today. >> in the next hour we expect several developments from washington, d.c. at 5:15, senator schumer will call on republicans in the senate to oppose president trump's executive order then at six, democratic lawmakers will host a rally at the supreme court. >> also today the council on islamic relations argues it's unconstitutional. >> late this afternoon we heard from former president obama a spokesperson released in part, quote, the president fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion. >> the white house continues to defend this order and insists it's only temporary while they review the vetting process for people coming in to the u.s. here are the main points from the executive order. for the next 90 days no immigration will be allowed from the following seven countries. iran, iraq, libya, somali, sudan and yemen. the order also suspends the entire u.s. refugee program for 120 days and that applies to all countries except for syria where the refugee program will be suspended indefinitely. the inconvenience for the ban is small compared with the need to protect every american. >> i'm sorry that some folks may have had to wait a while but the president would much rather know that he's not placing a call to someone who was killed because someone was let into this country to commit a terrorist act. >> the white house press secretary acknowledged there was not a specific security threat that led to the president's executive order. >> more local colleges are warning students and staff about how this order could effect them. lauren mayk joins us live from the university. what are you hearing there? >> reporter: i have spent the day talking to people from universities across our region and they tell me it is effecting some of their students. both in terms of where they can travel and get back in and then also in terms of anxiety just in the last hour. we spoke with the chief operating officer of the international house a few blocks from here. they host internationals students from around the globe. they are opposing this order and they're trying to offer support to students. at international house in university city there's a poster offering residents a chance to talk about it, how they feel about the president's executive order. some are directly effected coming from one of the seven countries listed. >> the executive order has created a climate of fear and uncertainty among the thousands of international students that are in america to pursue their academic dreams. >> reporter: the university warnings to effected students aren't about academics but travel. the bottom line to the message, don't leave the country right now because it's unclear when you'll be able to come back. it's as a result of the president's executive order effecting citizens of seven countries. at temple university, anxiety. >> our biggest function i think is to help the students distinguish between what's true and what's not true because if you go on to social media there's a lot out there that's not true. >> reporter: tem people's office is answering questions for both effected students and other international ones. >> are you hearing from other students? >> everybody who is an international student or who heads a nonimmigrant status i'm assuming is concerned. >> reporter: in university city international house philadelphia hosts international students and says many of it's 309 residents are worried about their future in the u.s. >> it's effected all of us here. >> reporter: one of the most important messages these universities are giving to students is to monitor information and look for any potential changes. they are doing the same thing. live in university city i'm lauren mayk nbc10 news. >> now recent poll of voters found many americans do support the idea behind this executive order in a poll taken earlier this month. nearly half of voters say they supported suspended immigration from terror prone regions even if it's means turning away refugees from those regions the same poll found more than half of voters wanted to require immigrants from muslim countries to register with the federal government. nbc10's deanna durante reached out to voters who supported president trump and asked if this changed their mind. >> reporter: they are one big family and their views differs quite a bit. >> what i think about trump, he's a nightmare. >> reporter: he didn't support trump in the election and he still doesn't. >> i think he's falling through with the promised he promised the people with immigration. things like obamacare that are hurting a lot of people in the middle class. >> he would still have his trump for president sign out if it hadn't been stoleth. >> my main reason to enhance our obamacare, stand with our second amendment and stand with police officers. >> reporter: some at this table quite frankly why they didn't support him and others will tell them why it's too earlier. >> trump ran on a certain platform and he was elected on that platform and i think within ten days he's already showing that he meant business. >> reporter: some here say they personally know those effected by the travel ban they say president trump is just making good on his campaign promises. >> i'm z-ieted about trump. i'm excited that he's shaking things up. we're -- we can be republican again. >> reporter: they're not surprised by the actions of president trump after all this is what he campaigned on and this is what he promised to do. they do say they're waiting to see what comes next. in the lehigh valley deanna durante nbc10 news. >> elsewhere critics of the order have called it everything from unconstitutional to poorly executed and that includes some of our own local lawmakers. republican pat toomey i support the administration's decision to increase vetting and temporarily suspend the entry of certain individuals. the executive order was flawed. it was too broad and poorly explained. >> republican congressman frank low beon dough referred to the orders execution as hasty and urged the trump immigration to quickly reassess. we wanted to hear from our local lawmakers face-to-face. we sent nbc10 tim furlong to washington, d.c. he'll join us in the next half hour. >> on the