Chris and mary the last check the little girl the sole survivor the twoyearold miracle was in the serious condition. Meantime the manhunt continues for the man who police say killed her family. A massive search remains under way this morning. Michael sykes wanted for stabbing to death his girlfriend Rebecca Cutler along daughter and her other daughters but one of them is alive. James mathis is cutlers uncle. The kids was beautiful. The nypd guarded the scene of the crime last night where wanted posters hang outside. Police swarmed the hotel yesterday morning after a housekeeper found the mother and children. The nypd says they and sykes had gone to a deli earlier and when they returned to the ramada sykes initially stayed in the hallway. We find him going into the room about 8 50 in the morning and leaves about four minutes later so we believe thats when the attack happens. He then gets on a bus and takes it to the ferry. Investigators say sykes called a Family Member around 10 30 and admitted to the crime. Police knew of one prior argument between sykes and when cutler reported to police that sykes had taken her phone. Cutler and her daughters were temporal living in the hotel as part of the department of Homeless Services shelter system. The city now says the hotel will no longer be used to house shelter residents and starting today the city will offer Free Security to the other private hotels they work with. Meantime police are asking new yorkers to be on the look out for sykes. We want to get him very, very quickly and get him off the streets as fast as we can. Police initially said they found no criminal history of sykes or psychological issues as well. If you do come in contact with him do not approach him but call 911 immediately. Cbs 2 news. A massive search remains under old Michael Sykes wanted for stabbing to death his girlfriend Rebecca Cutler along with their four month old daughter malia and the oneyear old zia na and the other daughter miracle but she is alive. Last night the nypd guarded the scene of the crime the ramada inn in Staten Island where wanted posters hang outside. Police swarmed the hotel yesterday morning after the housekeeper found the mother and children. The nypd says they and sykes had gone to a deli earlier and when they returned he initially stayed in the hallway. We find him going into the room at 8 50 in the morning and leaves four minutes later believing thats when the attack happens. He then gets a bus and takes it to the Staten Island ferry. And admitted to the crime. Cutler and her daughters were living in the hotel as part of the department of Homeless Services shelter system. The city now says the hotel will no longer be used to house shelter residents and starting today the city will offer Free Security to the other private hotels they work with. Meantime police are asking new yorkers to be on the look out for sykes. We want to get him very, very quickly. And get him off the streets air conditioning fast as we can streets as fast as we can. Police said initially they found no criminal history of sykes or history of psychological issues. Anyone who happens to see him call 911 and do not approach him. It was supposed to be a relaxing vacation but it ended up being what many passengers describe as vacation hell on water. Some of those passengers lining up even hours before the cruise ship arrived here at the port. They say they were desperate to get off. Weve been on the high seas trapped in a room for 17 hours. It was like on a rollercoaster you cant get off of and you werent strapped in. The ship headed for florida monday after sailing right into a winter storm off the coast of North Carolina sending massive waves crashing right up against them. 150 Miles Per Hour winds, 40 foot waves. We didnt think we were going to make it home. The captain confining passengers to their rooms. We were at a 45degree angle at one point. The boys are holding onto their beds like this.
