From the Lehigh Valley. A photojournalist is giving a look at this snowy scene here. Fortunately roads clear. In west chester, Chester County, looking like a winter wonderland. Not much else. Mostly stayed on the trees and in the shrubs. We give you a live look at i95 in south philadelphia. Visibility is very low. People have their headlights now. Lets head over to center city, ben franklin parkway. Trust us. The surface is so warm. Yesterday we were in the 60s, but its still coming down. Thats exactly what krystal told us earlier. We have first alert coverage. Lets begin with first alert meteorologist erika martin who is in our studios. Tell us whats happening. Its snowing. Yeah, its snowing, and these snowflakes are very big right now. When youre inside the studio, thats one thing. Youre getting the information out to the viewer, but out here it is lovely right now where we are. Accumulation already on my jacket. Right here on the ground. Some accumulation of snow right now. A good thing is a lot of this has already been treated. This will melt soon enough. One of my concerns, however, is as this does melt temperatures for tonight and tomorrow will be below the freezing mark. Of course, we could see a lot of this change over to some icy spots. You can see the wind starting to pick up as well. We can take a look at our satellite and radar image very quickly. I want to show you where the rainsnow line is moving toward the beach right now. Atlantic city starting to see the beginning of light flurries. Cape may, youre still in the green there. However, this system is continuing to make its way from the northwest to the southeast. Keep in mind, were not done yet. The back edge is just approaching the Lehigh Valley, but behind that we do have a little bit more moisture on the way. Meantime im out here enjoying these massive snowflakes. Its actually pretty nice, but pretreat your surfaces. Back to you in the studio. Erika looks perfect out there. Its a little warmer in here. Were looking at the shot in wilmington. It is hard to see this is frauley stadium because the snow is coming out very steady. There wasnt much sticking to the grassy spots because the temperatures on the surface are just on the cusp of freezing. We have these warm grounds from yesterdays 60s. Heres a look at philadelphia. This is in center city. Look at the visibility here. This is in miles. When youre at half a mile or a quarter of a mile, thats where we get difficulty in driving. We now looking even at that rough visibility, Atlantic City to millville less than a mile. A good and steady snow is falling across much of our region. Hourbyhour forecast, well, were at 11 00. We go to 12 30 and its already thinning out in the Lehigh Valley and berks county. Now it is pulling out of philadelphia and thinning in south jersey at 2 00. From 2 00 to 3 00, most of this moves offshore. We still have in the afternoon and early evening hours some lingering snow showers that could briefly pack a punch, so this is not going to end until we get into your overnight. Then we have a very cold weekend forecast. Well talk about that and the potential for more snow coming up. Meanwhile, we have a team of reporters tracking the snow. Thats right. Lets start with pamela osborne. Shes live in doylestown, bucks county. Pam . Reporter yeah, a pretty steady snow here in doylestown as you can see from our picture right now. We talked to a lot of people who said theyre just ready for spring. The news reports said it was coming, so i wasnt surprised. Im not happy about it though. Reporter and in allentown, people were out and about early this morning salting the sidewalks first thing. We saw the mailman even making his deliveries and other people trying to bundle up, keep warm, and get to work this morning. Similar story in doylestown. The snow isnt sticking on the ground, but it was definitely falling and at times reducing visibility. Just one little blast of winter left. We were actually in storm force all morning long. There was a guy who was driving by, rolled down his window and said, hey, this is it, right . I said unfortunately were talking about more snow on tuesday. He seemed a little bit disappointed. Were actually going to get back inside of storm force. Were going to give you a look at the roads, the highways, when i come back at 11 30. Im pamela osborne, nbc10 news. Well see you then. We take it one storm at a time. Our Team Coverage continues now as we head closer to philadelphia. Katy zachry is live in Chestnut Hill with a look at the conditions. Reporter hi vai. Hi rosemary. The accumulation of snow and winter elements is pretty significant. I can tell you look how good this snow is for packing snowballs. There we go. I was going to hit the lens, but i would ruin the rest of our live shot, so i cant do that right now. Most of the grassy surfaces and pavements have decent coats like this. Its in harsh contrast to what youre seeing on germantown avenue and streets throughout the city. The wa because of the warmer temperatures, its not sticking to the roads. It did make it tricky for those walking to school because the snow here started around 7 30. For those walking to school, they were dealing with the elements. We caught up with kids and their parents heading to school this morning. It was slick at tifor them at t crossing the road. Some kids were lucky enough to get driven to school because of the weather today. Yesterday people were wearing flipflops. Today you have to wear your snow boots. Its ridiculous. If it is fun if youre clothed, have your hat on and jacket and everything. Its great to be out in. Katy zachry, nbc10 news. I think katy was trying to hit the photograph, not the lens. I think shes getting some practice for when shes out with her kid later. Now is a good time to download the free nbc10 app. Youll get realtime information and updates on this wintry weather. Theyre okay. The driver was complaining of rib pain. He and the aide on the bus are at Saint Francis hospital. A witness who came to help them says they are in a little rougher shape. When i got to the dump truck, i noticed they were bleeding really bad. The lady was pinned underneath the dashboard. I asked them were they okay. Look, lets call 911 right now. Dont nobody touch nobody. Then the cops and everybody showed up. Reporter the dump truck occupants are at kristiana hospital. It was not weather related. He said it was driver e rrror. It was a pretty ugly scene, but no lifethreatening injuries. More good news. This one for drivers who travel over the Delaware River turnpike bridge. It is open for the First Time Since it was closed for emergency repairs. It opened last night weeks ahead of schedule. You see it in parts of berks county and Chester County. Whats going to happen with these is its not going to be as widespread, long lasting as we saw through our morning hours, but it will be for brief periods of time steady to heavy in some areas.
