coming up at 5:30. now to more breaking news. jurors in the eric frein murder trial have reached a verdict. you're looking live at a picture at the courthouse as we wait for that verdict to be read. frein is accused of ambushing two pennsylvania state troopers in pike county. prosecutors say he used a sniper rifle to kill one trooper and wound another. frein's defense team never called a single witness throughout this trial. they say if he's kwibted, they will work to persuade the jury. randy gyllenhaal is inside the courtroom and will bring you the verdict as soon as we have it. >> to this now, it's crunch time along the ben franklin parkway with the nfl draft just eight days away. brand new road closures are making it more difficult to get around there right now. tonight the nfl is took part in the roundtable discussion. the delaware candidates network has been pushing for legislation to legalize marijuana since 2013. they are hopeful today's discussion is a step forward in massachusetts today investigators found former new england patriots star aaron hernandez dead in his jail cell. >> hernandez wants to know what really happened. >> less than a week after an emotional celebration as he was cleared of double murder charges, former patriot aaron hernandez is now dead. found early this morning inside his prison cell after an apparent suicide. >> my understanding is aaron hernandez was in solitary confinement probably tr his protection. >> reporter: behind bars since 2013 when he was arrested and convicted in the shooting death of his friend o'din lloyd. hernandez tried to block his cell from the inside before hanging himself with a bed sheet. >> within the jail cell, more shocking because you'd think there would be people paying attention, watching what's happening. >> reporter: his family and legal teams say they are shocked and surprised by his death. especially as hernandez began the appeal of his murder conviction. his honor in a statement saying aaron was looking forward to an opportunity for a second chance to prove his innocence. hernandez played his last game as a patriot in 2013. today many of his former teammates were at the white house celebrating their super bowl championship. >> sad story with a sad ending and really no witness. >> his attorneys are calling for a transparent and thorough investigation into hernandez's death. and prison officials do say their investigation into the circumstances surrounding hernandez's death is continuing right now. jay gray, nbc news, shirley, massachusetts. > the patriots players skipped the ceremony for political reasons. the patriots owner presented trump with a personalized super bowl enginejersey. trump signed a bill extending a program for veterans. the program allows vets to more easily go outside the health system for care. it would have expired in august. the department of homeland security can wanthouse to be on the lookout for a new phone scamp. they pose and try to get you to give up your personal information. they even spoof your caller i.d. to make it look like they are calling from the homeland security hot line. dhs says it never asks for personal now. let's go up to robinsville. so not as warm a day as we have seen the past few days. but not as cold as we're going to get by sunday. it's going to be chilly on sunday. 59 right now in philly. the winds are out of the south and southeast. we have cloud cover. we'll continue with cloud cover right on through the night. 55 by 11:00. the clouds act as a little bit of an insulating blanket. you can't radiate the warmth if it's being bounced back by the clouds. we're not going to be too cold. we'll make it into the 50s overnight. hour by hour forecast, we're locking at southeast winds to continue to see those overnight tonight. now look at this. about 2:30 in the morning, you could see showers moving through. and then the winds start to shift to the southwest. what does that do? brings in much warmer air. so tomorrow 70s. friday, near 80 degrees across the area. not a record breaker, but nice and warm. we make it into the mid-70s. the winds turn to the west. this is a land breeze. this is the mild condition. over night we could see some thunderstorms around the area. so some showers but you notice they are widely scattered. this continues to friday morning. and look at where we wind up. by the evening, we clear out. we'll get a little sunshine on friday afternoon and evening. 80 degrees across the area. so your three-day outlook, 80 on friday. and saturday down to 65. 63 on saturday. not a bad day. we'll be looking at 74 in the lehigh valley. 