make sure that no one gets sick. the all-girls catholic school will be shut down once again today after legionnaires' back tearoff found in one of the cooling towers. it was found after the recent legislation was passed after the outbreak in the bronx that killed a dozen and left over 100 sick. the law requires all building owners have their towers registered and inspected. the school is in two mansions, and the principal said "while it was only found in small amounts and is unlikely to have infected anyone, we have closed the mansions this weekend to eradicate the bacteria." officials from the city released their own statement. ''its cooling tower's positive test result and subsequent disinfection, under score the importance the new legislation from just weeks ago." the school is expected to open next week. janelle burrell, pregnant, too, and they had to take her to the hospital for a checkup. she escaped from the hospital when the officer went to the restroom. >> essentially, she stole my identity. >> reporter: at first of 15-year-old girl walking near 15th street and belmont avenue when she was attacked by a man riding a bmx style bike. the girl an off and was not injured. six football players acaused in the >> right, john. traveling here, it's a look at the live drive speed map, and construction is blocking two lanes as you make your way southbound from armont road and the garden state parkway. in the city a look at one of hundreds of cameras, unfortunately showing taillights, and two lanes are blocked in both directions on the fdr drive, but the heaviest delays on the southbound side from 72nd street back to the 96th street. the inbound upper level has two lanes blocked for construction, and you're being held there. major delays approaching the toll, and sticking to the lower level, it's a smoother ride for you. the lincoln and the holland tunnels are better options, but outbound that has cleared. better news if you're clearing out of the city. remember, be safe, don't text and drive. back to you. we begin with the discovery of the bacteria that contains legionnaires' disease. >> reporter: a small amount of the legionnaires' bacteria was found here in the cooling tower of the school. the all-girls catholic school will be shut down once again today after a small amount of legionella bacteria was found in one of the cooling towers a the the convent of the sacred side. testing. one of the new requirements mandated by recent legislation after the outbreak in the bronx that killed a dozen people and left more than 100 others sick. now all cooling towers must be registered and regularly inspected. the school is in two former mansions, and the principal said = while it was only found in small amounts and is unlikely to have infected anyone, we have closed the mansions this weekend to eradicate the bacteria." the city confirmed they have taken action "its cooling tower's positive test result and subsequent disinfection underscores the important of the new legislation that the mayor signed just 2 weeks ago." now the school's principal says those cooling towers will be disinfected twice, and the school, according to their website is scheduled to open as planned next week. reporting live from the upper east side, janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. a hit-and-run caught on camera, police are looking for the driver from the bronx. the woman was knocked over by the gray honda. the driver stops, gets out of the vehicle, and moments later gets back in and drives off. police are looking to identify and locate him. it was the morning of august 19th in front of 525 jackson avenue in monthaven. the woman was hospitalized in stable condition. two hospital workers are facing disturbing allegations of abuse. kathleen culver and sarah dober were arrested on friday. they reportedly worked in an infant room where they force fed and pushed children to the ground. one 18-year-old vomited after being force fed. the investigation into the case continues. the city's deputy mayor overseeing homelessness is leaving the de blasio administration this month. she will become the voluntary chair board, the highest ranking departure on the de blasio board. new child seat regulations taking effect in new jersey. >> there's stricter requirements now for age and weight. ilana gold with the story. >> reporter: hannah breslin has 1-year-old twins and when she buckles them in, she always positions them away from the windshield. that's something the new regulations in new jersey require, and the changes start today. >> i think whatever is safer for the children i will follow. >> reporter: the rules mean all children under 2 who weigh less than 30 pounds have to be a rear-facing car seat with a 5- point harness. until now a parent could choose to have their 1-year-old face forward as long as they were over 20 pounds it will put less stress on the child's neck and spine if they are in a crash. >> they are 75% less likely to face fatality or injury in a crash. >> reporter: it's the requirements of the american pediatrics that have been out for years. >> the law is needed. >> reporter: the new law requires children between 2-4 years old up to 40 pounds to be in a rear or forward-facing scar seat with a 5-point harness. children 4 to 8 under 4'9" must be in a forward-facing car seat with a 5-point harness or a booster seat. police officers and firefighters are ready to help people comply. >> we give them the option of coming here to learn how to put their seat in their car. we like when people try it on their own, and then we can correct their mistakes. going beyond pluto. find out what is going on beyond these images. why some believe these railroad ties are a health hazard. the nypd on high alert for the pope's visit. how they plan to protect the city's trains and tunnels. what to take? ilana gold is live for us: >> reporter: the fire is on bryant avenue, by east east 172nd street, and in the last few minutes, crews managed to get the fire under control and the smoke and flames have really died down, but there's extensive damage. multiple homes down here are badly charred. we want to show you video of the fire. you cannot miss the flames shooting from the roof. it was just after 4:00 this morning. crews said it was initially in front of a garage and spread quickly. the flames torched part of the homes next door. all 16 tenants inside of the buildings just managed to escape. one of the tenants says he lost everything he owns. >> i looked out my window, and i seen the whole back like big fire, big fire, and i'm just upset right now a very difficult morning for the people who live here, and none of the tenant reported injuries, but one of the firefighters was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but they are expected to be okay. the cause of the fire is under investigation. in the bronx this morning, ilana gold, cbs 2 news. an upper east side school is closed this morning after bacteria responsible for the legionnaires' disease was discovered there. janelle burrell with more. >> reporter: chris, with the school scheduled to start next week, of course it's certainly cause for concern. the bacteria discover at the sacred heart school over the weekend. yesterday the school was shut down, and faculty had to move their scheduled meetings, and it will remain closed today. they are taking aggressive action, disinfecting the cooling towers where the bacteria was found twice. the outbreak in the bronx that killed 12 people and got more than 100 people sick is what prompted new legislation that mandates all cooling towers in the city to be registered and routinely tested. sacred heart is housed in two historic mansions and the principal said "while it was only found in small amounts and is unlikely to have infect the anyone, we have closed the mansions this weekend to eradicate the bacteria." the school's website says they will open on time next week, and there's been no reports of anyone getting ill after being in the building culver on the left and sarah dober arrested from the said-by-side daycare center. on several occasions they force fed, pushed, and slammed children on the floor. one 18-month-old reportedly vomited after being force fed. the investigation into the case is ongoing. the woman who escaped police custody on sunday night has been using another woman's name. the victim is speaking exclusively to cbs 2. tiffany neumann is still at large. she was arrested on saturday after skipping out on her restaurant bill, and then she stole items for a clothing store on an outside rack. she said her name was
