temperatures. 30 degrees in philadelphia. just 26 in allentown and 26 right now in lancaster and 28 in lantic city and right at the freezing mark in wildwood. that is the only spot at the freezing mark. every other place is below freezing. feels a lot colder than it is. feels just like 21 in allentown and feels like 21 also in philadelphia. feeling like 22 in millvale and these are the temperatures you want to address dress for as you head out this morning. a cold start to the day. it is going to be cold this afternoon, too. so by 11:00, mostly sunny skies and 37. by 3:00, 43. we'll hit a high of 44 right around 4:00 and then dip back down to the low 40s by 6:00. a pretty nice night for your saturday evening plans. mostly clear skies and temperatures dropping back into the 20s and 30s and that big warm up comes on sunday and how warm we're going to get and also tracking snow and rain by the end of the workweek. we'll talk more about that, too, coming up. >> michelle, thank you. breaking news in philadelphia gray's ferry section. crews are on the scene of a home that collapsed and one man had to be pulled from the debris. let's get right to nbc drew smith live at the scene for us. drew, what can you tell us? >> well, katy, good morning. i first want to show you. first, look at that two-story home what is left of it after it collapsed in on itself after 45 minutes ago. this is reid street at south patton avenue. right here this all began just about 7:45. neighbors telling us they heard a crack and came out and watched this building just cave right in. the next thing they heard was a man trapped inside screaming for help. they say he lives here with his twin brother and he was inside when the home collapsed. medics arrived and they were able to get him out of there. he was covered in dust, they said. but he was talking when they brought him off to the hospital. he is now at presidebyterian hospital. as we're live at the scene we see police, fire and gas and electric companies. they're working on this home right now. they want to make sure it is safe before people can get back into their homes in this area and they have this whole street roped off right now so people aren't walking up and down right now. an additional danger from the lines and electrical lines that are still running into this collapsed home. we'll check with officials and see if we can get an update on the latest that is happening here. >> all right, drew, we'll check back in with you. thank you. new from overnight, people are now back in their homes after this building was evacuated because of a carbon monoxide leak. officials cleared out the three-story homes that contains apartments in east mt. erie around 4:00 a.m. when our crew was there you can see the building's doors and windows were open to allow fresh air inside. two people and an adult were checked out at a nearby hospital. a philadelphia police officer is recovering minor injuries after he crashed his police car into a pole in winfield. nbc 10 was at the intersection at park side avenue where the crash happened just before 3:00 a.m. he was on his way to help another officer when he crashed. turning now to decision 2016. today is presidential primary day for the democrats in south carolina. voters are going to the polls with bernie sanders and hillary clinton facing off for delegates and momentum. the candidates made their final stump speeches last night. sanders and clinton took the stage at a fish fry, but at different times. the latest polls show clinton maintaining a double-digit lead over sanders in south carolina. here's some of what the candidates had to say. >> i need your help in this primary to be able to go out of south carolina, to go to those states that aring their primaries and caucuses on tuesday so-called super tuesday. >> i am here to ask your support. i am here to ask you to help me change the priorities of this country so that we have a government that works for all of us. >> today's contest leads into next week's super tuesday primaries where voters in a dozen states go to the polls. well, another batch of hillary clinton's e-mails are now out there. yesterday the state department released more than 1,500 pages of documents, portions were labeled confidential, which is the lowest classification. now, none of these e-mails was marked classified when they were sent. new jersey governor chris christie is now onboard with donald trump. christie made headlines by endorsing trump's bid for the republican presidential nomination. governor christie said he revisited negative comments he made about trump in the past. he said he now thinks the billionaire businessman will be the best leader the er for the . he wasted no time campaigning for trump. christie ended his white house biddier this month but reemerged to break ranks with the gop establishment and throw his support behind trump. >> marco rubio, your campaign is almost over, buddy. >> i certainly think that if we a donald trump presidency, that we could see chris christie in the cabinet, be it attorney general, secretary of state or department of homeland security head. >> now, stay with us because in the next half hour you'll hear from some new jersey voters who think christie's endorsement