Community. 3 after sheriffs deputies turned up to replace the fence yesterday. Abeles office called for a temporary restraining order against clarke. A judge sided with abele enforcing normal hours at sherman park. But the fence remained overnight. Then around 12 30 this afternoon parks employees removed it Sheriffs Office is responsible for patrolling the parks and restoring order. Happening less than 24 hours after about two dozen Milwaukee County sheriffs deputies re installed the fencing as a way to control the parks operating hours. This park is located directly across the street from where a bp gas station was burned during that huge unrest we saw about one month ago. Park was not a part of the problem and it was time for the fencing to go. Also feeling that the sheriffs actions show disrespect to the community. Heres one woman we met who was barbequing just before crews started the tear down. And we feeling like we in jail. Were surrounded with orange fencing. Today Milwaukee County executive chris abele explained his criticism of the Milwaukee Common Councils new saftey plan. To cbs 58s david ade. Ade. He joins us now live from downtown. David. Its pretty clear abele doesnt like what Alderman Bob Donovans committee came up with i spoke with abele about this today out at labor fest. First he says the recommendations in the report will cost couple hundred Million Dollars between the city and the county. And abele says he doesnt know where that money would come from without raising taxes or Cutting Services somewhere else. Abele says the most report is that it implies the solution to crime is locking more people up and says thats not acceptable when wisconsin has the highest percentage of African Americans behind bars in the united states. The implication of all the recommendations in the Public Safety Committee Report would result in more African Americans being incarcerated. And thats not something i support at all i think its asinine. 3 i called Alderman Bob Donovan this afternoon to see if he wanted to respond to what abele sa has no comment today.