same night people are getting together to remember two young girls killed in a hit and run we are getting new information about the man accused of killing them. kenneth are you sure is charged with homicide, manslaughter and dui. he is out on bail. police arrested him saturday night. he hit the two girls, left and then came back. 10-year-old braxton and 19-year-old kimberly phillips were crossing roosevelt boulevard when they were hit and killed. family and friends are holding a vigil for the sisters at the scene pft crash. >> the grandmother was killed in another deadly hit and run last week. police are still looking for the driver. catherine brown was living a birthday party with her grandchildren. she was hit and killed by a white mini van at the intersection of 57th and girard. police say she died a hero. she threw her 3-year-old grandson out of the path of the speeding van and he survived. >> dpaerl county school will be closed until at least friday because a boiler there exploded. the boiler explosion led to a gas leak. the building lost heat. there were no students inside when this happened and no one was hurt. >> officials in north hampton county a police officer was justified when he shot and killed a suicidal man last year. three officers responded to the home of scott macintosh last december. the sister alerted them after she received text messages from her brother saying he wanted to die by suicide by police. >> the jury expected to begin deliberating tomorrow in the civil trial involving this deadly collapse along philadelphia's market street. relatives and survivors filed that lawsuit. seven people died and it 12 whurt when a building being demolished fell on to a salvation army store in 2013. among those being sued are the buildings owners, the demolition crew and the salvation army. >> also this even a bishop attacked on the alter. >> bring us to ever lasting life. >> what led up to this incident at a new jersey church that's next, all new at five. in the wake of the deadly attack on a canadian mosque last night philadelphia police now they are stepping up security at mosques throughout the city. nbc10 news now reports one of the two men arrested after the attack is considered a suspect. his name alexander bissanet. the other is being treated as a witness. he killed six people. quebec's premier talked about the attack today. >> quebec city today has been hit by terrorism, hard to believe in such a peaceful, beautiful city that such a thing could happen. >> five victims remain in critical condition tonight. >> we have new video that shows a man suddenly attacking a bishop in new jersey while he was right in the middle of his certify mon. we should warn you some viewers may find this video difficult to watch. >> come bring us to ever lasting life. >> security guards right there they tackled the man right after the assault. it happened saturday at the bishop was speaking at the cathedral in newark. the bishop is okay. he needed a couple of stitches, though and police still do not know why the man attacked the bishop. >> back now to one of our top stories of the day, the battle of over president trump's immigration plan. >> here are the main points from the president trump's executive order. for 90 days no immigration will be allowed from the following seven majority muslim countries. iran, iraq, libya, somali, sudan, syria and yemen. mark murray joins us live from washington, d.c. after a weekend of demonstrations across the country. >> thanks for being here. this action s has caused an eruption of lawsuits and new legislative action. what do you expect the political fallout might be? >> it's hard to tell but right now just diagnosing it 48 hours, 72 hours afterwards and i think the trump administration should be a little bit concerned. maybe the biggest reason they're have been republican deflections. dozen republican lawmakers either from the house or united states senate have said they disagree with this travel ban or they have some serious reservations about it. there are some supporters and say this was needed but whenever you see a fisure within your own party you have to be concerned. the biggest roadblock ahead for donald trump and his administration are the courts and already we saw one stay and it was -- it wasn't a broad stay but certainly more courts that get involved and more lawsuits would end up having some cause some troubles for the policy that this administration formulates. >> so what could we expect to come out of the rally that's planned in washington later on today? >> what is been amazing so far in being someone who covers politics is that the rallies in washington we're in day 11 of the trump administration and we've had two weekends worth of rallies and then morallies ahead as you ended up mentioning in this washington, d.c. metro areas including philadelphia have all been protesting centrals. it is obviously a hallmark of our politics that people protest whether you're democratic, republican, independent, someone in the middle but so far the energy that you've actually seen from forces who are very upset about some of these early moves from the trump administration coming this early are very extraordinary in my eyes. >> big move coming tomorrow. president has promised to reveal his nominee for u.s. supreme court. what do you we expect there? >> my pete williams says two finalists. one is neil gorsuch from the denver area, conservative but doesn't have any big marks that democrats would necessarily be able to go after at least at this stage right now and the other person is from thomas hardman appealat judge from the pittsburgh area and again doesn't seem to necessarily set up a humongous political clash, almost sometimes the smallest of things become very heated and very polarized early on. we're going to get that tomorrow but those are the two finalists. >> mark murray live for us in washington. thanks for the incites. >> thank you. along a snow covered boardwalk. that was just some of the snow we saw. some areas got more sne this afternoon. >> there could be more tomorrow. let's get your most accurate forecast. >> so this morning was a light snow that lingered through the morning hours. we saw that