is part of the story. well, political observers say that the trump/christie announcement robbed marco rubio of momentum that he got from thursday night's republican debate. here's reaction from the florida senator. >> look, chris is an articulate guy. donald needs a lifeline after last night. he called in chris christie, i respect that. he's a con man who is taking advantage of people's fears and anxiety about the future and portraying himself as a strong guy. he's not a strong guy. he's never faced real adversity before. >> also rival gop candidate ted cruz didn't seem put off by christie's endorsement of trump. >> listen, i think the endorsement was no doubt troubling news for the rubio campaign. i like ris. i don't think the endorsement was a big surprise to many observers. our folksis real simple. uniting conservatives in the super tuesday is on the free nbc 10 app and nbc10.com. this morning a delaware county man who suffers from schizophrenia is out of a coma and recovering in the hospital after he was shot by police earlier this week. filed aggravated assault charges against saveon garrison you see him there. his mother claims he shouldn't be charged because of his mental condition. garrison, who lives in sharon hill,ed 911 on tuesday night. his parents say he was delusional claiming he had been abducted. according to prosecutors, officers who were aware of garrison's mental illness tazered him at the home and then shot him when he came after them with a kitchen knife. he allegedly slashed the face of one of the officers. his mother believes shooting him was excessive given her son's condition. >> he has rights. and i feel as though he was violated in every way. and he almost lost his life in front of his mother. >> the family is now focused on making sure their son recover os from the gunshot wound and is properly treated for his mental illness. authorities have not released any information about the officer who was injured. well, we're following breaking news. a home has collapsed into a large pile of debris you see there. it happened this morning, not long ago. at least one person was injured in that rubble. reporter drew smith is there gathering new information and we'll be back in just a few charged with sexual assault and corruption of minors. samarin was already in jail for identity theft. the new charges stem from a sensual relationship back in 2014. samarin was 22 and the student 15. investigators say he attended harrisburg high school pretending to be an honor student named asher pauts. yoko ono is expected to be released from the hospital after being treated for the flu. an ambulance was called to her manhattan apartment building last night. media reports that she suffered a stroke were not true. the widow of john lennon is 83 years old. the cdc has a new warning for anyone planning to attend this summer's olympics in reoodetia nero as concerns over the zika virus continue to grow. they encourage pregnant women not go and all travelers use insect repellant. all nine women got the virus overs and three of those babies have been born, one with a brain defect. the agency says there are ten other suspected cases. well, today, the great er philadelphia outdoor order involving another ex-girlfriend just before the rampage on thursday. police say ford used a rifle and a handgun to wound people at random. he stole a car, drove to the manufacturing plant where he worked and opened fire there. a police officer confronted ford inside the plant. and we're getting new information onning news we're following this morning involving a house collapse in check on your weekend weather with meteorologist michelle grossman. hi, katy. >> looking at temperatures below freezing in so many spots and we'll keep it cold today, but the tradeoff is the 6 degree weather coming on sunday. the bright sunshine and you'll need the sunkeglasses. we'll have sunshine all day long and despite that sunshine, we'll keep it cold. 31 in philadelphia and 30 in town and 29 degrees right now in lancaster and at the freezing mark atta city as well as millvale and dover and wilmington at 39 degrees. windy day yesterday and bitterly and breezy this afternoon, not the wind we had, but still breezy. right now we're seeing a wind chill of just 22 in philadelphia. feels like 25 in allentown and feeling like 24 in lancaster, as well as atlantic city. those are the temperatures you want to dress for as you step out today. plan on a day fill would sunshine, but a cold one. 37 by 1:00. by 3:00, 43 and by 6:00, 32 degrees. below normal for this time of year and then warm up comes on sunday and all the details in just a bit. and we continue to follow breaking news. a man who was rescued from a home that collapsed in philadelphia's gray's ferry section is in the hospital. drew smith who is live at the scene. drew, that is quite a pile of rubble. he is lucky he got out. >> yeah, katy. this is as close as we're able to get to what used to be a two-story home. take a look at it now. it's leveled. the size of the home collapsing in on itself. we do have new information from the gas company that said they had shut down the gas to this area as they investigate what may have happened here. when we arrived a short time ago, we