One day after a federal judge ordered he be released while his conviction works through the appeals court. Wisconsin attorney general brad schimel asked for that order to be halt. Halted. Cbs barbaresi has been following this story and joins us in the newsroom tonight. 3 the attorney general will appeal the decision to release dasseyin the mean time. He filed a motion to keep dassey locked up pending that appeal. And he wants a decison by 4 pm tomorrow. The same judge that overturned Brendan Dasseys conviction back in august, ordered that the 27yearold to be released brad schimel is appealing both of those rulings and says until that process is complete dassey should stay in prison. In the motion, filed late tuesday afternoon, schimel argues the judge cannot order dasseys release because the judge already haulted the order to overturn the conviction such that no relieft can may be grantedand while the judge pointed to dasseys nearly spotless prison record as an indication there is minimial risk to the public. Schimel disagrees arguing dassey confessed to extremely violent offenses, and dasseys a serious Public Safety issue. Schimel also highlights the negative impact dasseys release will have on teresa halbachs family.