collection two to three inches around delaware and the jersey shore. this afternoon we saw a snow squall or a quick moving period of more steady to heavy snow than those snow showers passed through. it moved through philadelphia to the point where this camera we're looking at here made it where you could not see any of the buildings but now, we got the sun out, clear conditions for us as we end our day. so that's how quick this is moving through and it's breaking apart quite a bit as well. take a look at where the line was right there you see it through philadelphia now where it is in new jersey. this is quickly moving in the last hour or so. take a look where we have still some heavy to steady snow falling down through burlington county and browns mills. it's a rain/snow mix because temperatures are a tad above freezing there. we saw temperatures drop as well. the snow we did see passing through cape may county, sea isle city out through the water. look at the temperatures we're dealing with as a result. we've dropped through freezing. 32 in egg harbor township. we go over to our philadelphia neighborhoods and same deal we're looking at temperatures that are in the low 30s. parkside 31, but port richmond still at 36 degrees, fox chase right at freezing, 32 degrees. it's already a cold one out there. it's going to continue to drop overnight to another chilly evening for us. hour-by-hour forecast. that was the second round of some scattered snow showers that we were calling for and now we got to get ready for the next morning for the snow to move through. this is going to clip along to the north of us. start seeing that snow in the early morning hours, say around 7, 8:00 a.m. and this could just drop a little in the suburbs but that starts to move out as we get into your early afternoon and cloudier conditions and some scattered rain showers possible in the afternoon. we're going to see moisture but this time mostly limited to philadelphia and north instead of philly and south. that moves out as we go through the evening hours. we really do start to dry out. here are the temperatures for tomorrow, 40 degrees in fairmount, notice a little rain/snow mix. more likely we'll see some lighter snow passing through the suburbs, 37 for shanksville and 40 for elwin. reading some snow 36 degrees. that's the afternoon high temperature. of course colder as we start the morning. you can see the lows in the low 20s for parts of the loifl and berks county. in new jersey possibly some rain/snow mix as well. buena 46. we go to the jersey shore, delaware more likely we'll stay on the dryer side just isolated rain shower. 48 degrees. that high. we do have those spots snow showers still possible. better chances are farther north. 40 degrees. we stay around 40 wednesday and we see that driout that continues through your friday and saturday. look at the cool down. a jewish school in ocean county. the two men broke into the z-eb school in lakewood early saturday morning. they stole a handwritten copy of the torra worth an estimated $70,000. 15 years ago today an upper darby police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty and today he was honored in more than one way. the philadelphia police department gifted this portrait of officer denis macin a mara take a look at all the snow in delaware county a short time ago. neil got leeb sent us this video. >> flurries were falling across much of the reason this afternoon. we spotted some light flakes there. >> the snow's moving through really quickly. take a look at the left side of your screen. that was the scene in cape may in 4:00. on the right you see it stopped completely. this is the second round of snow we saw today and it might not be the last. >> let's get an update now on your most accurate forecast meteorologist krystal klei and is anyone seeing the snow right now? >> we're seeing some spots with snow but it's pretty amazing that throughout the day it's been a roller coaster for folks. this is a look at rehoboth beach where this morning we had some snow past through southern delaware. now you see it's sunny in rehoboth beach. but now completely clear shot. take a look at had a radar's showing us currently. the blues/whites you see that's where the snow is trying to make it to the ground. we do have a few spots that are still dropping down flakes. we're dropping down chester county and pottstown. into delaware, through new castle county, newark, wilmington trying to get a few flakes as well. these are just spot areas of snow. little showers that are passing on. it's very brief in nature. this was once a line of snow a squall that was passing through philly and into parts of camden county. it is moving out of burlington county and up to atlantic koint or ocean county and woodland this area still seeing some periods of more steady snow. this is going to move off shore and we got the next round tomorrow morning. we'll track that out hour by hour coming up. >> right now at 5 opponents stepping up their fight against president trump immigration order. >> while the white house refuses to back down. will that lead to any action from congress? tim furlong down to washington, d.c. so he could reach out to our lawmakers face-to-face. >> and some lawmakers will be showing up right where you are? >> reporter: in about a half hour democratic lawmakers from the house and senate they're going to come over here to the steps of the supreme court to protest president trump executive order. there's a lot of nonpoliticians as well. some people here call it unfair, it's un-american. some republicans say it's not really going to accomplish the real intent of keeping american's safe at home. many major airports around the country as some refugee as immigration families who have gone through the legal process to come here were either detained or sent back. here's what corey booker had to say about the policy. >> it is so offensive to who we are as a nation that your entrance into our nation should be determined by how you pray. and this makes us more dangerous because our enemies, terrorists are trying to cast our efforts against them as a war on islam. >> and back live to the supreme court. it's not clear if booker will come to