Now to breaking news weve been following in delaware. Weve been covering it through the night. Inmates holding prison workers hostage. Nbc10 has a team of workers bringing you coverage as the standoff continues. The overthrow in power happened around 10 30 at Vaughn Corrections Center in smyrna, delaware. Four staffers were held hostage. Two of them released yesterday. Right now, two prison officers do remain as hostages. Guards are in the process of moving inmates to other parts of the facility. Nbc10s matt delucia is live with what is happening outside the prison. Give us an update. Reporter vai and tracy, this has been going on for several hours. A little still going on at the facility behind me. Were in the parking lot of the administration area. Were not where the facility is and that building c where this hostage situation has been going on. Were about 200 yards or so away from it. But within the last half hour, we do see some activity from far away, where we do see vans moving around that area. Again, a lot of information is pretty scarce at this moment. Of course, theyre trying to keep a lot of their tactics close to the vest, as they try to get these two officers out safely. Take a look at some video that we shot within the last hour where you can see a little closer vantage point. Still a bit of a ways off. You can still see a little bit of that facility and what those folks are dealing with in terms of the hostage negotiations that are still unfolding. Also take a look at some video from skyforce 10. This was last night where you can see some of the inmates being let out of the c building here at the james vaughn corrections facility. All of this began just after 10 30 yesterday morning. Four members of the corrections staff were taken hostage. And demands made known to a delaware newspaper. Among the concerns, their treatment in the facility. Also access to rehabilitation. As we mentioned two of those four officers, they were released. One had been treated for nonlifethreatening injuries. The situation has been the talk of the town among officials here and neighbors. We have two officers that are still in harms way and were praying really hard that everybody comes out okay. I feel sorry for the loved ones on the outside waiting to find out whats going on inside. But i also feel sorry for the inmates. Who knows what theyre going through as well. Again, were about maybe 200, 300 yards away from the facility itself. You can see that in this area here and some of the building. Again, were talking about the c building in this complex. And we have seen activity within the last half hour. Some advance moving around this building. We also saw what looks like a helicopter. I dont know if you can see it here. My photographer chris sees the flashing lights. Going behind the trees at the moment. But we have seen a helicopter circling the facility or complex within the past hour or so. Again, a lot of activity is still going on. Were listening to radio communications. Were trying to get an idea, a sense of what might be happening inside and around that area. In other news, a teacher on the main line is now being accused of sexually assaulting a student on school property, local parks and at her Chester County home. Reporter what were you thinking . Did you honestly think you werent going to get caught . Nina scott was a teacher if delaware county. Police say she abused the girl for nearly eight months. Scott no longer works at the school. The school put out a statement saying once they were alerted, scott has not worked there. A couple charged in the death of their 2yearold daughter. Police say 2yearold ella grace died of pneumonia and her parents refused medical treatment box of their religious beliefs. Right now the parents grace and Jonathan Foster are back home. The d. A.
