in the lee high valley where we're more likely to see those scattered snow showers this morning. just a very light snow, but enough to make things slippery in the lee high valley. some isolated showers in the suburbs and mainly cloudy for philadelphia and jersey. i'm break it down for you when i'm back in ten minutes, but jessica boyington has the traffic. moving through center city might be a bit of a challenge for some drivers. on the vine street expressway right now where where the eastbound lanes are blocked off. for right now it looks like it's still there. we're losing one lane also on the westbound side. right here is the diversion of traffic they have where they're moving everything off to vine street expressway. watching a crash, too, right around halls lane and also watching route 202. on the schuylkill expressway speeds there also into the high 50s. today you will get a chance to witness eagles history. tickets for the nfc championship game go on sale this morning but it will be tough to land a seat at the link. >> super tough. and matt delucia finding out if people will take the time to get those tickets. >> reporter: the eagles sure to be a big topic of conversation with the coffee and breakfast crowd. if you're wondering about those tickets and should you go, here's the deal. there's a limited number of tickets that are going on sale through ticket master at 10:00 this morning. and you can bet those tickets will go pretty fast. prices range from $170 to $255 and standing room only tickets are $135. there's a four ticket per household and first come first serve. some eagles fans are trying to up their chances by having the rest of the family join in on the ticket hunt. >> luckily, i got my mom to help me. my mom could help me out maybe. >> reporter: manafort will be back in a federal courtroom for a status hearing. manafort and political consultant rick gates are under indictment in a money laundering case linked to special counsel robert mueller's russia investigation. both men have pleaded not guilty. and this evening here in philadelphia, "fire and fury" author michael wolff will discuss his best selling book at the free library at 19th and vine. the event is free and open to the public. the tell all book is a global sensation. the president, though, has called the book a complete fantasy and full of lies. president trump is rejecting accusations that he is a racist following recent disparaging comments he made about haiti and african nations. yesterday the president said, quote, i am not a racist in response to a direct question on his way back to mar-a-lago yesterday the president passed demonstrators waving flags. meantime senators who were in the room with the president remains split on whether he called haiti and african nations an expletive. >> i didn't hear it. >> i'm telling you he did not use that word. >> he denied saying it. i felt duty bound to clarify what happened. >> it's pretty embarrassing when you have to take your children out the room just to report the news. >> republicans need democrats to cut a budget deal. democrats say it won't happen without protections for younger undocumented immigrants. olympic gymnast and multigold medalist simone says she is a bit broken but no longer afraid to tell her story of abuse. and today at least 100 girls plan to speak out. yesterday biles added her name to the gymnasts who say they were arrested by the doctor. biles posted a message on social media that reads in part, we need to know why this was able to take place for so long. and to waiting for some wet weather. it's going to be a pretty good wait for philadelphia, but north and west that's when we'll see some scattered snow showers this morning. the commute cast for this morning, dry for philadelphia. 28 degrees and 36 degrees with cloudy skies for this evening. snowing north and west. the city, though, it's going to be pretty quiet. and tomorrow morning that's when it really gets started. in the early morning hours we'll see accumulating snow moving in. the snow will end early in the afternoon if not late in the morning, but it stays cold tomorrow afternoon. so we're looking at some slippery roads for the evening commute tomorrow. right now clouds over philadelphia. but you can see the very light snow, this first patch of snow that's just moving into our area, it's barely making any progress. it's not even made it to reading just yet. but scattered, very light snow showers in burkes county. that's the first bit of this system. now, it's not going to make much progress hour by hour today. you can see it right in this area where it is right now. that's at 9:00. we'll get some breaks during the day, and the best chance of seeing more wet weather will come in tonight. back into the lee high valley and burkes county and by early tomorrow morning just after midnight, here comes the snow shield, finally moving into the area. but the atmosphere will warm during the day, so we're looking at some rain showers late this evening and into the early morning hours tomorrow to begin with. the system to the north and west is going to make some progress. it gets colder through the night and that rain shower activity will eventually change over to snow. so we will some accumulating snow for tomorrow's commute. just a dusting by 11:00 this morning, a few scattered light snow showers are possible in the suburbs of philadelphia, less likely in the sitty acity, and y in delaware and new jersey. as we go into late this evening, 10:30 you can see that steadier snow off to the north and west. by tomorrow morning as it exits the area late in the morning for ineveni the evening commute home, we're looking at an inch or less. there'll be some shoveling to do tomorrow afternoon. beyond that, we've got a warming trend. we'll look at that win the ten day on ten when i'm back in ten. good morning, everyone. jessica boyington with you with a quick check on the roads. now, they are still having this eastbound side closed off to traffic while they divert all the traffic off the vine street expressway. watching 95 to southbound from wood haven road, a 12 minute trip. speeds there into the high 60s, so not seeing any problems with that. and watching a crash, too. this morning, running out of time. a family who sought shelter in a local hotel after a hurricane and now worried they will end up on the street. their plea for help coming up. and flying through the air. new video capthers the moment a car goes airborne and ends up in a very tight spot. imagine hearing an ear shattering crash and then finding a tractor-trailer sitting right in your living room? >> the people who live in this salem county home say they thought a bomb went off yesterday afternoon. the truck driver hit a car and lost control and the big rig