Reporter tracy, so far this morning weve seen a few drivers lingering on the other side of the barricade folluntil they fi another way around. This is why the street is closed. A hole actually opened up on 17th. As you said, it has things shut down between walnut and locust. We got a closer look since we saw you last. We checked it out. You see water running under there. We checked with city officials, and they tell us the water pipe connected to a fire hydrant broke causing the street to cave in. The hole is twofeet wide but drops deeper than that. You see cracks around where the hole is at. The Water Department will be out to make repairs this morning. Theyre expected to have the closure through the morning. Perhaps into the afternoon. Thanks for the update. 6 02. New from overnight, two men are in the hospital after a driveby shooting in north philadelphia. Police were called to colorado street around 3 00 this morning. They found two men in their 50s with gunshot swounds. The victims told police that someone shot at hem from a gray vehicle. The men are in stable condition. Happening today, closing arguments will begin in the trial of three teenage girls accused in the death of a Delaware High School student. The teens decided not to testify yesterday. One is accused of attacking amy joynerfrancis last april in the bathroom at Howard High School of technology. The other two are accused of helping plan it. Francis died of cardiac arrest shortly after the fight. In south jersey, a Police Officer accused of exposing himself to children is no longer facing charges. The salem county Prosecutor Says there were no crime committed. Two weeks ago, penns grove Police Officer anthony mingez was in a bathroom stall at an applebys when a 13 and 9yearold opened the stall door. The kids told police that the officer who was off duty exposed himself. The Prosecutor Says mingez was just going to the bathroom. Growing concern in delaware as Police Continue to search for a child predator. A 911 call yesterday caused panic. Neighbors in a pipe creek neighborhood called police after they heard a child screaming for help, but it turned out to be a false alarm. Last week, a 4yearold girl was abducted from in front of her pike creek home. Police say a man took the girl, sexually assaulted her, and left her in banning park. Cautious. People dont want to be out without their kids right next to them. We used to let her out front, and now we cant even do that. The attacker was seen driving a dark sedan. Theyre following leads in the case. 6 03. U. S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson and World Leaders are holding an urgent meeting in italy to discuss the crisis in syria. Foreign ministers are expected to call today for a new International Push to end the war in syria. Meantime, tillerson is expected to land in moscow in a few hours for a meeting there with the Russian Foreign minister. Tensions between the two countries continued to increase over the syrian gas attacks. A u. S. Intelligence official says shoo knew in advance about syrias plan to use chemical weapons, but theres no proof moscow was involved. Another part of the cabinet will be touring the u. The head of United Airlines is defending his employees after a passenger was physically forced off a plane because of overbooking, and the video went viral. [ screams ] no oh, my god. Oh, my god no my god when no one volunteered to get off the flight to louisville, passengers were chosen at random. This man was ripped out of his seat and dragged off the plane. The ceo said he was upset to see what happened, but the man ignored repeated requests to get off the plane and made it necessary to call airport police. Passengers were very upset. The passenger hit his head on the armrest next to him, knocked him out. Got all bloodiy on his face. They pulled him off the plane. I have to go home. I have to go home. The ceo says employees followed procedures. The Chicago Department of aviation has placed at least one of the officers on leave pending a review. The department of transportation is investigating to see if United Airlines broke any rules. Now the airlines are allowed to bump passengers from a flight, but they do have to follow certain rules. And passengers who know the rules could make some cash. Airlines are required to compensate a bumped passenger if they are re if their rebooked flight arrives more than an hour after the original flight. The amount is based on the price of your ticket, whether its domestic or international, and how long youre delayed. The most a passenger can get is 1,350. You should also know that the airlines are required to give you a written statement of the rights. A little more than a dozen kids are embarking on what could become a career in circus performing. We got a look at day one of the camp yesterday. Its for seven 14yearolds in the Philadelphia School of circus arts. Its all about doing something for kids who want something different, for those who may not excel at the more traditional sports. This is about learning how to swing on a trapeze or walk a tight tightrope build that a tightrope to build that confidence. Students are athletic, and some people think that theyre not athletic. Learning the stuff has to be fun and something that you want to do. Some of the instructors now were once students in one of these camps. This camp runs through the rest of the week. Police released video of two men walking on north holly street in West Philadelphia on february 3rd. Sass the same street where 65yearold Winifred Harris was killed. Police say there are persons of interest in the case, and they want to talk to them. Harris was found shot in an upstairs bedroom. She was well known in the Community Serving as the executive director of the University City green, an urban gardening nonprofit. Two environmental groups are waging a new fight against an approved gas pipeline in new jersey. The Pinelands Commission recently approved the pipeline. It would run through the federally protected reserve in cumberland and cape may counties. While the sierra club and environment new jersey are now appealing that decision which has sparked protests. The groups say the approval breaks a rule that says any project in the pinelands has to benefit the community. The pipeline will serve a power plant that is switching from coal to gas.