could smell the gas in the air. we also have been talking to witnesses here who say it was around 7:45. they were woken up by a loud crack when they came out and they saw a pile of dust in the air, bricks collapsing in on each other and then they heard sound of a manueling for help when they rushed in to try to help him, they said they smelled the gas, too. they called 911. listen to one of the witnesses describe what she saw. >> we heard it like from my bedroom you could see it. we heard it and at first we thought it was just like a tree and then the rest, you could hear like boom, boom, boom. just tumbling, crumbling down to pieces pretty much. >> back now in our live picture. you can see that crews from pico are working on securing some of the electrical lines were ripped down as this house collapsed in on itself. we have calls in right now to the gas company trying to figure out more about what happened here. but we do know that a 39-year-old man was taken to the hospital. witnesses say he was talking. he was cover oed in dust, but he seemed to be doing okay. unbelievable that he was able to survive this house collapsing in on itself from what we see of what's left of it. we're live in gray's ferry, i'm drew smith, nbc 10 news. >> thank you, drew. decision 016. the polls are now open in south carolina, today's democratic presidential primary pitch hillary clinton against bernie sanders. the candidates made their final stump speeches last night. sanders and clinton took the stage at a fish fry, but at different times. the latest polls show clinton maintaining a double-digit lead there. and today in philadelphia, people supporting bernie sanders will hold a noontime rally at city hall. activists from several groups plan to join forces at the event. they also plan to register voters for the pennsylvania primary, which is april 26th. now, some local supporters of senator sanders are also planning to hit the road to help their. they'll board a bus tomorrow and head to virginia. one of the state's holding super tuesday primaries next week. one supporter told us he will be knocking on doors armed with information about the sanders campaign. >> to me, it was very clear that sanders was a candidate who was really going to challenge basically challenge the political establishment and the billionaire class on fundamental issues are about our democracy. >> while he said his group is visiting virginia since it's a battleground state that sanders needs to win on tuesday. well, speaking of endorse omentes, here's one that people here at home and across the country are still talking about this morning. >> she is looking on the five people on the stage last night, the clear stand out and the person who will do exactly what needs to be done to make america a leader around the world again. >> yesterday new jersey governor chris christie threw his support behind former rival donald trump. here's what some new jersey voters think of the governor's move. >> i think he wants to be a vice presidential candidate. >> he sees something for himself in this. >> clearly. >> it's very odd. i'm very surprised. >> it gives him main stream support with a national, political figure. >> analysts say christie's endorsement was meant to steal support from marco rubio. donald trump was not the first candidate to ask for chris christie's support. kasich said he wanted his backing but rejected. he was surprised christie, an establishment candidate decided to go with trump, an outsider. the governor is campaigning in tennessee today. white house candidate bernie sanders, john kasich and ted cruz will join moderator chuck todd on nbc "meet the press" it comes your way tomorrow morning right here on nbc 10. now, take a look at this high school wrestler. her name is tatiana ortiz and today she will make history as the first female wrestler to compete in a pennsylvania district championship. she is a freshman at mariana academy and she took up wrestling just win the last year. the archdiocese its policy. now she is traveling with the guys and while most inside waiting for him. they chased william outside and arrested him and then the two officers gave themselves a congr congradlatory high five. it was all caught on video. the police sent up a sting after recent burglaries. sides has been stealing money out of the collection box. sides you see there is charged with burglary and criminal trespassing and other offenses. he claims he found the keys because he's an awesome dog. he loves everyone. he's lived with children and he loves to go to the beach. this is one of our volunteers, patty, and she's been working with him and he knows a lot of commands and is house broken. he is really a perfect pet for someone. >> an active family maybe we were talking during the commercial break. >> someone who likes to hike or go to the beach. out in the woods. >> quilt the little adventurer. >> he loves to get outside. because he is one of our longest term residents it's not fun being at the shelter that long. we're doing special promotion this weekend called the magnificent seven. the seven longest term dogs have fee waived adoptions this weekend. >> that's great. and he talks, too. another special challenge you were taelling us about. we
