She waited three hours to be the first one in on the holiday. It was worth it because i did not want to deal with the mess of everybody. And i want to get home for dinner. And a lot of shoppers buying suitcases. As we mentioned, a lot of the stores have already opened. They have been open since 6 00 last night. And all of the stores will open at 8 00 this morning. And we are seeing more visibility for parts of the area including greenwich, white plains. So visibility less than one mile. And thats usually when we see the advisories issued. The National Weather service has issued the advisory until 9 00 a. M. So dense fog advisory in effect. So keep that in mind. We are seeing radiation thal fog but as the sun comes out, everything will improve throughout the day. And talking about improvement, as the day progresses, we will see temperatures climb nicely. 57 degrees by noon. And 63 by 3 00 p. M. And warm by 6 00 p. M. When people will still be shop, thank you. This morning, a man is under arrest after a deadly hitandrun crash led to multiple collisions. Police say a driver killed a 56yearold woman getting many her car and then hurt nine others while trying to drive away from the the scene. Reporter pennsylvania avenue in East New York littered with twisted metal and broken glass, in front of a 99 cent store, we find one wheel next to the shoe of the first victim. A woman police say was struck and killed while trying to get in her car. Witnesses say they saw a man in his 20s driving this White Mercedes sedan hit her and try to keep going but several cars were in the way. He was driving and he hit her from the side. And then knocked her over the divider and caused the other cars to collide trying to gateway. Reporter witnesses say the driver wasnt finished yet. The crashes kept coming. And before it was over, six vehicles were piled up in the Chain Reaction. The first woman was taken to the hospital where she was proannounced dead. And paramedics worked on several more victims who had minor injuries. Your heart hurts for these people. Reporter she was up the block at the gas days and saw the suspect headed her way. He was running in the traffic like he was trying to get himself killed. He got hit by a car. He went down. Got up. Went back into traffic. And tried to get hit again. The driver has not been charged yet. Police say he tried to car jack at least one vehicle also as part of the get away. Police arent releasing the name of the victim until family members are notified. A water main break in new jersey left a neighborhood without water on thanksgiving. The main broke yesterday morning near lincoln avenue east. Dozens of homes lost water. Pressure. The man who jumped the white house fence as the first family was inside celebrating thanksgiving is expected to Face Criminal Charges today. The secret service says the man draped in an American Flag was available to vault over recently installed spike on the fence. He was immediately apprehended and taken into custody. A witness described what happened. I heard him take a deep breath, he was just like, all right, lets do this. It to himself. And just hopped over. He didnt make a running start. A march is planned today in chicago to protest the killing of 17yearold Laquan Mcdonald by a Police Officer last year. The march will be held along the magnificent mile, chicagos busiest shopping district. They want to focus attention on police brutality. French president Francois Hollande and russian president Vladimir Putin have agreed to tighten cooperation in the fight against isis. They met yesterday in moscow. Many Charities Many places of worship served thanksgiving meals yesterday including a church in harlem that did it with an upscale twist. The church looked more like a restaurant. The food was cooked by volunteers and served just like at a restaurant, complete with table clothe, menus and wait staff. Reporter about a quarter after 2 00 this morning, for some reason a truck was parked at the side of the road here under the overpass at 31st street, the Grand Central parkway. The truck parked to the side of the road, a black hyundai comes across the bridge and smashes into the back of that the truck. Two people inside the car are killed immediately. The driver of the truck is still here at the scene of what is now an investigation. Traffic has been diverted on to astoria boulevard heading toward Laguardia Airport. Again, two people died in a car coming off the bridge heading toward Laguardia Airport when they hit that truck parked at the side of the Grand Central parkway. Live in astoria, queen, cbs 2 news. An investigation is underway into a deadly hitand run crash that led to a wild get away attemp in East New York. Last night Police Arrested a man accused of hitting and killing a 56yearold woman who was trying to get in her car on pennsylvania avenue. Police say the suspect then caused a Chain Reaction crash involving three cars while trying to get away. And nine people were hurt. And the suspect took off on foot before he was arrested. Its a little dangerous. Temperatures will be above normal. We are excited about that. But we have a cold front headed our way. So be mindful of that as well. Thats probably not the best thing for me. And cooler temperatures by the weekend as the cold front slides through. And we do see those clouds break later today and temperatures for today topping out in the low to mid60s. And maybe a few upper 60s. Its going to be warm out there. Certainly above normal. The blimp operator says controlled landings happen occasionally when the weather changes but finding a wide open space like this one in densely populated Nassau County is easier said than done. The truck down there underneath 31st street overpass on the Grand Central parkway eastbound. For some reason, it was parked at the side of the road about 2 30 a. M. A 2014 black hyundai smashed into the back of the truck. Two men are dead. Two occupants of the car. The driver of the truck is still here at the scene of this investigation. Traffic is being diverted off the triborough bridge on to astoria boulevard eastbound. Thats going to be a problem. Looks like theyll be able to tow the truck out of here soon. Well this morning, an investigation is underway into a deadly hitandrun crash that led to a wild get away attempt in East New York. Last night, Police Arrested a man accused of hitting