the protest at six. we just spoke with the republican congressman from the lehigh valley. he wants the president to put the ban on hold and take some time to work with other government agencies to try to take more patient thoughtful look how this is really going to effect people and who we're trying to keep in or out of the country. we'll bring you back here live at six where the protest with senators and congressman is supposed to begin about 6:00. we're live at the steps of the supreme court in washington. >> we'll see you then. a south jersey 9/11 survivor is speaking out today in favor of president trump's executive order on immigration. lou giacardo supports president trump effort. he escaped the world trade center south tower on the morning of september 11th. no one should be surprised by the travel ban. it's part of what the president campaigned on. he says it's aimed at safety and protection and not an attack on the muslim faith. >> he's just doing what he feels right right now to protect our country. right now they're in our country. isis is in our country right now. he wants to stop that and then work to decide to get rid of them. >> he went on to say he hopes lawmakers strengthen and solidify the vetting process. >> we'll have much more on this debate coming up on nbc10 nightly news with lester holt. >> right now the senate holding a confirmation vote on secretary of state rex tillerson. you are looking live right now inside the capitol. he needs the support of 51 senators for confirmation. republican senator pat toomey says he will vote in favor of tillerson. democratic bob casey has not said how he will vote. tillerson is the former ceo and was a controversial pick for secretary of state. democrats have doubted tillerson's willingness to be tough with russia. >> unbelievable highly respected. judge thomas hardman who lives in pittsburgh and neil gorsuch who lives in denver are his top picks. the president signed another executive this one massively cuts regulations for small business. he was surrounded by small business leaders in the oval office. the president said the order would be the biggest such act our country has ever seen. >> a group at drexel university wants 100% of women to be eligible to vote by the year 2020. the group is called vision 2020. they met today at the national constitution center to talk about strategies to make that [ girl screaming ] [ laughter ] >> battling the opioid epidemic. nbc10 a temple university in north philadelphia as the governor led a discussion on fighting drug addiction. local lawmakers, education leaders and medical professionals joined the panel. governor wolf says it's his priority to make sure every pennsylvania has access to mental health. lawmakers in new jersey are also taking steps to address the epidemic. they approved legislation today requiring health insurers to cover opioid addiction treatment for up to six months. the bill would also limit initial opioid prescriptions to a five day supply. governor chris christie is devoting his final year in office to battling the drug crisis. >> philadelphia mayor jim kenny helped cut the ribbon on an urgent care in philly. the new facility will focus on providing patients with a relaxed and stressfree environment. >> new research says simple activities can help protect your brain as you head in to your golden years. seniors who regularly use a computer, make crafts, play games, socialize and read books were less likely to experience mental decline. but researchers say the results do not apply to high priced computer games that claim to keep the brain sharp. those games were not part of the stutdy. >> next at five, chaos and confusion at the airport over president trump's travel ban. tonight we follow up with local immigration ban caused confusion and anger at airports around the country this weekend. tonight at jfk airport dozens of volunteers attorneys are still wait not guilty terminals to help people clear customs. >> they have already helped 40 people but they believe their work is far from over. two people have been sent back to their home countries of sudan and iran and two others remain unacted for. the rallies were quite large outside of the airport. today a smaller group of protesters gathered there. >> this fight has to keep going. we have to be this vigilant every single day for the next four years. just because i know longer have the faith that my country has my back and so we now have to have each other's backs despite the governments. >> attorneys say they have received hundreds of inquiries from people who were not able to board their international flights. now yesterday at philadelphia international airport about 5,000 people gathered to protest the travel ban. at least one person was arrested during that protest for a minor offense. >> not guilty plea today from the man accused of five people and wounding six others in the ft. lauderdale hollywood airport. >> santiago opened fire in the baggage claim area back on january 6th. if convicted he could face the death penalty. >> a harrisburg man pleaded guilty today from trying to help isis. he tweeted out a list that identified and targeted people serving in the u.s. military. the 20-year-old faces the possibility of 25 years behind bar. he's a natural born american citizen. he was arrested in harrisburg back in december 2015. investigators say he tweeted a list of more than 100 american military personnel along with instructions to kill them. >> now to your first alert weather. we saw some large wet flakes of snow falling earlier today in cape may. pretty wintry scene down the jersey shore. we saw more flurries this afternoon. >> there could be more tomorrow. let's check in with meteorologist krystal klei. >> so we had a couple waves. this morning was the first which was in delaware and along the jersey shore then we had some of those snow showers pass as we move into our afternoon. we're still tracking just a few spot areas here. one passing right through wilmington, another getting ready to start to track into philadelphia county. let's take a closer look here. this is passing right near limb rick and starting to get through delaware county and chester county. this is not quite as steady or heavy as the last squall was. it is going to be bring a few flakes in. you see the other area of snow near wilmington. this area just -- this is going to move on into salem county and cumberland county. it's small. it'll weaken. then we go to the shore. this was actually part of the squall that did pass through philly and into chester county then through camden county and left some spots where it was low visibility. passing toms river and near ship bottom this is about to move offshore here. you can still see spot areas where snow is coming down and these are these snow showers lingering earlier when we were in that 4:00 newscast. there's a big drop in the temperature as a result of the cooler air. 29 degrees voorhees, audubon the same. florence you'll also at 32 degrees and down to those upper 20s and princeton at 29. we look at temperatures in parts of berks county and the lehigh valley. 