franconia township, partially blocking part of the pa turnpike's northeast extension. your alternate to get by the scene, they are letting lanes through now. there are big delays, of course. take route 309 and you'll be okay. heading through 95 throughout delaware, you can see 11-minute trip northbound from 295 to 495 with speeds into the 60s. we did have construction on the vine street expressway closing it in both directions this morning. that cleared around 5:00 this morning. this is around 8th street. no problems in either direction. some construction signs in the way. not something that should set you back too much. that's headed westbound towards the schuylkill, no problems or delays on our drive times. vai? >> all right, thank you, jessica. happening right now, fire crews are on the scene of a house fire in camden. nbc 10 is live there on the ground. we just got a text message from camden police chief scott thompson. this is what he's telling us, that there are six houses involved in this fire. the fire is currently under control. 20 people have been displaced. two adults, five children being examined at cooper hospital for spoke inhalation. we'll continue to update this story as we get it. police took a drive near custody on suspicion of dui after a crash in the nicetown neighborhood of philadelphia. sent four people to the hospital. police say the suv driver hit a parked car on west hunting park avenue, causing it to flip on to the sidewalk, landing on two pedestrians. one person was trapped underneath the car. that victim is in critical condition at einstein medical center. this morning, people are remembering music legend prince. these folks spent the night dancing in the streets of brooklyn while his music blared from speakers. spike lee organized the event to are his late friend. here's the front page of "new york daily news." the pop icon died yesterday at the age of 57. >> the cause of his death is still not clear. >> medical, party for him right here in philadelphia. students returned to class today at the wilmington high school that was locked down for hours yesterday after a 16-year-old student died in a fight with two other students. nbc 10's pamela osborne is live in wilmington with details. pamela, what can you tell us? >> reporter: tracy, good morning, we can tell you that fight happened inside a girl's bathroom here at the howard high school of technology. last night we caught up with students who returned here to the high school for a vigil. they gathered to console one another after the loss of their 16-year-old classmate and to show her family support. there were a lot of tears, a lot of hugs, a lot of people wanting to know why, what happened? here's what we know. it was sometime around 8:15 yesterday morning when the victim, a 16-year-old sophomore student was assaulted by two other girls. the fight happened out of sight in a girl's bathroom. the victim was so badly injured, that she had to be air lifted to the hospital where she died of her injuries. the entire school was on lockdown a couple hours later, early dismissals began. as police investigators took things from there. we talked to one student at that vigil last night. i'll let her describe to you how people are feeling. >> people upset and crying and it's something that really needs to change. this event is so horrible and it's touched so many people. it's something that can never happen again. >> police spent hours collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses and a few girls who they believe may have been involved in that fight, students who know the victim telling us they hearded fight was all over a boy. now, police have not announced any charges yet. an autopsy will help them determine the exact cause of death here. that, of course, is something that we'll be following throughout the day today. reporting live in wilmington, delaware, pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. >> thank you, pamela. mercer county community will come together today for a public memorial service for robbinsville school superintendent steven mayer. the service happens this afternoon in princeton followed by a private funeral schedule for tomorrow. we're learning more about what happened moments after a car hit and killed mayer while he was jogging with his dog. prosecutors say the 17-year-old driver called 911 tuesday morning while parked outside pond middle school. she told dispatchers she believed her car hit someone on robbinsville edinburg road while she was on her way to the middle school. schools there are closed today to observe passover. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> eight minutes after 6:00. this is the view from center city from the comcast center and you can see it is mostly cloudy view. clouds have been rolling into the area. we are getting a break from the chill in part because of the clouds that have come in and sealed in some of the warm air from yesterday. sunrise, just a few minutes from now at 6:13. may not see a whole lot of sunshine during the day today. in spite of clouds moving in, a big warmup, near 80 degrees this afternoon. showers start to move in this afternoon. there's even a possibility of a thunderstorm. the chance of showers will continue into the evening hours. if you're out and about for friday evening, grab an umbrella. there will be wet weather. here's a look at your day hour by hour. 63 degrees in philadelphia. mostly cloudy and 74 at 11:00 and closer to 80 degrees starting at 1:00 this afternoon. you can see the showers that are due in later today. that's philadelphia. the pennsylvania suburbs, an earlier start to the showers. dry right now, 61 degrees. early this afternoon, that's at 1:00, 75 degrees with a chance of showers. you'll see that in the lehigh valley, too, 54 with a light breeze at 6 miles an hour. the wind will be increasing some in the lehigh valley. that will help with the warmup. it won't get quite as warm as philadelphia. 73 degrees at 1:00. 74 degrees with mostly cloudy skies at 3:00 in the afternoon. because the temperatures differ, the weather is different for each of our regions, that's why we break it down with our neighborhood weather. as far as south jersey, it's looking dry, completely dry this morning but as we go into the afternoon, more and more clouds, along with the big warmup, 78 degrees for south jersey at 14 mile-an-hour winds will be near 80 degrees at south jersey with showers and possibly some thunderstorms as well. and the jersey shore will be cooler with readings in the 60s to start with, right now, 63 degrees. not as big of a warmup, 71 degrees at 1:00 this afternoon and some late-day showers and thunderstorms are possible there as well. and delaware is going to be warming to near 80 degrees. that happens at 3:00 in the afternoon. the chance of showers starts, though, during the early afternoon hours. that's today. the seven-day vai and tracy. we have an accident scene around the girard avenue off ramp headed eastbound on the schuylkill. that ramp is blocked right now. a big delay behind that all the way back to montgomery drive. we do have a lot of activity over into the shoulder and covering the ramp right now. looks like fire engines on the scene as well as police officers and some penndot crews there. big delays on the schuylkill, of course. we'll get drive times for you when i come back. for now, let's check on franconia township for that vehicle fire on the northeast extension of the pa turnpike headed southbound around the har lizville pike overpass. we are having the right shoulder blocked. lanes are getting through, big delays. you can take route 309 as your alternate. watch for this construction philadelphia police are investigating a crash that killed a motorcycle driver. investigators say the motorcycle slammed into a car's passenger side just after 10:30 last night on whitaker avenue in crescentville. witnesses told police the motorcycle went through a red light. the driver of the car was not hurt. today a group of clergy, politicians, civil rights officials and unions will call on philadelphians to vote no on a proposal to abolish traffic report. the proposal is on next tuesday's primary ballot. the group owe poes the elimination of traffic court calling it an attack on st citizens' rights. in 2011, seven judges and a court administrator were all convicted in a ticket fixing scandal. 6:17, friday morning, in her last report, jessica informed us of an accident on the schuylkill. >> we have an accident scene around girard avenue on the schuylkill expressway headed eastbound towards center city. we have vehicles over into the right-hand shoulder but the off ramp to girard avenue is completely blocked off right now. so we have no access there. you can see a few vehicles involved and there are police officers on scene as well. completely blocking that ramp. headed eastbound, we're seeing big delays because of it, here's our cameras, approaching the scene. this is around montgomery drive. a string of brake lights, cars pretty much coming to a halt here, now at a 21-minute drive time. the speeds are dropping into the 30s. out in franconia township, this vehicle fire is tieing things up. you can see relief actually on the northeast extension, at least on our map system here. we are green. we were red earlier. headed southbound around h harleysville overpass. that vehicle fire is over into the right-hand shoulder. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 6:18 and we've got sunshine. this is a sunny view, somewhat sunny view, from center city you can see the clouds moving in. it must be the brilliant sunshine we've had yesterday. the clouds will take over this afternoon. we'll get enough sunshine to see a significant warmup, something you may have been watching through the week on the seven-day forecast that's scrolling at the got o of the screen. never got cold, 63 degrees in philadelphia. wilmington, dover, coatesville, all in the 60s. atlantic city at 62 degrees. this is much warmer than it was yesterday morning at this time. 25 degrees warmer for vineland. philadelphia and allentown running 16 degrees warmer this morning. that's just to start with. in spite of cloudsç moving in, we'll get a nice wind blowing. that will help boost temperatures to the 80 degree mark in philadelphia. much of the rest of the area will get close to that mark as well. here are the neighborhood forecasts for today, philadelphia, look at the 80 for south philadelphia, even warmer in somerton. pennsylvania suburbs, phoenixville, sunshine