Police say took place im shocked. Im really, really shocked for somebody to break into somebodys home, thats bad. Thats really bad. Reporter around 1 30 monday afternoon, police were called to the building where they found a 26yearold woman tie up inside, her toddler daughter with her as well. Police say two men posing as coned workers had forced their way into the home, sexually assaulting the woman and then robbing her. A neighbor who asked that we not show her face says she hear the woman screaming from the apartment, pleading for help. She calls to me in spanish. So i go to see you know, i let them know im there, can she open the door to come to me, no, she cant. She was incapacitated. They had her bound, and so then i called the police. Reporter its not clear how long the woman an her chiel were nz of the apartment with the men, but residents here say theyre uneasy, now unsure who to trust. Many now thinking twice before opening their doors to im a mom with children as well, and her and its just it was terrifying. Over the past two years weve counted about 15 homes, some of the homes that have been rent out by unsuspected renters. Lawmakers say scammers are now advertising rentals for these abandoned homes, sometimes even fixing them up enough to cheat renters out of thousands of dollars. Investigators telling us that they got a call and arrived to the scene around 1 30 monday afternoon to find the 26year old woman tied up with her daughter nearby. One neighbor who asked that we not show her face described hearing that womans cries for help.