31 reading. leonardsville down to 27 degrees and it's important to notice these temperatures already at or below freezing. it will fall as snow in these areas because temperatures are low enough for that. here's your hour-by-hour forecast. most of the snow we're seeing is off. this is starting right around midnight. now we're just left with some clearing conditions. on your tuesday, 7:00 a.m. berks county lehigh valley up to the poconos and this is going to track just farther south of the suburbs. maybe a few flakes into philadelphia as well. we're not talking accumulation until you go farther to the north and west. by 1:00 p.m. this moves on out and the next little round passes through. at this point temperatures in the afternoon will be warm enough that it will be rain or rain/snow mix for us. so today it was mostly philly and south but we saw more impressive snow. we're looking philly and north to see that potential passing through and that starts to move out as we go through the overnight. let's talk the amount of snow we're looking at. this is just one model but does a pretty good job here. maybe a coating for the parts of suburbs. one inch up to three inches for mt. poconos. this is not going to be a major snow producer. another light snow passage like we saw this morning. as for your temperatures, they're going to do a little climbing here. even areas like allentown making it into the lower 40s, 50 for wildwood. they drop right down. friday 29 degrees, the high temperature in allentown only a temperature of 34 for your friday in philly. 37 in dover. we'll take a look at that ten day on ten coming up in your next half hour. >> a program designed to get people to spend money in local shops is taking off in camden county. it offers haddonfield home owners a tax credit for shopping locally. haddonfield has some of the highest taxes in camden county. now 20 businesses and nearly 800 home owners are taking part. >> also this evening the eagles as we know didn't make it to the big game but local fans still have something to cheer for during the super bowl this weekend. >> falcons quarterback matt ryan got his start in st. fill flips grade school. jack london takes us back to where it all began. >> reporter: today the school for matt ryan first played football gave him a super salute. >> this is it. it is the biggest game. it's really amazing. >> reporter: the kids at the school showing their support for one of their own. when he went to school here ryan had believed moments like this were possible but his dad reporter: at least a dozen congressional republicans are now publicly opposing the ban. the president spoke briefly today about his supreme court nominee who he plans to formally announce tomorrow morning. >> meanwhile nbc10 was back at philadelphia international airport this morning after president trump's ban led to massive protests over the weekend. they were nervous they wouldn't be able to meet their families today. this is not a muslim ban. they feel it is and that they're being targeted. >> lawyers are working to get too syrian families back to the u.s. after their visas were cancelled. the two families are syrian christians with relatives in allentown who are u.s. citizens. they were denied entrance saturday and returned to syria. today we learn u.s. customs and border rejected the request to bring them back in the country. their lawyer says he will file a legal action first thing tomorrow morning. much more on the travel ban coming up on nbc nightly news. lester reporter: here at the supreme court we were getting ready for a smaller rally with democratic lawmakers here outside the capitol. it has turned into quite a large rally with a lot of chanting. lots of people here chanting no wall, no ban. a short while ago we spoke with a republican congressman from the lehigh valley. he has a very unique tie to this story. one of the first family sent right back to the family saturday a syrian family soon to be neighbors of allentown area congressman charlie denlt. the family spent 14 years trying to get here legally. when they were sent back because of the new immigration order. >> it was just a horrible mess. and it was very sad affair. >> reporter: we met with charlie in his office. he is a republican and national security is very important, but so is patience. >> these types of actions do require a lot of thought and deliberatation. >> reporter: this executive order was clearly rushed and he believes trump should spent p spend less time worrying today. >> in the next hour we expect several developments from washington, d.c. at 5:15, senator schumer will call on republicans in the senate to oppose president trump's executive order then at six, democratic lawmakers will host a rally at the supreme court. >> also today the council on islamic relations argues it's unconstitutional. >> late this afternoon we heard from former president obama a spokesperson released in part, quote, the president fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion. >> the white house continues to defend this order and insists it's only temporary while they review the vetting process for people coming in to the u.s. here are the main points from the executive order. for the next 90 days no immigration will be allowed from the following seven