and some clouds this morning. a chance of showers this afternoon, 75 degrees. and thunderstorms are a possibility. doylestown 79 degrees this afternoon. the lehigh valley could see lightning and thunder, to 75. enough sunshine breaking through the clouds in haddonfield to warm up to 81 degrees. wildwood stays cooler along with atlantic city, a chance of showers developing during the afternoon hours at the jersey shore. wilmington, late-day showers, may see scattered activity during the afternoon hours. even more likely this evening and before those showers move in, 80 degrees. the wet weather, not here yet. so far, completely dry. you can see it is not far away. it's just to the west. western pennsylvania has seen scattered light showers so far this morning. it's been scattered in pittsburgh. there are areas that are seeing heavier downpours with the system that's moving in. look at the rain that's moving across interstate 79 in west virginia. that is due in here during the late afternoon and evening hours. here it is on the futurecast, noontime is when we'll see some of the first showers arriving in the pennsylvania suburbs in the lehigh valley. that's light rainfall. it will swing through philadelphia. there's a downpour. that's at 2:30 this afternoon. don't be surprised if you get a brief downpour during the day and into the evening hours. that's atlantic city at 4:30 this afternoon. umbrellas will be going up during the late afternoon and evening hours. that may not be the end of it. look at the showers and potential thunderstorms, that's at 7:00 in the evening. those will be arriving in central pennsylvania by the early evening hours and later in the evening for the rest of the area. we do have some wet weather ahead, just not an all-day rainfall. that allows us to warm up, 80 degrees this afternoon. passover begins this evening. clearing out tomorrow and breezy for saturday. 57 in the morning, 70 in the afternoon. it's chillier sunday morning. but the wind will die down and we'll see clear skies, plenty of sunshine after 6:30. already warm, 63 degrees outside. it's going to get warmer today. meteorologist bill henley has your neighborhood weather. bill? >> it never got cold overnight, 50s and 60s, pennsylvania suburbs 58 degrees. look at 54. that's the cool spot in the lehigh valley. easton will see breaks of sunshine to start with. you can see the view of the clouds coming in this morning. we'll see clouds but no sign of any wet weather until possibly late in the morning, lunch time, 75 degrees. in spite of the chance of showers all these numbers will be warming up significantly today. our normal temperatures this time of year should be in the 60s. we're heading for 80 degrees this afternoon in philadelphia. but look at the chance of some showers and thunderstorms. umbrellas will be going up later today. seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. it's warm today. that changes this weekend. we'll go through the forecast hour by hour when i'm back in ten minutes. jessica boyington right now has your first alert traffic. jessie? >> we're watching the schuylkill expressway right now. that accident scene around the girard avenue off ramp has cleared out of the way. relatively quickly but the delays still remain, of course. if you're headed eastbound on the schuylkill, into the center city area, or at least past the girard avenue exit, you will see some delays. these are cameras around montgomery drive, just approaching the scene. you can see a 12-montgomery trip from the blue route to the vine street expressway. we're seeing about a 13-minute trip so you can see the increase, at least over 10 minutes and speeding dropping down into the 20s for an average by that scene. burlington township, out in new jers jersey, there is an accident scene route 130 northbound. franconia township, all lanes getting by on the pa turnpike northeast extension headed southbound around harleysville overpass. you tan take 309 if you want to be safe and avoid the residual delays. fans are mourning the loss of prince. hundreds of people gathered outside of the music çvenue, first avenue and downtown minneapolis overnight to celebrate his life. prince filmed a large portion of his movie "purple rain" at that club and recorded several songs with a live audience there. prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at his home in minnesota yesterday. emergency personnel were the singer born prince rogers nelson had a music career that spanned nearly four decades. judges on nbc's "the voice" christina aguilera and blake shelton spoke about prince's untimely passing. >> he 6:35 and 53 degrees outside. in other news, a wilmington commune came together to remember a 16-year-old girl who died after a fight at school. nbc 10's pamela osborne is following the investigation. pamela, what can you tell us? >> faculty are beginning to trickle in. also i want to step out of way and show you, within the past five minutes or so, a police cruiser pulled up to the front of the school. the officer got out of that patrol car, went inside of the building. this of course is where we know a fight occurred yesterday at the howard high school of technology. it was inside of the girl's bathroom. want to get you to video last