Police say a 13yearold was taken on the way to school this morning, trying toak Lawrence East middle school shortly after 7 00. The child was repeatedly assaulted for about two hours before finally being released. The victim then made it to school, contacted their mother, who in turn contacted police. The victim luckily was able to give a very detailed description of the assailant. Police later arrested probation with an ankle bracelet. He was arrested a short time later. I think to be safe, and with an abundance of cotton caution, i will ask Police Departments to review the list of ankle bracelets and review what level of threats there are. Reporter police this incident, mateo was not a sex offender. He will be arraigned tomorrow for kidnapping and aggravated statutory rape. The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
