Seeing boats out there. Rowers out there. Its a spectacular day. Look at the blue skies. Had patchy fog early this morning thats since burned off. Interesting to look at worcester right now. Its nice and clear. Five years ago, not only worcester, but everywhere, we n it was a hurricane. By the time it got here, it was a Tropical Storm. A quarter Million People without power for several days. It was hot and humid after the storm went through. More importantly, it was the heavy rain we saw in western massachusetts, vermont. It took weeks, if not months, to get bridges open to parts of vermont. Record setting floods in those areas. It ended up being the seventh most costly hurricane in the United States. It wasnt even that big of of a storm. It never got much more th as it moved along the coast, it was category 1 across the carolinas and moved over us as a Tropical Storm. Its path put it to the west. Thats a typical path where you would see heavy rain on the lefthand side president wi. The wind on the righthand side. Most of us remember as a breezy rainstorm coming through. If you were in western marks the water came pouring down in buckets. The river level grew dramatically in a few hours. Today. Three systems to talk about. This we call invest 99. Very disorganized. Isnt getting its act together. Likely wont even become a Tropical Storm. The moisture is going to be tracking into the gulf of mexico. Thats not good news. Remember how bad the flooding was in louisiana . They could pick up more rain from this one. The strongest rain is in the atlantic. This is gaston, a fullfledged hurricane. It dropped down to Tropical Storm status yesterday. All computer models indicate it will be heading threat around here. The interesting one to watch is this one. It has no name yet. But it is about a 40 chance of becoming a tropical system, according to the National Hurricane center. They are watching this area. Its not that far off the carolina coast. If we put computer models together, everything is indicating its going to be heading towards the carolina coast. This will be tuesday afternoon around 1 00. But if you look in our forecast, were talking about the wedge of cold air coming in. As it comes sweeping in, it will sea. If that cold air holds off, we could get some of the moisture lifting up into our area. But, again, were talking about not until late into the week if it even comes together. So keep an eye on the tropics this time of year. Always important. Over the city right now, partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. 70 degrees. Dew point is at 65. A little more humid than it was yesterday. But still, for this time of year, no the bad and a whole lot better than friday. Temperatures have warmed off morning lows. We have clear skies going on. To widen the vi see clouds to the west. Those clouds will be coming in here overnight tonight. With them comes a very slight risk that we could see an isolated shower. Not a great chance, but at least it is a chance and this week it is looking dry. Weve got a chance of seeing showers tonight. Another chance of seeing showers or a spot thunderstorm tomorrow, most of us will miss out on it. Notice the humidity and temperature. Behind it, cooler, drier air. This was the scene last night on main street in acushnet. A witness says the victim ran into the street after her dog when she was hit. No word on how seriously the woman was injured. The driver stayed at the scene. No charges have been filed. Looking for the cause of this raging fire on plum island. The flames devouring a home on 20th street. Crews struck five alarms to bring in help from surrounding communities. Everyone inside of the homemade it out okay. A firefighter suffered heat related issues. Doug more signs of a mosquito virus in massachusetts. A mosquito carrying triple e was trapped in king ston. There have been signs of the yarmouth. More than 100 mosquitos have tested positive for west nile. Antoinette this morning parts of New Hampshire Natural Disaster areas because of the worsening drought. That means more help will be available. Farmers in hillsboro, merrimack and rockingham counties can apply for emergency loans. Some say theyre worried about that, though, since thats money that they will have to pay back. A New Hampshire Cheerleading Team forced to change their fundraising plans because of the drought. Doug where theres a will, theres a way. Regional high school held a waterless car wash to raise money for uniforms and warmup suits. There are water bans in place so they came one a creative way to get the funds they need. We felt bad using the water from the town. We didnt want to take away from people because some people cant shower. So we just give people ious when they come here. When the drought is over in the spring, theyll come back and doug brilliant. I had one of those isolated showers at my house. I soaped up the car really quick. We have a water ban. Drove through it. Looks fabulous. You do what you can when the weathers like this. Innovative companies to pay to help their competitors become innovative, money that will be coming out of users pockets. Frankly, thats an expense and operating practice the taxi industry should have adopted years ago. State regulation that protects consumers safety is solid public policy, but we hope lawmakers will resist underwriting entrenched entities in Competitive Industries at the expense of customers.
