For those details, lets get right to meteorologist bill henley with his first alert neighborhood forecast, a close look at communities across our area. It is going to it be a steamy one today, katy, pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware, right on through the weekend and into next week are going to feel the heat and humidity. Very hot and humid conditions, really starts building today. Well be in the middle 90s this afternoon. It will feel like its close to 100. During this time period, the temperatures and the feels like temperatures will go even higher. This morning, though, theyre coming down. 69 grows in the suburbs. 75 in philadelphia, low 70s in delaware and 68 degrees in the Lehigh Valley while its 70 in new jersey. Afternoon temperatures soar into the 90s. Well be watching for lateday showers and thunderstorms in the Lehigh Valley, the suburbs and philadelphia. Eastbound into center city, a 13minute trip from the blue route to the vine street expressway. Theres no problems there. Speeds into the 50s, high 50s. All traffic is moving. Theres nothing in your way there. Nothing in your way over on the vine street expressway. That construction is not active this morning. If you typically wake up and head out the door and give yourself a diversion, both ways between broad street and the schuylkill are open this morning east and westbound. At another point he called for immediately suspending immigration from any nation compromised by terrorism. Trump sought to unite the party and end the gathering on a high note with a strong message to the middle class and a promise to make America Great again. It is time to show the whole world that america is back, bigger and better and stronger than ever before. Trump also talked about attacks on Law Enforcement and condemned attacks on the Lgbtq Community which was met with applause. We went to local members of the pennsylvania delegation after the speech. Mayor jim kenney and the Convention Committees ceo will be there to take a look ahead to next week and point out that the dnc plans are on time and on budget. Philadelphia will host 50,000 dnc delegates, visitors and protesters next week. That will affect roads and parking. Broad street, south of packer avenue will close. Streets around fdr park and the Wells Fargo Center will also close. On sunday, the city will begin towing cars. However, the affect will not just be on People Living in south philadelphia. The victim, a mother and grandmother was found dead in her bedroom in hunting park. They family gathered outside the home on north percy street as police investigated. They tell us she was always volunteering at her church. If you were in need and it was something you needed, she would do it. The family says they think they know who may have done it. A carjacker did not get very far after stealing a car from a valet attendant in center city. He used a nif knife to threaten attendant. Were working with local animal shelters to find pets forever homes like this pair of dogs youll meet. This is kate and blue. They became orphaned after their owner in West Virginia was killed. She was electrocuted during historic flooding when she went into her basement to retrieve family photos. Neighbors only learned something was wrong when the dogs kept bark and crying. A family friend brought the dogs to a shelter in our area. Theyre being fostered out of a rescue in pottstown but they need to find a home together. Their foster home has a whole acre thats fence. They roam around the entire property. They love to just kind of do what hes doing, lay down and just be in the shade, maybe when its less warm theyll like to sun themselves more. It will be dangerous heat over the next several day, pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. Thats why weve issued a first alert for friday, saturday, sunday and monday. When the very hot and humid conditions will give us feels like temperatures of 100 to 105 degrees. And this is what it looks like during the day today for philadelphia. It will be in the low 90s at 1 00 this afternoon. Into the middle 90s but with a higher humidity, it will feel like closer to 100 degrees this afternoon. And those numbers go up this weekend. Coming down this afternoon, a possibility of some showers and thunderstorms. You can see showers moving across lake erie. Those are a possibility for us later this afternoon. The hour biff by hour forecast, throws them moving through the trenton and Lehigh Valley area. Later in the iafternoon, the potential for stronger storms. It may not be all day sunshine but it will be a hot afternoon. 95 degrees. Watch out for the storms later today. Hotter and more humid, 97 degrees after a morning low of 76 degrees. Humidity may come down a little bit on sunday. Its still going to be hot and feel like more than 100 degrees and the heat and humidity bump up on monday when we could see more storms.
