In the meantime, those who knew frank rizzo are calling to keep this statue in place. Thomas gibbons still has the radio recording from frank rizzo when gibbons was shot on the job. He locked thu his own archives pulling out books and pictures of frank rizzo. I think its up to the people who still remember him and had experience with him to speak out. Rizzo died 25 years ago. The tough talking former cop and mayor was a major figure in gibbons life. He remembers the riots of the 1960s. His security force, it was mostly black guys. All of the black guys in the department thought the world of him. Were not playing racism olympics here. Reporter a councilwoman is call r if the statue to be removed. They said tactics were racially motivated. In the 1960s rizzo was credited with having the most africanamerican officers among a city department.
