Well, it has arrived and the rain is falling into upper bucks county and the steadier rain coming down heavier not just at the shore but in New Castle County, salem and now gloucester and heading toward Camden County. You see it coming down at times but well see some breaks around the lunch time hour, well see showers in the area but not as steady as what well see to start with. 6 00. 56 degrees. Near 60 degrees at 9 00 and the wind will be steady as well as the rain much of the day out of the eastnortheast. 14 miles an hour. A few are active this morning and closure, ben franklin parkway, inner drive closed east and westbound between 21st and logan square. Two lanes in a new pattern to watch for. Also watch out 19th street south is still closed between vine street and the ben franklin parkway. Lets take a look at some of the wet cameras. This is the schuylkill expressw expressway. Even a slower drive time headed westbound from 95 to the vine street expressway. Maybe thats a good thing. But still be cautious out there. 4 33. Police in Gloucester County thought they had their man. They were about to arrest one of two men wanted in a violent Home Invasion when suddenly he got away. It was at this wawa behind me where the suspect, the man wanted by police, showed up soaking wet. Franklin township officers were called to the apartment on old dutch mill road. A man who lived there had been tied up, beaten and robbed by two men. The suspects took off running, for a minute, though, it looked like police had one of them. I stopped, you know, i submit and then he hopped the fence, boogied out of here. Then boom, cops just swarmed up, he bolted, and the whole place turned chaos. Reporter police dogs did track the scent of the suspect to a nearby swamp area but the search went cold there. Of course the next development later on in the evening was him showing up here at this wawa soaking wet, asking strangers for a ride. Today a judge will sentence a man who pleaded guilty in the murder of Philadelphia Police officer moses walker. Mcfarland took a deal in exchange for his testimony against his codefendant. In 2012 officer walker was offduty, you see him on the video there, walking to a bus stop in north philadelphia when jones and mcfarland tried to rob him. Jones shot and killed the officer. In june a judge sentenced him to life in prison without parole. The officer was a 19year veteran of the Philadelphia Police department. Ask it appears Atlantic City wont get a state bailout. Yesterday new Jersey Governor Chris Christie vetoed most of the bills that would have helped the hard hit casino city. The key bill would have let the remaining make payments instead of paying taxes for 15 years, that way operators would know how much they owe instead of facing potential increases each year. The one bill the governor did sign provides extra aid to Atlantic City schools. 4 36. If the you normally grab break fast on the road workers across the country are planning the largest strike today. Its the latest step in their fight for 15 an hour. Walkouts are planned in 270 cities including philadelphia. The protests are happening exactly one year from the 2016 president ial election. Once you get to the Center City Area or areas like 95, the schuylkill expressway, a lot of ponding there. This is the 95 right around the ben franklin bridge. You can see extra street lights as well. You can see some of that ponding more clearly here as cars move through. Now i was also checking with drive times a few moments ago and everything is a tad slow. But thats the way we want it. New jersey is the only state in our area that requires seat belts on school buses. There is a proposed law that could change that in other states. Lawmakers in texas are pushing for a better Flood Warning system after several buses were threatened by quickly rising flood waters. Take a look at these videos. Taken from inside three school buses, the drivers had to act quickly after they realized they were surrounded by flood waters. Officials say there were no barrier gates so the drivers kept moving through the roadway until they hit the flooding. Communication for that to happen and it could have before i got there have to go back to the station from the station back to the bus driver. We dont have the capability of bus drivers talking to one another. They dont have each others numbers. If seat belts are required in cars why not school buses . The feds say its time to change that. 25 million children ride a school bus every day. The American Academy of pediatrics report 7200 of those kids are hurt in accidents each year in buses and four kids die. Video from seat belt manufacturers show unrestrained dummies being tossed around, those belted in remain in their seats. Only six states require seat belts on large school buses. New jersey is one of those. The top Highway Safety officer is now pushing for tougher rules. Seat belts save lives. We want to see a threepoint seat belt on every school bus in this nation. The industry argues that getting children to buckle up is the challenge. They say it should be up to state or local authorities to decide whether to require seat belts since equipping a school bus would cost the district or the local government from 7 to 10,000 per bus. Well, this morning looking at columbia, missouri now where leaders are trying to figure out whats next after the schools president and chancellor resigned. Minority students say they have been met repeatedly with racially charged epithets on campus, last month a swastika was left on a dorm wall, things reached the Tipping Point when students on the Football Team threatened to boycott until wolfe was fire ordinary resigned. The search is on for an interim president , the universitys governing board and announced a new series of diversity initiatives including hiring a first ever diversity officer. The Company Rejected suggestions that the plane had any mechanical problem. The passenger jet crashed on october 31 almost 30 minutes after takeoff killing everyone on board.