barrelled right into the couple's house. >> really a loud boom, and then i don't know what it was but i felt like i was hit and knocked over. >> it took hours to remove the truck. thankfully, no one was hurt. well, take a look at this new video that shows a car crashing into the second floor of an office building. the video was captured by an orange county transit authority dag dash cam. you can see the car take off, fly across the street and then slam into the building. investigators say the driver was speeding when it hit a raised median causing it to go airborne. the driver and the passenger only had minor injuries believe it or not. authorities say the driver admitted to using drugs before getting behind the wheel. time now for a new look at news state by state and county by county. >> let's start in burkes county where relief for 200 families who escaped from hurricane maria is about to run out. when that runs out, they have nowhere to go. we spoke with one family who has to leave their temporary home today because fema denied an extension. their concern about ending up on the streets drives them to tears. >> right now i'm practically on the streets. my wife cries every night. not having a bed or, you know, a warm place to stay -- yeah, especially for my kids. >> fema representative told nbc 10 the transitional shelter program is temporary. requests for extensions are judged on a case by case basis. the christian care health system is getting high honors for u.s. centers for medicare and medicaid services. for the first time in its history the system earned a five-star quality rating for safety, effectiveness and timeliness. that's a celebration months in the making. master sergeant rhonda martin and staff sergeant shar lissa adams were returning home yesterday when they stopped at the wawa and found their families waiting for them. the women spent the last six months serving oversees. the company is sending a years worth of coffee and supplies to their squadrons overseas. eagles fans are going to the dogs. >> i love this trend. the dog makers tapping the birds. the fans are really owning it. that's fantastic. that's clayton the dog barking to the cheers for the eagles underdogs. that dog mask on lane johnson and then clayton. hey, look, i we've got some of on the way but it's going to take some time. we're seeing some snow showers north and west. the poconos mountains will get some snow out of coming system. could see half a foot in some elevations. but even here they're taking advantage of the cold air and making snow this morning. 30 right now in philadelphia, much warmer than yesterday morning, in the 20s for millville and dover. completely dry this morning for these neighborhoods. but north and west where the temperatures also in the upper 20s, that's where we're seeing the first of the light snow in the area. look at the cold in the poconos mountains, 17 degrees. most of the area is going to stay dry. you'll see a chance of snow showers at 8:00 this morning, in reading and quaker town and allentown with temperatures in the 20s. but it's going to be dry for that wait at the bus stop in wilmington and trenton, and new jersey you will be dry as well. the snow showers have some very light snowfall that is showing up in burkes county and into lee high county. during the day most of this is going to stay to the north and west. we'll see occasion al light sno showers and lee high valley. that is on track to move in tonight and be with us tomorrow morning. so there's some slipping and sliding ahead. by the time this exits our area, we're talking tomorrow afternoon, this is what you can expect on the ground. the greatest amounts are going to be north and west with 3 to 5 inches. 5 inches more likely in the mountains. but you could see 3, 4 inches in allentown without too much trouble. by tomorrow afternoon 1 to 2 inches in the philadelphia suburbs and salem, and trenton you could be on track for 2 inches. and chester county and into delaware. the farther south you go more likely we're going to see some rain showers mix in during the day today but even overnight tonight. you'll wind up with much less in dover and milford and morris river in through cape may with this system moving through. ask then it clears out tomorrow afternoon. we have a chance for scattered showers in philadelphia today. rain and snow showers will be so light, almost imperceivable for most of the day. tomorrow that snow is out of here in the afternoon. we'll get some late day sunshine. and sunshine will start a warming process on thursday. but look at friday. here comes the warmer air just entime f in time for the weekend. upper 50s for sunday. it looks like great weather for eagles game. hopefully that'll help the birds. and milder weather next week with another chance of showers next thursday. pretty much out of the way, and now it's out of the way and the delay is gone, too. and that's the westbound side. so the westbound side wasn't ever closed this morning. it's the eastbound side we were watching. also watching a crash out in springfield around preston road. and remember we reported some flooding yesterday around trenton. route 29 right to calhoun street and the memorial drive exit is blocked right now because flooding conditions in the air. cooking, learning and giving back. one new restaurant's mission to help those most in need. three minutes before 5:00, a new restaurant is opening up in philadelphia with a greater purpose than just becoming the next great eatery. >> the lucky well commissary will open this summer in spring garden and will help train, mentor and employ the homeless. local chef chad rosenthal came up with the concept to give back to his community. >> we're going to really teach them how to make my dry rubs, my barbecue sauces. and hopefully the goals of them having them become an employee at restaurant. >> while the chef says he hopes to employ between six and ten people at once. check out this good deed caught on camera. a driver caught a homeless man shivering in the cold, so he got out of his car and gave this man a coat. another driver saw this act of kindness. the video has already been seen more than 600,000 times meteorologist bill henley. >> good morning, dray. and most people will be waiting a long time before you see the first flake. but it will vary neighborhood by neighborhood. the first alert is for the entire area and through noon tomorrow. that being said during the day today, snow showers most likely in the lee high valley. scattered snow showers, you might see a little bit in the suburbs. most of the rest of the area is going to be dry. tonight that's when the steadier snow moves in. but it might not be all snow. some neighborhoods might see a mix of rain before they see the snow. we're