70 gets a little cooler towards saturday. but for the most part, you get the idea the soggy days on saturday we're going to see the sunshine with a little bit of cloud cover. we'll talk about what's going to happen on your sunday. it's not the nicest of days out there. i got to tell you. it looks rather soggy and harassment allegations. protesters outside network headquarters have been calling on fox to fire bill o'reilly and his show lost more than 60 advertisers. here is bill o'reilly's statement he he just issued. it is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims. but that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today. e he goes on to thank fox and his viewers. turning the page, dawn timmeney's inauguration was a record breaker. his figures now new figures that billionaires and corporations helped trump raise $107 million for his they will try to persuade the jury to sway the vote. we will bring you the vote as soon as we have it. the family of an hohmann killed in the shooting that was posted on facebook says his funeral will be saturday. the 74-year-old was gunned down on easter sunday. the owner of a mcdonald's in pennsylvania is giving more praise to his staff for helping catch godwin's killer. a work er at the mcdonald's spotted steve stephens when e he pulled up to the drive-thru and workers stalled stephens by telling his him fries weren't ready. stephens killed himself shortly after a chase. i couldn't be prouder of my employees and the restaurant and the state police. everybody came together and did whae with had to do. >> the search for b stephens lasted two days and caused a scare here in philadelphia. a reported sightings of stephens in fairmont park put dozens of schools on lockdown on monday. reports turned up nothing. was ever in philadelphia. philadelphia police are looking for this man that who punched an 81-year-old woman in the face and stole her bag. it happened as a woman stepped off a bus in east mound. the suspect got out of a car trying to take her bag when she fought back is when he knocked her to the ground. the transit agency wants to raise its rates. it's holding a public hearing about it in media. they want riders and residents to come and ask questions. the meeting runs until 6:00 at the courthouse. if you can't make it tonight, there are several other hearings scheduled. check out the nbc 10 app for dates and locations. a proposal to renovate the boys and girls club may have hit a road block. historical commission met this morning in center city. it's possible the boys and girls club building may be up for preservation nomination. dead by police after a chase. we're talking to witnesses who saw the start of that chase. >> denise joins us live in wilmington with that part of the story. >> there continues to be a heavy police presence at 24th and market streets in wilmington. new castle county police are leading this investigation beyond where those two officers are standing. the chase started here and ended with a suspect dead. that's where police started just after 2:00 p.m. when a man they were following refused to stop. sky force ten. it ended in a crash in washington street extension. local and state police vehicles and evidence markers could be seen at both locations. back to where it started, people are in disbelief over how the incident unfolded. >> two officers involved have been taken to the hospital to be examined. >> now to an nbc 10 exclusive. police in montgomery county are searching for a woman accused of trying to kidnap a man she found on craigslist. >> that suspect talked to nbc 10 says she won't turn herself in any time soon. >> deanna durante says she should do the right thing and go to police. >> reporter: that woman said over the phone that she would be an idiot to turn herself into investigators. police have made contact with her and want her to come here and talk with them. and give up the names of her alleged akom polices. >> i'm calling you because there's a warrant out for your arrest. >> reporter: laura mound said she did nothing wrong and said she had nothing to do with the crime. this man says it happened to him. >>. >> he did you wantment to be identified and fell victim to mound and friends who showed up to this parking lot. the man met mound through craigslist, an ad he placed looking for friends to hang out with. >> it's a scary thing. you wouldn't expect to get held up by a female. >> reporter: the friends she was with is a man and a woman and they have yet to identify them. after weeks of contacting her over the phone and attempting to get to contact them, she has refused. and she hasn't named the people she was with that night. mounds told me, quote, only an idiot would turn herself in. >> i guess that's what happens. you have evil people out there. >> now this woman is charged with a number of crimes including attempted kid. nap iping. what makes the case so serious is there was a gun b and a knife involved. if murder trial. the county is speaking now. let's listen in. >> the defendant eric frein guilty of all counts, including first-degree murder and terrorism. some of that is really just how juries go about deliberation. as soon as they were in the jury room, they were asked to give a lunch order. juries are individual, whether they talk about something over lunch or whether they wait for lunch to come and they finish that and get to deliberation. so that's when they were given the case. i don't know how many hours. >> guilty on all counts. what does that say about the evidence you presented and you're still pursuing the death permanen penalty. why is that on the table? >> we believe there are aggravating factors to be presented under the law for