We know the bus is causing more traffic. They say the strike now has their family of seven relying on just one car. We got this with my moms car. We had to wait for her to finish up and my brothers and sisters would have to walk home. Philadelphia schools were open. Students who rely on septa were allowed an excused absence. Too far to walk for you . Yes. Thats a lot. Reporter she was determined to show up. I had to wait for my mom to wake up to drive me to school. Im like an hour late. Reporter and they say the most difficult part of all of this is not knowing when the strike itself is going to come to an end, when they can stop making the alternative arrangements. They are hoping this getting resolved very soon. Im Pamela Osborne, nbc 10 news. Pennsylvania governor released this statement on the septa strike. It reads in part the inability to reach an agreement will create extreme hardships. I continue to urge them to continue talking until a compromise is reached. Traffic has been heavy all morning long as you might expect because of the septa strike. Lets get to jessica boyington. What are you seeing . Well tell you what is expected with this septa strike. The broad street subway system, trolleys 10, 11, 13, 15, 34 and 36 are not running. What is running are the Regional Rails on the northbound high speed line and all suburban buses. Alternatives are strongly enkourjd because you dont really have an option. Seeing major delays on the rest of mass transit. Earlier we were dealing with 60 minute delays. We are dealing with at least 30 minute delays. Well see a little bit of a lull in the afternoon. Towards the evening commute well start to see significant delays there. Uber, lyft, others might be good ways to avoid some of the traffic. Lets get more around the area. This is on route 30 eastbound right around federal street. We also have an accident on commerce road. Most of the majors right now looking a bit better. This is just being normal volumes. Thank you. It is completely bloked off on the westbound side approaching the blue route. It is blocking all lanes. Traffic completely dead stopped. We are seeing a slow down on the eastbound side. It really starts to get jammed up as you move towards the blue route. Its not an accident in the area. A motorcade is moving through. Once the motorcade moves through they will reopen the road again. In baltimore six people are dead involving a school bus and commuter bus. The School Bus Driver died, so did five on the city bus. Ten others went to the hospital. Police say the school bus hit another car and then a pillar before continuing into oncoming traffic hitting the commuter bus. They had a medical emergency possibly before losing control.
