We are looking near cape may, and this is tranquil, and the temperature read iing is not ba either. No temperatures to speak of, and the shoreline is down near the rad radar. And showers are moving in, and we will see the shower activity happening now, and in extreme southern delaware and extreme southeastern parts of delaware and northwest of philadelphia, and some shower activity moving in, and a cloudy day for sure, and the overcast skies will stay with us, and wie relooking for showers across the region later this afternoon. Im karen thomtas, and i wil show you the showers we are tracking in parts of delaware and northwestern areas of philadelphia. And we are looking at rain heavier into monday, but hold on because the warmth is coming back into the picture midweek, and there is good news there, and 52 in philadelphia and the winds are calm, and warmer by 5 degrees this time yesterday. And now, we can look at 54 in philadelphia, and the clouds are persistent as the low pressure system is going to come in and get closer and closer as we move through the sunday morning. And now, 51 in allentown, and down at the jersey shore in the lower 50s primarily, and then 50 degrees in wilmington and 52 in philadelphia. And you can see the clouds here, and pushing south to southeast, and the clouds will stay with us. And if you are sikh the if you are seeing the peaks of sun coming through, you will see it is pushing up to the northeast, and we have shower activity pushing on and off through southern delaware coming in through the west of philadelphia, and we will see the rain associated there. The off on pattern is likely to continue through this sunday, and then coming into the latter part of the day in the evening hours, and we can be expected what to see in the afternoon hours, and the bulk of of the moisture is coming in overnight, and into monday morning, and so this is going to be early 11 00 a. M. , and 8 00 a. M. For the morning commute and kids going to the commute, you may need the rain slickers and umbrella, so hold on to that. And it is looking like a soggy day and maybe not a complete shield of rain all day on off, but some of it could be heavy at times, and the system will make its way out of here tuesday with the residual light rain coming behi behind, and we will have High Pressure for wednesday. This afternoon, we are looking at the clouds to hang around, and breezy conditions with the rain picking up a little bit out of the east, northeast, and 15 miles per hour, and cooler for the high temperatures. Tonig tonight, the on off showers will continue, and some of the rain could continue with temperatures in the 40s. The sevenday forecast, as we take it out for you, once the storm system is out of here by tuesday, wednesday is sort of the prize, if you will at a the end of it all, and we are looking for the sunshine on wednesday to dry out for sure, and very nice temperature of 73 degrees. On thursday, happy st. Paddys day. Yes, the prize is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, right, karen . The time is 9 19, and quick reminder to set your clocks overnight, because we moved ahead because of the Daylight Saving time, and while most of the cell phones and tablets make the switch, dont forget about the clocks in the kitchen and the cars. You have to do that as well. And now, some schools are having to deal with cuts to curriculum, and some schools are learning new ways to get around it. And a new class that is really striking a cord with students. Today, folks in philly are going to put on the green and get out there for the second oldest st. Patricks day parade. They are marching up the ben franklin parkway at noon and there is going to be floats and dance troupes and marching bands. If you are not going to the parade, there are going to be closures around the parkway, and akins oval, so keep aware of detours. And you know what they say, many of the programs have been cut because of lack of money, but a few of them have found a way to keep the beat going because of the generosity of others. And our responsibility matt delucia found one of those such classes. One, two, the classes begin at franklin learning center. It is the kind of class where the three rs are reading, writing and rocking out. That is how we pass the culture from one generation to another, and it is through learning music. Reporter music teacher Michelle Frank came to the high school in north philadelphia two years ago in harder times. I had one guitar for every three students in one 30person classroom. There was no other instrument. And with interest waning, there was an idea to go from something classical with something with a little bit more soul. A lot of the students want to play the music they know and love and want to the play with the guitars and the bass and the drums and instruments they are excited about playing. Reporter it is called the modern band which means that the kids learn to play the current hits. Little kids rock has been around for a decade. In that time, giving instruments ois to more than 30 students in 30 cities. I get so excited about the passion that kids are able to play the music that inspires them. I love it. Reporter anthony buoy calls drumming a passion, and one fueled only by the tools he needs, and something that the peers in other schools cant or wont have, because the money is not there. What do you think about that . I feel kind of bad for them, because there are a lot of kids that they have not found their passion yet, and sometimes high school is that point. The money is coming from donations. And without them, would the school, would you have been able to afford this kind of equipment . No. No. Categorically, no. I wa tnt to go the college for music, and so prepping for it is something that i have to be on the dime with. Reporter with every note and every beat the potential is there reporter taking the beat inside of the classroom and out. Everyday i get to the come here and do what i love. I could not ask for anything else. Reporter and now the Philadelphia School district is hoping to get the same program started in half of the schools in the city over the next four years. Not too many people out there on the beach, and not anybody out there on the beach, because we have wet weather with us for the next few days, and we will have the details in the first alert forecast. Im rosemary connors, and it is 9 30, and not 8 30 on this sunday thanks to Daylight Saving time. And we go over to karen thomas who has been watching the overcast conditions. And 52 in philadelphia, and the temperatures are not moving so much in the last hour. 5 1 in atlantic city, and mid50s in southern delaware. The radar is showing us the moisture, and where it is, and we are seeing the moisture going through sussex county, and now parts of interior southern jersey as well as north of philadelphia, and this is pretty much the weather picture for the day. And we are looking for the rain to become a little steadier as we move into the nighttime hours, and we will call it off and on spotty temperatures, and the temperatures in the main and upper 50s. Thank you. And police are on the munt for a man who stab ed a mbed a man to in rittenhouse square. Monique braxton has been there all morning long gathering evidence. And the fatal stabbing occurred right here 1th and le park where families gathers for the day, and people walk their dog or go to have coffee, but this morning they are met by homicide detectives going doortodoor and viewing surveillance tape that may have captured the fatal stabbing of a 24yearold bucks county man. That is one tool that the police are hoping will lead them to the killer. And Good Samaritan talked to us about how she tried to save him. Well, you know, i have a son the same able and you hope that they would be Walking Around nice neighborhoods, and i would think it is fine around here, and surprising. Reporter Police Located a shoe blopging to the victim at 9th and manning, and the clothing in which direction the killer ran. But the police have informed us that the clothing belongs to the people who were with the victim as well as the Good Samaritan who tried to assist. Unfortunately the 24yearold bucks county man died at hahnemann hospital. We will stay on top of the investig