countries. iran, iraq, libya, somali, sudan and yemen. the order also suspends the entire u.s. refugee program for 120 days and that applies to all countries except for syria where the refugee program will be suspended indefinitely. the inconvenience for the ban is small compared with the need to protect every american. >> i'm sorry that some folks may have had to wait a while but the president would much rather know that he's not placing a call to someone who was killed because someone was let into this country to commit a terrorist act. >> the white house press secretary acknowledged there was not a specific security threat that led to the president's executive order. >> more local colleges are warning students and staff about how this order could effect them. lauren mayk joins us live from the university. what are you hearing there? >> reporter: i have spent the day talking to people from universities across our region and they tell me it is effecting some of their students. both in terms of where they can travel and get back in and then also in terms of anxiety just in the last hour. we spoke with the chief operating officer of the international house a few blocks from here. they host internationals students from around the globe. they are opposing this order and they're trying to offer support to students. at international house in university city there's a poster offering residents a chance to talk about it, how they feel about the president's executive order. some are directly effected coming from one of the seven countries listed. >> the executive order has created a climate of fear and uncertainty among the thousands of international students that are in america to pursue their academic dreams. >> reporter: the university warnings to effected students aren't about academics but travel. the bottom line to the message, don't leave the country right now because it's unclear when you'll be able to come back. it's as a result of the president's executive order effecting citizens of seven countries. at temple university, anxiety. >> our biggest function i think is to help the students distinguish between what's true and what's not true because if you go on to social media there's a lot out there that's not true. >> reporter: tem people's office is answering questions for both effected students and other international ones. >> are you hearing from other students? >> everybody who is an international student or who heads a nonimmigrant status i'm assuming is concerned. >> reporter: in university city international house philadelphia hosts international students and says many of it's 309 residents are worried about their future in the u.s. >> it's effected all of us here. >> reporter: one of the most important messages these universities are giving to students is to monitor information and look for any potential changes. they are doing the same thing. live in university city i'm lauren mayk nbc10 news. >> now recent poll of voters found many americans do support the idea behind this executive order in a poll taken earlier this month. nearly half of voters say they supported suspended immigration from terror prone regions even if it's means turning away refugees from those regions the same poll found more than half of voters wanted to require immigrants from muslim countries to register with the federal government. nbc10's deanna durante reached out to voters who supported president trump and asked if this changed their mind. >> reporter: they are one big family and their views differs quite a bit. >> what i think about trump, he's a nightmare. >> reporter: he didn't support trump in the election and he still doesn't. >> i think he's falling through with the promised he promised the people with immigration. things like obamacare that are hurting a lot of people in the middle class. >> he would still have his trump for president sign out if it hadn't been stoleth. >> my main reason to enhance our obamacare, stand with our second amendment and stand with police officers. >> reporter: some at this table quite frankly why they didn't support him and others will tell them why it's too earlier. >> trump ran on a certain platform and he was elected on that platform and i think within ten days he's already showing that he meant business. >> reporter: some here say they personally know those effected by the travel ban they say president trump is just making good on his campaign promises. >> i'm z-ieted about trump. i'm excited that he's shaking things up. we're -- we can be republican again. >> reporter: they're not surprised by the actions of president trump after all this is what he campaigned on and this is what he promised to do. they do say they're waiting to see what comes next. in the lehigh valley deanna durante nbc10 news. >> elsewhere critics of the order have called it everything from unconstitutional to poorly executed and that includes some of our own local lawmakers. republican pat toomey i support the administration's decision to increase vetting and temporarily suspend the entry of certain individuals. the executive order was flawed. it was too broad and poorly explained. >> republican congressman frank low beon dough referred to the orders execution as hasty and urged the trump immigration to quickly reassess. we wanted to hear from our local lawmakers face-to-face. we sent nbc10 tim furlong to washington, d.c. he'll join us in the next half hour. >> on the same night people are getting together to remember two young girls killed in a hit and run we are getting new information about the man accused of killing them. kenneth are you sure is charged with homicide, manslaughter and dui. he is out on bail. police arrested him saturday night. he hit the two girls, left and then came back. 10-year-old braxton and 19-year-old kimberly phillips were crossing roosevelt boulevard when they were hit and killed. family and friends are holding a vigil for the sisters at the scene pft crash. >> the grandmother was killed in another deadly hit and run last week. police are still looking for the driver. catherine brown was living a birthday party with her grandchildren. she was hit and killed by a white mini van at the intersection of 57th and girard. police