night. there was a vigil. students were dismissed early but many of them returned to the school yesterday to remember their classmate, the 16-year-old girl, to show their support for her family. here's what we know. it was about 8:15 yesterday morning when that victim was inside of a bathroom when she was attacked by two other students. now, the victim was so badly injured in the attack she had to be air lifted to the hospital where she died after her injuries. students who know the girl tell us they're hearing the fight was all over a boy. >> to hear that a girl losing her life over a boy, i mean, you could have thought of different ways instead of fighting. >> reporter: and entire school was put on lockdown after that fight took place. later, students were dismissed home after investigators took over from there. we talked to a youth outreach leader who knew the victim through her participation with his group. >> it's hurts when you know her personally. she wasn't one of my students like out in the streets like that. that just wasn't her. >> people upset and crying and it's something that really needs to change. this event is so over in burlington township, if you're in new jersey you may run into this accident on route 130 northbound around high street. there are lane restrictions in the area there. and that emergency construction we dealt with all week on the delaware memorial bridge, three lanes are open this morning, heading into delaware. yesterday it was two lanes open, and the day before when we had those dover, vineland at 62 along with atlantic city. that is running more than 20 degrees above where we were yesterday at this time. in fact, 25 degrees warmer right now in vineland. a warm start and near 80 degrees this afternoon for philadelphia, even a little bit warmer for somerton. these are your neighborhood forecasts for today. the pennsylvania suburbs, lehigh valley, showers developing. a big warmup for both of those areas into the 70s this afternoon. for south jersey, 89 degrees. clouds move in with a chance of showers at the shore. cooler in atlantic city. look at the temperatures taking off. dover at 79 degrees. dewey beach at 79 degrees. you'll see sunshine before the clouds arrive with a chance of showers later in the day. completely dry in philadelphia, but you can see the wet weather, the first rain drops are still about 150 miles away from us. they will be moving into the area during the day. but don't expect to see heavy rain at least to start with. this is just after noon time, 12:30 this afternoon. at that time, light showers in allentown and the pennsylvania suburbs. that will go through philadelphia, there's potential for heavy downpours, that's at 3:00 this afternoon. the chance of showers continues into the evening commute. 5:00, showers for philadelphia and wilmington and into south jersey. keep an umbrella handy for today. it looks like you'll need it latest? >> reporter: tracy, vai, good morning. there was a police officer that pulled up to the front of the school less than a half hour ago. he was here for a few moments before taking off. school administrators, faculty arriving here at the building ahead of students who will be returning for the first time since the death of their classmate. the school day ended almost immediately yesterday for all students after that early morning fight. students returned to the school last night to grieve the classmate, a 16-year-old sophomore was involved in a fight in a girl's bathroom. she was flown to the hospital but died of her injuries. police have been interviewing witnesses and talking to two girls who they believe were involved in that fight. so far, no charges have been filed. they're for the most part. it is over into the shoulder. no delays because of it anymore. it's on the northeast extension of the pa turnpike southbound, around harleysville pike. overpass approaching lansdale. there is an accident in burlington township on route 130 northbound around high street. another accident out in montgomery county in norristown on west main street and markley street. the house fire in camden seeing closures because of that, haddon avenue and spruce street. the construction we were dealing with on the delaware memorial bridge, three lanes are open this morning. no from our area. look at the lehigh valley, sunshine and 56 degrees. that's one of the cool spots, easting will see the sunshine disappear as the day goes on. a chance of showers late in the morning into the afternoon. look at the warmup, 75 degrees. at the philadelphia international airport, starting off warm. most of philadelphia will warm into the low 70s, low to mid-70s by 11:00 this morning and near 80 degrees this afternoon. but the sunshine will be fading and umbrellas going up this afternoon as showers develop. a chance of showers and thunderstormsç later today. not everybody will see those heavy downpours. we've been watching the radar completely dry this morning in spite of the clouds. there's not rain producing clouds just yet. they are on the way for later today. most of what's on the way is some light shower activity but look closer, you can see heavier downpours that are moving through parts of west virginia. they've got a ways to go before they get here. we could see
