we pray for all the people involved in this investigation and for those who are suffering." bob kealing, wesh 2 news. jim: the church has paid millions of dollars to settle suits filed by baker' s accusers. the orlando-area clergymen now charged are expected to be returned to pennsylvania for arraignment in the coming days. late breaking tonight. we' ve just learned the 15-year-old accused of hitting and injuring an orange county sheriff' s deputy has been charged as an adult. jancarlos ortiz is facing three charges attempted second-degree , murder with a weapon on a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries. sergeant marcy pearce says he hopped into a car and rammed into her when she tried to arrest him on burglary charges last month. meredith: a firestorm destroyed a central florida landmark. firefighters spent the day putting out hot spots as investigators try and figure out what started the blaze in cocoa wesh 2' s angela taylor joins us in the studio with new fire. angela: well, the fire destroyed the former home of publishing mogul al neuharth. tonight the cocoa beach fire chief says its all-wood construction could be a reason the fire was so big. take a look at this video. earlier today, chopper 2 flew over the estate called pumpkin center. a 10,000 square-foot home with everything from a treehouse with running water to 12 bathrooms once stood where this pile of rubble is now. frank vega: the thing was an old, wooden, kind of a hunting lodge. and so there was, you know wood , decks across the entire top of the house, huge decks. that obviously contributed to what happened. fire chief: it means a lot to me personally, to all of us in cocoa beach especially the re just hoping to get some really adequate information that helps answer some hard questions. angela: last night the home along the atlantic burned for hours. it was built in 1975, and this is where neuharth made plans for his innovative newspapeer, "usa we' for close to $5 million after neuharth died three years ago. bobby pella who lives nearby captured this drone footage, showing smoke still rising from the ashes. the fire chief says looking into the cause could be a very extensive investigation. jim. jim: thanks. the greater orlando aviation authority unanimously approved plans to build a new south terminal at orlando international airport. the $1.8 billion complex will service international and domestic flights with 16 to 24 gates and a six-story parking garage. the project will be paid in part through grants, bonds, the airlines, and a passenger fee you already pay on every ticket you by. t control if airlines raise its prices because of this. >> at this point, we are already 2000' ticket. that will remain the same. the collection period gets jim: airport leaders have no control over the prices if airlines raise their prices. construction is expected to begin in 2017. meredith: a local man who had been facing charges of manslaughter for a deadly shooting back in january, is now out of prison. investigators say 22-year-old tonney mccants had legal justification to shoot marquis grooms at the kensington oaks apartments. the state attorney says grooms had assaulted a woman living in his apartment. orange county deputies tell wesh 2 they' ve arrested the victim of a home invasion. investigators say two men burst into a home around midnight on conway road last night. they shot and killed a dog and stole a car. so far they haven' t been caught. investigators who were called to the scene arrested michael magie. they say he was keeping cocaine, pot, and a stolen gun inside his house. jim: just one day after donald trump claims victory over senator marco rubio in florida, governor rick scott is endorsing trump. the message was posted on the governor' s facebook page and may come as a surprise to some people who thought the governor was trying to distance himself from the billionaire. wesh 2 political reporter greg greg, this comes right after scott' s appearance on an msnbc program was cut short for dodging questions about trump. greg: exactly. he was on a program last week and was asked if he thought all muslims hate america, after donald trump was recorded saying, "i think islam hates us." in fact, rick scott was asked not once but four times to answer that question. each time rick scott started rambling on about jobs or something else to the point where the hosts of the program cut off the segment and told the governor of florida he could take his mic off and leave the show. now, here we are the day after trump scores a solid victory in the florida winner-take-all primary last night, and governor rick scott had this facebook post. "with his victories yesterday, i believe it is now time for republicans to accept and respect the will of the voters and coalesce behind donald trump. this has been a hard fought primary, with an outstanding roster of excellent candidates, including two of florida' s favorite sons, and several republican governors who but the voters are speaking clearly. they want a businessman outsider who will dramatically shake up the status quo in washington. " the governor also reminds us he was a businessman, not a politician when he was first elected in 2010. he went on to say, "we have to elect a republican in the fall in order to grow jobs, rebuild our military, and put a person who respects the constitution on the supreme court." meredith? meredith: after last' s night' s announcement from florida senator marco rubio, many are now wondering, "what' s next?" he had a blistering defeat last night in the primary election. political experts seem to be