say she died a hero. she threw her 3-year-old grandson out of the path of the speeding van and he survived. >> dpaerl county school will be closed until at least friday because a boiler there exploded. the boiler explosion led to a gas leak. the building lost heat. there were no students inside when this happened and no one was hurt. >> officials in north hampton county a police officer was justified when he shot and killed a suicidal man last year. three officers responded to the home of scott macintosh last december. the sister alerted them after she received text messages from her brother saying he wanted to die by suicide by police. >> the jury expected to begin deliberating tomorrow in the civil trial involving this deadly collapse along philadelphia's market street. relatives and survivors filed that lawsuit. seven people died and it 12 whurt when a building being demolished fell on to a salvation army store in 2013. among those being sued are the buildings owners, the demolition crew and the salvation army. >> also this even a bishop attacked on the alter. >> bring us to ever lasting life. >> what led up to this incident at a new jersey church that's next, all new at five. in the wake of the deadly attack on a canadian mosque last night philadelphia police now they are stepping up security at mosques throughout the city. nbc10 news now reports one of the two men arrested after the attack is considered a suspect. his name alexander bissanet. the other is being treated as a witness. he killed six people. quebec's premier talked about the attack today. >> quebec city today has been hit by terrorism, hard to believe in such a peaceful, beautiful city that such a thing could happen. >> five victims remain in critical condition tonight. >> we have new video that shows a man suddenly attacking a bishop in new jersey while he was right in the middle of his certify mon. we should warn you some viewers may find this video difficult to watch. >> come bring us to ever lasting life. >> security guards right there they tackled the man right after the assault. it happened saturday at the bishop was speaking at the cathedral in newark. the bishop is okay. he needed a couple of stitches, though and police still do not know why the man attacked the bishop. >> back now to one of our top stories of the day, the battle of over president trump's immigration plan. >> here are the main points from the president trump's executive order. for 90 days no immigration will be allowed from the following seven majority muslim countries. iran, iraq, libya, somali, sudan, syria and yemen. mark murray joins us live from washington, d.c. after a weekend of demonstrations across the country. >> thanks for being here. this action s has caused an eruption of lawsuits and new legislative action. what do you expect the political fallout might be? >> it's hard to tell but right now just diagnosing it 48 hours, 72 hours afterwards and i think the trump administration should be a little bit concerned. maybe the biggest reason they're have been republican deflections. dozen republican lawmakers either from the house or united states senate have said they disagree with this travel ban or they have some serious reservations about it. there are some supporters and say this was needed but whenever you see a fisure within your own party you have to be concerned. the biggest roadblock ahead for donald trump and his administration are the courts and already we saw one stay and it was -- it wasn't a broad stay but certainly more courts that get involved and more lawsuits would end up having some cause some troubles for the policy that this administration formulates. >> so what could we expect to come out of the rally that's planned in washington later on today? >> what is been amazing so far in being someone who covers politics is that the rallies in washington we're in day 11 of the trump administration and we've had two weekends worth of rallies and then morallies ahead as you ended up mentioning in this washington, d.c. metro areas including philadelphia have all been protesting centrals. it is obviously a hallmark of our politics that people protest whether you're democratic, republican, independent, someone in the middle but so far the energy that you've actually seen from forces who are very upset about some of these early moves from the trump administration coming this early are very extraordinary in my eyes. >> big move coming tomorrow. president has promised to reveal his nominee for u.s. supreme court. what do you we expect there? >> my pete williams says two finalists. one is neil gorsuch from the denver area, conservative but doesn't have any big marks that democrats would necessarily be able to go after at least at this stage right now and the other person is from thomas hardman appealat judge from the pittsburgh area and again doesn't seem to necessarily set up a humongous political clash, almost sometimes the smallest of things become very heated and very polarized early on. we're going to get that tomorrow but those are the two finalists. >> mark murray live for us in washington. thanks for the incites. >> thank you. along a snow covered boardwalk. that was just some of the snow we saw. some areas got more sne this afternoon. >> there could be more tomorrow. let's get your most accurate forecast. >> so this morning was a light snow that lingered through the morning hours. we saw that collection two to three inches around delaware and the jersey shore. this afternoon we saw a snow squall or a quick moving period of more steady to heavy snow than those snow showers passed through. it moved through philadelphia to the point where this camera we're looking at here made it where you could not see any of the buildings but now, we got the sun out, clear conditions for us as we end our day. so that's how quick this is moving through and it's breaking apart quite a bit as well. take a look at where the line was right there you see it through philadelphia now where it is in new jersey. this is quickly moving in the last hour or so. take a look where we have still some heavy to steady snow falling down through burlington county and browns mills. it's a rain/snow mix because temperatures are a tad above freezing there. we saw temperatures drop as well. the snow we did see passing through cape may county, sea isle city out through the water. look at the temperatures we're dealing with as a result. we've dropped through freezing. 