skies today and we're already starting to see the first rain showers, though light they are moving into delaware and huge sprinkles in south jersey. really nothing more than this this morning. chester county, that's just some light rain. and farther to the south and that could give us a thunderstorm later today. but right now we're starting out with cloudy skies. new jersey 67. 64 degrees in the suburbs. mostly cloudy in king of prussia and 71 degrees by 8:00. some showers by 11:00 and there is a chance for some thunderstorm activity. don't be surprised if you see some lightning. here's some thunder this afternoon especially. 70s across the board. look at to 76 degrees in delawa. delaware will have a better chance of seeing those thunderstorms develop into the rest of the neighborhoods today. break it down hour by hour for each part of our area. show you when those thunderstorms are most likely for you. >> and we're watching route 202. a quiet drive so far especially if you're moving through around route 29. if you're moving through, a 7-minute trip. average speed still into the 60s. both directions look good. so far they're dry and easy to move on. right now watching a crash on oak drive around maple avenue and the bridges, we're on stand by for an opening scheduled for about 5:40 or so. sometimes they're a little bit late but either way, that's scheduled for an live in atlantic city. >> borrow on in other news a philadelphia man is speaking out saying that he was beaten up as a political rally because he supports president trump. a group of men hit him over the head with a bottle as he left the crowd on sunday. he had to go to the hospital. he says he was targeted because of his political believes. >> you want to beat people up for that? that's the ultimate irony. they're beating people up for freedom of expression. >> he says he's still in pain but he does continue to attend political rallies. a town hall meeting is scheduled with pennsylvania senator. >> demonstrators blocked the entrance to the tv station where the town hall was being held last night. nay e they're concerned about medicaid cuts. the question and answer session was his first this year in front of an audience. >> attorney general jeff sessions will not be making a previously planned visit to philadelphia today. sessions was supposed to talk to law enforcement officials about sanctuary cities. no word on why the visit was cancelled. now to more of the stories we're following this morning. the red cross is helping people forced out of an apartment building. it went up in flames last night. you can see the black smoke. fire started around 7:30 last night. no one was hurt. 120 units in the complex had to be evacuated. >> and this deadly bucks county fire. investigators believe smoking near an oxygen tank may be to blame. one woman died and two other people and a firefighter were hurt. to the lehigh valley where the coroner will perform an autopsy on a woman found dead in her home. how desiree died. she was discovered yesterday in her township. >> a man will stand trial for the second time for the death of his 3-year-old son. yesterday a judge set a september trial date. his first trial, you may remember, ended in a mistrial when jurors failed to reach a verdict. >> prosecutors say he postponed the hearing. and a teenager has pleaded not guilty for her role in a fight that was caught on camera. >> that's what happened in may. injured several teaches and school staff members. three others have already pleaded guilty. the housing market is hot right now. that's a new report. home sales are up 16% from last may and if you look closely the best selling neighborhoods are concentrated in south philadelphia, rocksboro and the lower northeast. showers and possibly some thunderstorms. best chance of thunderstorms will be the afternoon and evening hours. you might see a few showers this morning but at the shore, mostly cloudy skies. first to see the showers in delaware this morning, they're moving into new castle county. a few showers this morning. still a round of 10:00 and there's that chance of thunderstorms as we go into the afternoon weren't hurt. family and friends are remembering a local veteran murdered last week. funeral services were held last night for a marine veteran howard white. he was trying to break up an attempted bar robbery. he had just returned home from a tour of duty. police arrested and charged suspect randy johnson with white's murder. new video this morning shows the moment a college dorm in kentucky was damaged by an explosion. a camera mounted across the street shows the explosion. it damaged other dorms and the dining hall. investigators believe natural gas spontaneously come busted. two people had minor injuries. we are learning more details about the upcoming hbo movie. actors cathy baker has been cast to play the wife sue. al-pacino will play in the movie and it's expected to center around ears. >> he believes their plane went down hundreds of miles away from where the photo was taken. our aviation expert. what do you think? >> so there's somebody with a camera and she's on an island some thunderstorms in wilmington. right now you can see they've got the field covered. there could be some heavy downpours. 66 in the suburbs. 60s and 70s for south jersey. 73 in port richmond. nobody's really chilly this morning or terribly warm either. the clouds, showers and thunderstorms, the heaviest downpours are to our southwest. this line is starting to die out a little bit. still some downpours there. we're not seeing the thunder and lightning like we saw earlier. and it's spreading rain and the rain is light now. chester county was the first to see showers this morning. you see them moving into new castle county and some light rain. the weekend though, that's going to be drying out. we're going to see temperatures in the 08s for saturday. could see a shower in the lehigh valley and the really nice day is sunday. but before we get to the weekend we've got some showers. but not all day for form. today we'll have the clouds all day. so 78 degrees. we'll stay in the 70s today. 88 degrees for saturday and showers in the morning will be gone in the afternoon and then sunday is going to be a beauty. the humidity is going to come down and that's usually reflected down to 66 degrees. less humid air and you'll feel the difference on monday. the temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees and here comes the humidity and the chance of more showers and thunderstorms. a slight chance of thursday and friday. a better chance we'll see more storms coming in next saturday with a high of 86 degrees. so heading out the door right now, grab your umbrella, you may not need it. there been some showers during the day today. >> if you're heading out the roads. >> so we're watching route 73 right now and our cameras around 295. still empty, chaully. roads again, are still dry even though we know that's not going to stay the same all morning long. we are watching really good drive times so far. also watching the bridges. the betsy ross bridge is your alternate. you can take that instead. the burlington bristol, there's a crash and the expressway still looks good. look at these drive times. and 13 minutes on that eastbound side from the blue route 17-year-olds were involved in the robberies of two taxi drivers, two women in 80s and they'll be charged as adults. a person who shot an 80-year-old man while he was sleeping. he was lying in bed yesterday morning in dover. gunshots woke him up. he quickly realized he had been shot. he is expected to be okay. crews are building protective sand dunes as part of an ongoing coastal protection project. the army corps of engineers stopped work early and moved on to mar gate. a group of residents there have been fighting the work. others are frustrated the work is happening in the middle of the summer tourist season. if you don't pay up, you could lose your ride. under a new law more than 10,000 drivers with multiple unpaid toll violations could lose their registration. anyone with an overdue violation can have the extra fees waived as long as the bill gets paid by august 4th. drivers in our eight local counties alone owe a total of nearly $12 million. montgomery has nearly 4 million in violations. and today philadelphia will celebrate one of its most famous sons, kevin hart. >> this mural will be officially unveiled later on today. it's going up at the cheese steaks in