pointing to the governor' s race in two years. given the fact that rubio lost to trump in every county except miami-dade, they doubt he' ll try to run for re-election this year in the senate. more than a quarter of registered florida voters didn' t get to vote in tuesday' s presidential primary. there are citizens that either 3.2 million have no party affiliation or are only registered with minor political parties. this means they cannot vote in the republican or democratic primaries. and yesterday, a lot of people t. >> some people get confused. they may have been npas, no party affiliation, so they may have expected that they could vote, but the fact is that florida law does not permit them to vote. meredith: florida has been a closed primary state for more it' s one of 28 states along with d.c. that use the method. jim: the search is on for two men, accused of robbing back-to-back businesses in orange county in just a matter of hours. the first happened on mercy drive, the second near the mall at millenia, 20 minutes or so away. wesh 2' s dave mcdaniel looks at why detectives believe the crimes are connected. dave: the security camera shows the man with the gun, demanding cash at the mercy market around noon the owner grabs her own monday. smith and wesson 38, telling him, i have a gun, get out of here. then police say she "fired a single shot at the suspect. the shot missed, but it made him take off, jumping into a blue minivan heading south." more than three hours later, at boulevard, a guy in a green shirt is the first in the door, a very similar looking guy to the suspect in the mercy market robbery is there as well. a worker says they "pulled a gun on him and ordered him to open the cash register, eventually grabbing the drawer and pulling out all the bills." brian ferarra: that second gentlemen from the subway who see come in and he' s wearing all black with a black hat, he appears to be the same gentlemen from the mercy mart. dave: and in both robberies, the getaway car was a blue minivan. brian ferrara: the chances of having two armed robberies to commercial establishments in that time frame with those descriptions, to us that pretty much tells us they' re going to be linked. dave: they want everybody to look carefully at both videos, the facial features, the way the men walk and carry themselves. police say anybody going to the -- if you have a security system, make sure it works and you know how to use it. and be a 69-year-old sharon gane is accused of forging a signature michelle-o-gram charity account to her own over the course of 16 months. she is charged with grand theft and forgery and is now out on bond. new at 6:00, rockledge police are trying to find the person on your screen. police say the woman used fake money to buy things at cvs off of fiske boulevard. a report says she even bought hair products and got a haircut with a fake $100 bill . in both cases she was seen carrying a large gray purse with tassels and wearing sunglasses. jim: the centers for disease control has published new guidelines urging doctors to avoid prescribing powerful suffering with chronic pain. the cdc says the benefits of drugs like hydrocodone and vicadin don' t outweigh the risks. health officials say painkillers are not the preferred treatment , and if prescribed, the patient should begin when the lowest possible dose. for short term acute pain, the cdc recommends only giving enough for three days. the cdc says 40 people die every day from prescription drug overdose. >> i think we are seeing a lot of people dying, taking opioids. if you look at the number of deaths, the increased last year and again this year. jim: the guidelines do not apply to active cancer patients or those receiving end of life care. kids stepping off of school buses are stepping into dangerous situations. meredith: the bus stops, but cars driving right next to them don' t. what one man is doing to remind drivers that this is breaking the law. jim: and a man who carjacks a woman this morning takes more than just by stopped school buses who were loading and unloading precious cargo. michelle meredith has the story. michelle: watching cars illegally pass school buses made one father very mad. >> it' s impatient people, and they don' t realize what could possibly be at stake by them disobeying the laws. michelle: so chad cartledge camped out at the corner of aloma and forsyth with cell phone in hand and caught car after car illegally passing stopped school buses. check out the white car. >> he decides i' m not going to wait anymore, so what does he do? he gets into the turn lane. he just guns it and michelle: chad noticed the vast majority of motorists were zooming by the stopped school bus to make a left hand turn, which by the way is also illegal. why do you think people think that left turn lane is fair game? >> it isn' t. there is no reason to think it is fair game. how the law works. if there is a school bus stopped in the road loading or unloading children, it is illegal to pass that 18-year-old is accused of carjacking a woman near deland early this morning, stealing her suv with her beloved dog inside. deputies say andre pomerleau ultimately crashed and was pulled from the fiery blow. meredith: you really get a sense of the impact and fire damage, looking at these pictures of the crushed and burned out vehicle once the fire was put out. jim: tonight sanford police will join members of the community, to try and make the streets safer. this is all in response to several recent killings which have not been solved. that includes the christmas week killing of a local grocery
