The rest of the morning, clouds stay locked in. This is 8 00 now. Could see a couple light showers, then by about noon, by lunch time, mostly dry. The clouds will still be around. If youre in new jersey and delaware, 9 00, 50 degrees, philadelphia area, cloudy skies by lunch time. North and west around the Lehigh Valley, mid40s by 9 00 a. M. , 49 by 11 00 a. M. Were following breaking news out of chester, delaware county. Thats where a diner caught fire and forced evacuations in the area. Katy zachry is on the scene getting new information. Morning, katy. Reporter good morning, vai. The biggest thing thats happened in the last 25 minutes since i saw you, ail of the guests who were staying at the days inn have been let back that their rooms. For the last few hours they had to be evacuated. They were in the lobby area, Milling Around the property because of smoke throughout the building. Ill get to more on that in just a minute. Lets focus in on the diner. Investigators have a bunch of lights on grape leaves diner that caught on fire. The investigators have been out here for an hour an a half, looking at the cause. Manufacture the fire trucks have left. This was the scene when fire crews were spraying water on the roof of the grape leaves diner. The fire broke out in the dining room. Its important to know the restaurant was closed at the time. This is not a 24hour diner. But the adjacent days inn hotel, as i established, was affected. Some guests tell us they woke up to thick smoke filling their hotel rooms. Other woke up to the fire alarm going off. Everyone was told to evacuate. It was very clear, yes, smoke and more specifically out in the hallways, it was getting pretty white out there. It was pretty thick. Reporter so a harrowing few moments for the dozens of guests staying at this days inn hotel. Newest information is that they have been allow back into their hotel rooms. The house voted last night to approve a key amendment to a senate bill that sets up a medical marijuana system. 23 states have legalized the use of medical marijuana including new jersey and delaware. Four states have legalized marijuana for adult recreational use. The push to end the statute of limiting as of sex abuse cases in pennsylvania draws a crowd at the state capitol. Yesterday, several lawmakers joined victims and embattled attorney general Kathleen Kane in the call for action. The supporters want the two statute of limitations bills out of committee and moved to the full house for a vote. Morni mark rossi is also pushing for victims to come out and pursue past abusers. From our delawarec bureau, the hunt is on for a driver who ran over dozens of geese in sussex county. Witness nick lank tells us he was driving behind a black blazer. All of a sudden, the driver intentionally ran off the road and ran over a group of snow geese. Lank said he wanted to chase after the driver but decided not to. I wasnt going to be other peoples lives in jeopardy for something that its not my responsibility to do. Lank has taken to social media, hoping someone with information will come forward.
