Flooded cities are trying to dry out whale those downstream are keeping a close eye on rising rivers. North carolina meanwhile dealing with recordbreaking flooding. Dozens of home are damaged in the town of nags head. The coast guard rescued dozens of people from flooded homes. The storm claimed the lives at least eight people in the state. In south carolina, thousands remain without power. The storm made landfall about 30 miles north of charleston. Evacuation orders were lifted for part of the state. Other residents were being warned to stay away for now. Crews are out clearing streets and working to restore electricity. Florida governor rick scott toured the hardest hit areas of his state yesterday. He met with leaders in jacksonville beach. The governor says the worst damage he has seen is beach erosion. Neighbors help a vigil last night just outside the Palm Springs Police department. The two officers were shot dead on saturday while responding to a domestic disturbance call.