and killing 56yearold woman who was trying to get into her car on pennsylvania avenue. Police say the suspect then caused a Chain Reaction crash involving three cars while trying to flee. Nine people were hurt. The suspect then took off on foot before he was arrested. Charges are now pending. Police thunder sleet Morning Police are looking for a possible airiness in queens after another house went up in flame possible arsonist in queens after another house went up in flames. Its the seventh in a series of fires in area in the last month. Police say the fires are no accident. Three of the fires have been determined to be incendiary for sure and the others are under investigation. Its scary. You have no idea what it could be. The fdny is working with police to try to track down the suspects or suspect. The hunt is on for the man accused of raping a woman on the lower east side. Police released this surveillance video. And you can see the cold front pushing all those showers eastward but i just dont think theyre going to make it over the High Mountain range. So i do see a little bit of an issue there. And we are at a rainfall deficit but i dont think we will get too much on saturday. And High Pressure system affecting us in the sense that were getting an onshore flow fog. Out. To mid60s. Perhaps a few mid to upper 60s. And here is todays expected highs across the nation. Would not want to be in cheyenne for today because i prefer the hotter weather. 16 in se january. Thats the expected high. And 27 in billings. And denver, 18 degrees. But locally, 60s. And so conditions for tonight, 48 degrees, southwesterly is 5 to 8 miles per hour. And tomorrow, 54. So the cold front is just making its way in. Not affecting us. And not quite yet but look at this, by sunday and monday, cooler temperatures certainly overnight. A tiger is on the loose in mexico. The video was captured when the tiger hit a trip wire on a remote camera. The tiger escaped from a restaurant zoo a month ago. Yet again the dangers of a vehicle parked at the side of the road. Two men are dead here in queens traveling in eastbound on the triborough bridge on to the toward Laguardia Airport smashed into the back of the truck that was parked on the righthand side, underneath the 31st street overpass, the two men, their identities have not been revealed yet. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured. He remained at the scene and is now part of the investigation. Traffic now building coming off the triborough bridge eastbound, its being diverted on to astoria boulevard and thats going to be a problem for the morning commute. Again, two men have died as their vehicle smashed into the back of a truck heading eastbound on the Grand Central parkway. Live in astoria, queens, steve langeford, cbs steve langford. And heres the deal, the cold front will slide through and its not until it passes us once its east of us that we start to see the cooler temperatures. For some reason, about 2 30 this morning, that truck down there underneath the 31st street overpass eastbound on the side of the road and a 2014 black Hyundai Elantra heading eastbound as well behind it smashed right into the truck, car. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured. He remained at the scene for what is now an investigation into this awful tragedy. Traffic is a mess heading eastbound off the triborough airport. And traffic is being diverted on to astoria boulevard and then back on to the Grand Central. But again, two men have lost their lives when their vehicle smashed right into the back of that truck parked on the side of the road under the 31st queens. Thank you. Now to another story here. Police say the driver killed a 56yearold woman last night who was getting in her car and then hurt nine others while scene. York. Reporter pennsylvania avenue in East New York littered with twisted metal and broken glass, in front of 99 cent store we find one wheel next to the shoe of the first victim. A woman police say was struck and killed while trying to get in her car witnesses say they saw a man driving this white sedan, hit her and then tried were in his way. She was driving and he hit her from the side. Hit the lady and then hit her from the side and then knocked the cars trying to get away. Reporter witnesses say the driver wasnt finish yet. The crashes kept coming and before it was over, six vehicles were piled up in the Chain Reaction. The first woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. And paramedics worked on minor injuries. People. Reporter she was up the block at a gas station and saw the suspect heading her way. He was running in the traffic like he was trying to the like, literally get himself killed. He got hit by the car. He we want down, got up. Went back into traffic. And tried to get hit again. Charged yet. Police say he also tried to car jack at least one vehicle as part of the get away. Police arent releasing the name of the victim until family members are notified. New information about a wednesday night. Surveillance video. Police say he was spotted using it was a stolen credit card from the victim. The 26yearold woman was jogging in East River Park when she was attacked. The attacker took the victims bike. And this morning, police arsonist in queens after flames. Video shows one of the homes burning on wednesday night. Its the seventh of similar last month. Police say the fires are no accident. Three of the fires had been determined to be incendiary for sure and if others are under investigation. Very sure, and the others are under investigation. Very scary. The fdny is working with the police to try to the track down whoever is responsible. Police are on the hunt for three men in connection with a string of subway robberies in the bronx. This is video of the suspects. Police say they pulled three holdups along the number six line over 11 days. The latest robbery tuesday night at the east 149th street station. And police say the victim was leaving the northbound number six train when theman men pushed him and stole his cellphone and money. A security alert in belgium has been lowered as Officials Say the threat of a terrorist attack is no longer imminent. However the entire country remains under the second highest alert level. Yesterday belgian officials raided three places they say are linked to the terrorist attacks but didnt make any arrests.