the consideration of the jury. and the evidence that is already been presented to the jury will be moved into evidence at the penalty phase tr their consideration in that phase. >> with aggravating factors we're going to ask can the jury to consider the appropriate sentence in this case. >> this caps off a long skpo two and a half years. what does it mean for the region that was watching this go down from the murder to the manhunt and now the trial? >> this case is not yet over. we have a very serious and somber proceeding to go through. and i hope that the businesses here in the poconos and all the residents take some solace that justice has been done. >> as you are aware, there are victim impact evidence that can be presented. so the jurors will have an opportunity to consider the impact that corporal brian dixon's death has guilty. here's a look at some of the stories making head loins across our region today. >> a north wales woman was sentenced to prison for a murder of her ex-husband. the 64-year-old pled guilty to third degree murder. she had been facing first degree charges after found guilty after shooting her husband last may. her attorneys argued she was retaliating for years of physical and sexual abuse. delaware county police in springfield have a warning for parents of teenage kids. they are stepping up police presence in the wake of recent unlawful activity by a large group of teens. the teens have been involved in everything from underaged drinking to bullying. anyone who fits that description will be prosecuted to the fullest extent. moving to the county, investigators are looking for the cause of this apartment building fire. everyone made it out okay, but a firefighter did hurt his ankle jumping from a window when a floor clpsed. police in ocean city are cracking down on concrete gra tee fee. it requires homeowners to repair any sidewalks or curve that have any images carved into them. anyone who fails to comply could be billed by the city or have a le lien placed on the property. crews working to remove a pair of abandoned boats. the shannon marie has been beached since the storm in january. the nor'easter 2 is sitting mostly submerged a few yards away. it's been b in the water since 2015. they are it using grant money to remove the shannon marie. the nor'easter 2 will cost close to $30,000. the atlantic city police department is accepting applications for class 2 officers. they will hire the boardwalk area. the jobs offer 40-hour workweeks at $15 an hour. in harrisburg, house democrats unveiled a series of reform bills. they are aimed at treating them equally in all charter and traditional schools. it comes as lawmakers consider a separate measure to overhaul how charter schools are funded. criminal charges have been filed against a group accused of running a multimillion dollar automobile crime ring. more than a dozen people have been charged. the attorney general says the crime ring sold more than 100 license plates anyone looking to avoid school, first computer, first zoo, first newspaper and first nfl draft. philly has hosted the draft 12 times, more than any other city not named new york. so here at the corner of broad and walnut now sits a wawa. 81 years ago it was the site of the first ever nfl draft. the eagles had the first pick. he said no to football, he started selling adhesive products and made a fortune. they had better luck in other drafts. they drafted hall of famers tommy mcdonald, but as our hall of famer tells us the draft has come a long way. >> there was no real scouting to speak of. you literally had nfl storm system going by to the north. it could clip places like trenton and allentown in the wee hours of the morning. then it looks like the morning commute maybe no shower activity, but certainly cloud cover. the wind has turned to the southwest. that's going to warm us into the 70s. near 80 by the time we get to friday. take a look at this. 7:30 tomorrow night, we're going to see showers and then maybe some thunderstorms moving through. perhaps even doils town and philly. that's going to be into the wee hours of friday morning. then it locks like things quiet down. maybe a spotty shower weeks. >> i still do not have a rebate check. and they just keep stringing me along. >> it was recalled for the same safety reason. >> i'm going to go out and get myself a new washer. >> he's disappointed with the rebate check he got. >> they are offering me $156. that's crazy. that's just not fair. >> they have claned to samsung tr weeks. then they contacted nbc 10 responds. after we contacted samsung, it increased the rebate to $529. >> you're happy? >> good. >> she got her check plus interest for a total of $688.99. >> without channel 10, i wouldn't have accomplished this. >> samsung says it bases the amount of rebate on the fair market value. the company declined to tell us why it changed the amount of the rebate. it also declined to explain what took so long for her to get her check, but their priority is to reduce safety risk in the home. their recovery count er brings our total now up to $428,906. >> quite a large number there. if you have consumer complaint for
