We should start to see drier air later through the day, the front is just starting to move through which is also picking up in wind. Were looking more at about 25 to 35 inland, even higher along the shore. The nbc news wall street journal survey of likely voters has clinton ahead 4937 . The poll also has clinton up. Three points in the battleground state of florida. New polls were taken before the bombshell audio of trumps comments about women and before his second showdown with clinton tonight. We have learned that governor christie and former new york mayor Rudy Giuliani are helping trump prepare for tonights debate. No specifics on strategy have been released. But we can tell you that as Speaker Paul Ryan said theres an elephant in the room, and its troubling. On twitter Vice President joe biden said trumps words are demeaning. And that such behavior is an abuse of power. Its not lewd side biden, its sexual assault. Governor mike pence has now released a statement saying i do not condone his remarks, and cannot defend them. Donald trump waved to a crowd of supporters in new york. Earlier he tweeted i will never drop out of the race. Will never let my supporters down. This despite dozens of republicans from across the country urging him to withdraw. Calling him a malignant clown, and tweeting they will not vote for him. He is simply not suited to be president of the united states. I cannot look my 15yearold daughter in the eye and tell her i endorse this person to become the president of the united states. For the first time this morning, were hearing trumps wife melania. She was pregnant in 2005, when trump bragged about how being a star gave him an edge in making advancements on married women. Former new york mayor Rudy Giuliani, a top Trump Campaign adviser, fiercely defends the donald. This was basically the insiders against the outsiders anyway. Donald trump is the populist candidate. Most of the people that have turned on him are members of the establishment. Giuliani added Republican Leaders who are now distancing themselves from trump never really supported him in the first place. And this morning giuliani is predicting that trump will win. Now secretary Clintons Campaign has not released a statement but we have learned, she gets the first question tonight from a crowd of undecided voters. And no doubt well be watching. Now one person we havent heard much from on this is Hillary Clinton. Her team has decided that she will hold off on making any comments about this latest controversy until the debate tonight. In the meantime, trumps crisis is providing her with some cover from a new round of challenging email disclosures. Hacked personal emails belonging to her Campaign Chairman reveal for the first time excerpts of clintons paid speeches in 2013, sent to her top ten paid officials. She promotes policies that would benefit wall street. A wellknown concern of her former rival, bernie sanders. But just yesterday in philadelphia, during a Campaign Stop for clinton, sanders defended her, just hours after those emails liked. Take a listen. More important and what is more interesting is this document which is the Democratic National platform. And this document makes it very clear that we are going to break up the large Financial Institutions in this country. Sanders acknowledged the problems both clinton and trump are having with voters, but said that clinton is the right person to help working families. Philadelphia archbishop charles fitzhue was believed to be on the pontiffs short list but was not chosen. Two of the american cardinals are from chicago and indianapolis, with the third reportedly from dallas. Most of the new cardinals will be eligible to vote in a conclave to elect the popes eventual successor. This morning we continue to track matthew. There is a live look from North Carolina. New this morning a man wanted in the shooting deaths of two Police Officers in Southern California is under arrest following an hours long standoff. The shootings happened in palm spring yesterday. Police say officers were responding to the family disturbance call when the man opened fire on them. The two officers killed were a 35year veteran of the force, and a mother who recently returned to duty after maternity leave. A third officer was wounded. Now to news overseas a Police Officer and a woman are dead after Authorities Say a palestinian driver opened fire near the Israeli Police headquarters in jerusalem. Six other people were hurt in the shooting. Police officers chased a gunman and shot and killed him. Back here in the u. S. , a tran crash in long island is under investigation after two trains swiped each other and a passenger train derailed. Take a look at the mangled mess. Another train caught fire 29 people were hurt in this. New Jersey Transit will resume partial Train Service at the Hoboken Terminal tomorrow. Some tracks will stay closed for repairs. You may remember that a week ago from thursday a train trash crashed into the station killing wipe on the platform and hurting more than 100 other people. Investigators say the train was going twice the speed limit when it crashed. Happening right now, rain or shine, and it is range, flyers fans are running through south philly for a good cause. Emergency crews say they had to rescue more than 550 people in fayetteville, North Carolina, overnight and four other people are still missing. Take a look at this video of one of those rescue operations. Crews were able to pull out three people to safety after their car got stuck in the floodwaters. Heres another rescue in fayetteville. Police officers found a mother and her baby stranded in their flooded car. Officers lowered a ramp to the car and grabbed the mother and child. Both are doing okay. Down south, people arent the only ones in need of help. Police and firefighters in florida pulled this bald eagle that flew into the grill of a car during the storm. They pulled the bird out. This morning the bird is safe at a wildlife sanctuary. Very different picture up here. Grateful for what we have. Meteorologist krystal klei has been tracking matthew and the effect on our weekend weather. You have a little bit of good news. You just had a viewer reach out to you . Yeah thats right. The viewer was in pottstown saying theyre starting to see some breaks of sunshine. Were not going to be dealing with anything like we saw further down south. Look at hurricane what is now post Tropical Cyclone matthew and what were looking at is still a fast system here. 75mileperhour winds. While the rain is not still falling, parts of North Carolina are still dealing with high winds as well as storm surge. This isnt through with the area. Its lost its tropical elements though. As it moves along what were seeing is that the track has shifted. As a result, literally pulling that moisture up this morning into our area. But the track shows that this system instead of dropping down to the south, starting today into tomorrow, instead will mostly just gradually move out to the east, monday through your tuesday. Thats a bigger track we just move that along for your 8 00 a. M. Update. It didnt change much from the 5 00 a. M. Update. Its going to move into the northeast. Out to sea. Now your nbc 10 first alert weather. Beginning with a live look outside philadelphia here, cameras a little wet because we still have some rain thats coming down. Also some low hanging clouds. Windy, as well. Because theres a cold front moving through. The reason were seeing the rain is two pronged. The cold front passing from west to east and the moisture thats pumping up from matthew. On your Doppler Radar its pretty obvious where you can see the heavier rain coming in from the south. The thicker moisture and a better chance for heavier showers. The cold front starting to cut off that rain as you look a little farther to the west. This is good news because as we move along this morning and in the early afternoon i think that cutoff line will continue to shift further along to the east, meaning more of us with a chance of some sunshine in that forecast. The heavier rain parts of delaware, especially in Sussex County and maryland. Then over the delaware bay right along the shore. But it has moved off the shore at this point that were seeing some of the yellows and oranges indicating that heavier rain. Wilmington stretching right to king of prussia, into trenton. More moderate to heavy rain although not likely that its quite as intense as what weve seen in delaware. Because of the rain weve been seeing over the morning hours. Watches and warnings in place. There is a Flood Warning through part of Sussex County, some flooding as a result of that. So if youre driving through delaware just a heads up theres going to be some washed out roadways. Hour by hour forecast. The rain starting to move out by 10 00 a. M. The model starts to cut it off right through parts of delaware, and the suburbs. But already were starting to see clearing in berks county through the lehigh valley. That will continue to move through your morning into afternoon. 12 30 now starting to cut off in philadelphia and even in delaware. Good news for that area. Isolated showers linger but otherwise the clouds move out and it looks like we should see a little dryer forecast for most of us with some sunshine.
