behind donald next up, the michigan primaries set for tomorrow. marco has been campaigning all over florida. he will be in tampa today, before heading to sanford international airport or his rally. the doors open to the event at 6:45. he will speak an hour later. here is marco rubio sounding very confident in his home state. marco rubio: i will tell you this, we will win the state of florida. we will beat donald trump there. brett: despite that confidence, polls have donald trump as the favorite in central florida right now. he held an event at ucf, where thousands packed into the arena. on the democratic side, hillary clinton has the lead over bernie sanders. she is favored in the polls run spotted at least eight bullet holes in the garage door of the home on moss park ridge drive yesterday. that' s east of the 417. approached the home on sunday, and asked for someone who lived there. when they were told that person wasn' t home, one of the men fired shots the garage. they ran away. no one was injured. deputies want to know who opened fire on them at a restaurant. last night, while responding to a trespassing call at mr. gyro' s on west colonial drive, near pine hills road deputies immediately heard gunfire. they reported it sounding like it was moving toward the front of the business and in their direction. deputies didn' t return fire. a manager tells wesh 2 the restaurant can get crowded late at night. grexit i am surprised, because a lot of people come at night good we are open late. jason: deputies say an suv took off from the restaurant right after the gunfire. they' re still investigating if that vehicle is involved. michelle: today a former marion county deputy goes on trial, in connection to this graphic video. five deputies were caught on camera back in 2014, beating a suspect they were arresting. one of them, jesse terrell is violations, jazmin walker is -- violations. jazmin walker is here with a closer look at the case. jazmin: the sheriff picked up the phone and called proper authorities after seeing this video. after the feds got involved, they determine that the suspect was not resisting arrest. four of the deputies have already pleaded guilty. deputy jesse correll was fired, and is now fighting those same charges. >> i was saddened by it. i was also upset by it. i did not leave that desk without immediately making a call to four law enforcement. that is how strongly i felt that they were outside the line. jazmin: correll is charged with kicking the suspect in the head, neck, and shoulders. he will plead not guilty, occurring -- according to his we will keep you updated on what happens in the courtroom. michelle: thank you, jazmin. funeral arrangements are under way for from her first lady nancy reagan. jason: nikole killion has the details. nikole: tribute was paid to nancy reagan, when she served as a caregiver to her husband, former president ronald reagan, when he died in 2004. she was close to her husband, and former first lady barbara bush. she said that she takes comfort in knowing that the reagans will be summer olympics are set to take place. here in florida, 48 cases of the virus have been confirmed, including cases in orange, osceola, seminole, and brevard counties. all of the cases are traveled -- travel related. michelle: a man accused of robbing a bank in daytona beach will go before a judge today. police say anthony carpino held up the wells fargo on seabreeze boulevard on saturday morning. they say, a customer followed him out of the bank, then found some cash outside the building. we checked with florida' s department of corrections, where carpino is also known as giovanni salletti. he melbourne. the big amateur difference due to the -- the big temperature difference due to the breeze coming in off the ocean in melbourne. that has allowed our temperatures tuesday a bit warmer there. as we head through the next couple of hours, our temperatures will climb. once we start seeing the sunshine, we will be in the 70' s by late morning. we will top out in the mid to upper 70' it will be a bit warmer than yesterday. a few more scattered clouds. temperatures will climb into the 80' s this week. by the end of the week, we will be in the middle 80' s. we' ll talk more about that, when i they are starting to slow down here, due to that accident. i-4 westbound is not so bad in around -- and around downtown orlando. michelle: new information today that ucf is closer to building a campus in downtown orlando. jason: this after a weekend decision from state lawmakers. brett connolly is here with the new developments. brett: good morning. both the university and orlando' s mayor are pushing. both believe it would revitalize a portion of the city. legislators have agreed to set aside $20 million for the downtown project. the total cost of the project will be around $75 million. currently, the school is undergoing fundraising efforts to reach that goal. to cover additional expenses on the campus, it is more than any other university in the state. the florida board of governors just last week approved the school' s plans for 68 acres in parramore. the new campus will serve 7700 students, coming from ucf and valencia college. the plan now goes to governor rick scott, who has been opposed to school construction projects in the past. legislatures also set aside 70 million -- $75 million for state charter schools. michelle: in just a few hours the volusia county council will hold an emergency meeting that could decide the fate of a statewide fix for juvenile detention costs. the bill would evenly split the cost of detaining juvenile offenders between the state and county governments. however, 22 counties are disputing those costs and a senate official is requiring all of them to agree on the bills terms before it moves ahead. volusia is the last holdout, voting last thursday not to drop their claims against the bill. if they change that at today' s meeting, senate leaders will forward the measure to the house. jason: this morning, dozens of stray dogs rescued from miami are here in orlando, waiting to find their forever homes. michelle wacker and her poodle and pooch rescue group was notified of the problem in the redlands. she decided to take a trip down there, and she returned with 52 dogs. her goal is to get every dog the care it needs. >> after they had been in foster homes for a while, they will be ready for adoption. jason:
