they are not looking for a shooter. they tell me they are talking to all of the parties involved at this point tonight. they are just trying to find out who started the altercation inside that tax office. chris hush, wesh 2 news. meredith: a teen is dead and another man is wounded in a shooting at an orlando apartment complex. police say 19-year-old jacob almond was shot and killed last night at the serrano apartments near conroy and kirkman roads. wesh 2' s michelle meredith spoke with people who live at the complex. michelle: investigators checked one apartment complex, then moved across the street to the next, trying to figure out how this double shooting played out the shooting that took the life , of jacob almond, only 19-years-old. >> it just seemed like boom boom , and then boom boom boom boom. it was like six shots . michelle: scot says from inside his apartment, he heard the shots. >> it was kinda scary. it was kind of scary. michelle: investigators say it started around 10:30 tuesday off cypress woods drive near conroy road. according to police, the victims, jacob all and and another man, were parked in a car about here when the gun fire broke out. >> the people who did it, you could tell it was execution-style. michelle: this man, who does not want to be identified, says he was a witness, says after the gun shots, he saw two men make a hasty exit in a vehicle. >> jump into it. slam it in reverse. and pretty much proceed to take off through the complex. michelle: the witness says he tried save one of the victims, who was lying on the ground. then he says he saw the two men, the suspects, barrel back through. >> proeceeded on cypress woods, and in the meantime, we heard two or more shots more across three the street. michelle: across the street is summer gate condos. police say one victim went there to get help. the double shooting and the death of a 19-year-old has rattled the sense of security michelle meredith wesh 2 news. ,meredith: police say this shooting is not random and would like you to call crime line at 1-800-423-tips. jim: charges against a central florida man who is accused of starting a fire that killed his stepson, have been dropped. luis cruz was arrested in polk county in september. at the time, investigators thought he intentionally started a fire inside a mobile home at the lake john motel near oakland that left one child seriously hurt and another dead. he was charged with arson and attempted murder, but now the state attorney' s office says there' s not enough evidence to move forward. meredith: a man is killed during a hang gliding training session in marion county. the sheriff' s office is investigating the crash which killed 40-year-old tomas banevicius around 6:00 in the evening tuesday night. it happened at the marion county airport in dunnellon where u.s. hang gliding incorporated gives lessons. the sheriff' s office says this was the man' s third flight of the day. ryan robbins: once he was up in 100 feet in the air, when the hang glider lost control. it is understandable a kind of guided to the right and went and impacted the ground. meredith: at this point they feel it is an accident but the the hang gliding school is based in new york, and they say county. closed today. so-called junk man is behind bars again. 61-year-old alan davis now faces felony littering and two misdemeanor nuisance charges. this all ties back to violations found on his property in take a look at this video from september. 70,000 pounds of trash was cleared from davis' home after crews were here for nine hours. after the clean up, the case went to the state attorney' s office and a warrant was issued. davis was arrested today during a traffic stop. also new tonight, human remains found buried outside a local home have been identified. investigators believe dennis paisley home since about thanksgiving. a medical examiner used dental records to identify the body. lake county deputies say this is just a death investigation. just how jones died has not yet been determined. meredith: a pair of suspected thieves are in jail tonight after a months long investigation at disney world. minoska guillen and jake blair were arrested as orange county detectives were canvassing disney' s saratoga springs resort late january. deputies say they believe the two may be responsible for more than 20 burglaries in the area , but so far they' ve only been charged in two. investigators think guillen and blair used unlocked sliding doors at the resort. some tourists say they already have a way to thwart thieves. chelsea heanssler: always take my stuff with me. in maine, i don' t have to worry about that, but i' m extra careful here. meredith: disney says it has added security patrols and its -- it is working with housekeeping to double check doors that tourists may leave unlocked. jim: new at 6:00 volusia county , deputies go to pull over a driver driving erratically only girl behind the wheel. it happened just after midnight on north woodland boulevard and poinsettia drive in deland. the child allegedly told the deputy she took her grandfather' s truck from their seville home because she was bored and apologized for driving illegally. there was no crash or injury connected to this incident. this is the second child driving incident in volusia county in just a few days. just yesterday on wesh 2 news at 6:00 we told you about an , 11-year-old who took his mom' s truck for a joyride wearing nothing but his underwear. he ended up crashing into another car behind new smyrna beach high school. meredith: new information s plans to come up with $75 million to help ucf build a downtown campus. mayor buddy dyer says part of the donation would involve the deeding over the building on livingston street where ucf already teaches digital media. in parking garage space for about 7500 students who will attend the creative village campus ucf will share with valencia college. until now, the development has reporter: was it stalled until the ucf component was added? buddy dyer: i don' t know that it was stalled but it' s like , everything else, it didn' t go as fast with the recession as we had hoped it would. meredith: orlando council will vote on the plan next monday. if approved, ucf still needs $20 million in state funding from lawmakers before it can begin building. jim: we have new video tonight of a fire that consumed a mobile home in deland. you are looking at video from a camera on a firefighter' s helmet. you can see there is a minor firefighters arrived and opened the door to the home on dover lane. this happened yesterday morning. three people were able to get out, but their dog didn' t make it. state fire marshall, the fire is not believed to be suspicious. the think there might have been an ineligible -- electrical issue in the house. a 23-year-old deland woman died after losing control of her jeep in deltona overnight. investigators say savannah noriega was driving south on providence just before 1:00 this morning when she lost control and slid across the road. a yard on giles street. she died at the scene. meredith: customers at multiple restaurants in greater orlando and daytona beach may have had their credit card information compromised or stolen. landry' s inc. announced that criminal hackers breached private information of credit card customers during two at risk windows of time in 2014 and 2015. at the oceanair seafood room at pointe orlando, that period is march to november of last year. customers are concerned. >> police say they arrested cristie cook and johnny cook. last week they posted this a purse from the photo counter at the walmart on malabar road. the pair apparently put it in a shopping cart under some other items and walked out. jim: employees at two sprint stores in seminole county spent the day cleaning up after crooks break into both of them. the stores are just a few miles apart, one in 17-92 in longwood, the other on red bug lake road near oviedo. right now, you' re looking at the crime scene in longwood. the thieves used a brick to bust that glass and then took a couple of iphones. a storm employees says surveillance video of six or seven guys taking part. now to the mess left behind at the store in oviedo. the theives broke in through a side window. investigators say they stole headphones. caught on camera, two women are seen shoplifting at an orlando walmart, but were able to get away. this is the video taken sunday kirkman road. store security observed the women shoving merchandise into their purses. workers closed several exits to corner the women, but when they a knife, jabbed the knife toward workers and both women ran away. ,meredith: all new at 6:00, palm coast' s deputy fire chief was in the right place at the right time this morning when he heard about an elderly man who fell into a swimming pool. jerry forte was driving nearby when he heard the emergency dispatch call. he rushed to the scene, and jumped into the pool to save the man' s life. the victim was breathing when they rushed him to the hospital where he is now recovering. his boss says forte at the merritt island airport earlier today. brevard county fire officials say there was a malfunction with the landing gear. there were two people on board, including a test pilot. he tells us they landed on the grass and slid up onto the runway. >> trying to minimize collateral damage. you know we knew we were gonna , be fine, but to make sure not to knock runway lights down or hit parked airplanes. meredith: no one was hurt and , the pilot said that everyone involved worked together. jim: nice job. meredith: burglars are downright bold these days, breaking into auto dealerships taking cars, cash, even a computer. jim: winter park police have yet another case to solve at a used car lot. meredith: they took the keys and gail: winter park police say the bad guys got inside this business by going through the window, which held an ac unit. so when you got here this morning, what did you see? >> i see that two cars was missing right here, and the most exotic car was parked right there. gail: all that' s left are the tread marks of this 2008 bmw m3, which was stolen along with two others, a 2012 bmw and this mercedes benz suv. the high-end cars were taken from world transsport of winter park on clay street. the owner says the bad guys also took all of the keys to the rest of his cars, and he found this key to one of the stolen ones on the ground. >> the worst part is, i sold those right there. and now the customers come in to be get up at 3:00 today, and i called him saying the car is stolen. gail: expensive diagnostic equipment and cash were also taken from his small dealership during the burglary around midnight. are checking to see if several recent burglaries at used car dealerships are connected. they' re going back three months , including three burglaries on west fairbanks, one on january 30 and two on january 6. >> i don' t know at this i point. thought winter park a safe place, but not anymore, i guess. gail: winter park police did january 30 burglary at liedca auto sales on 2250 west fairbanks. jim: daytona beach commissioners are talking about homeless people at a meeting tonight. on friday, police broke up a homeless camp in the heart of downtown, after the salvation army offered additional beds for those in need. but the short term costs for helping homeless people have skyrocketed so city leaders are , thrilled that an alliance of big business owners in the area raised $100,000 to help. situation immediately with the hopes that the city and the county can sit down working together, create a long term goal. jim: that check, along with another from the local lodging and hospitality association, will be presented tonight and the homeless problem is expected to be a hot topic. nasa is showing off the space capsule it says will one day take astronauts to the red the orion pressure vessel was unveiled at kennedy space center this morning. during exploration mission 1, the unmanned orion will travel just beyond the moon and back in three weeks. that is expected to happen in 2018. the ultimate goal is for orion to take astronauts to mars in the 2030' s. meredith: tony mainolfi here now. a warm day, a warm night