32 in egg harbor township. we go over to our philadelphia neighborhoods and same deal we're looking at temperatures that are in the low 30s. parkside 31, but port richmond still at 36 degrees, fox chase right at freezing, 32 degrees. it's already a cold one out there. it's going to continue to drop overnight to another chilly evening for us. hour-by-hour forecast. that was the second round of some scattered snow showers that we were calling for and now we got to get ready for the next morning for the snow to move through. this is going to clip along to the north of us. start seeing that snow in the early morning hours, say around 7, 8:00 a.m. and this could just drop a little in the suburbs but that starts to move out as we get into your early afternoon and cloudier conditions and some scattered rain showers possible in the afternoon. we're going to see moisture but this time mostly limited to philadelphia and north instead of philly and south. that moves out as we go through the evening hours. we really do start to dry out. here are the temperatures for tomorrow, 40 degrees in fairmount, notice a little rain/snow mix. more likely we'll see some lighter snow passing through the suburbs, 37 for shanksville and 40 for elwin. reading some snow 36 degrees. that's the afternoon high temperature. of course colder as we start the morning. you can see the lows in the low 20s for parts of the loifl and berks county. in new jersey possibly some rain/snow mix as well. buena 46. we go to the jersey shore, delaware more likely we'll stay on the dryer side just isolated rain shower. 48 degrees. that high. we do have those spots snow showers still possible. better chances are farther north. 40 degrees. we stay around 40 wednesday and we see that driout that continues through your friday and saturday. look at the cool down. a jewish school in ocean county. the two men broke into the z-eb school in lakewood early saturday morning. they stole a handwritten copy of the torra worth an estimated $70,000. 15 years ago today an upper darby police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty and today he was honored in more than one way. the philadelphia police department gifted this portrait of officer denis macin a mara round of snow we saw today and it might not be the last. >> let's get an update now on your most accurate forecast meteorologist krystal klei and is anyone seeing the snow right now? >> we're seeing some spots with snow but it's pretty amazing that throughout the day it's been a roller coaster for folks. this is a look at rehoboth beach where this morning we had some snow past through southern delaware. now you see it's sunny in rehoboth beach. but now completely clear shot. take a look at had a radar's showing us currently. the blues/whites you see that's where the snow is trying to make it to the ground. we do have a few spots that are still dropping down flakes. we're dropping down chester county and pottstown. into delaware, through new castle county, newark, wilmington trying to get a few flakes as well. these are just spot areas of snow. little showers that are passing on. it's very brief in nature. this was once a line of snow a squall that was passing through philly and into parts of camden county. it is moving out of burlington county and up to atlantic koint or ocean county and woodland this area still seeing some periods of more steady snow. this is going to move off shore and we got the next round tomorrow morning. we'll track that out hour by hour coming up. >> right now at 5 opponents stepping up their fight against president trump immigration order. >> will be showing up right where you are? >> reporter: in about a half hour democratic lawmakers from the house and senate they're going to come over here to the steps of the supreme court to protest president trump executive order. there's a lot of nonpoliticians as well. some people here call it unfair, it's un-american. some republicans say it's not really going to accomplish the real intent of keeping american's safe at home. many major airports around the country as some refugee as immigration families who have gone through the legal process to come here were either detained or sent back. here's what corey booker had to say about the policy. >> it is so offensive to who we are as a nation that your entrance into our nation should be determined by how you pray. and this makes us more dangerous because our enemies, terrorists are trying to cast our efforts against them as a war on islam. >> and back live to the supreme court. it's not clear if booker will come to the protest at six. we just spoke with the republican congressman from the lehigh valley. he wants the president to put the ban on hold and take some time to work with other government agencies to try to take more patient thoughtful look how this is really going to effect people and who we're trying to keep in or out of the country. we'll bring you back here live at six where the protest with senators and trump's executive order on immigration. lou giacardo supports president trump effort. he escaped the world trade center south tower on the morning of september 11th. no one should be surprised by the travel ban. it's part of what the president campaigned on. he says it's aimed at safety and protection and not an attack on the muslim faith. >> he's just doing what he feels right right now to protect our country. right now they're in our country. isis is in our country right now. he wants to stop that and then work to decide to get rid of them. >> he went on to say he hopes lawmakers of state rex tillerson. you are looking live right now inside the capitol. he needs the support of 51 senators for confirmation. republican senator pat toomey says he will vote in favor of tillerson. democratic bob casey has not said how he will vote. tillerson is the former ceo and was a controversial pick for secretary of state. democrats have doubted tillerson's willingness to be tough with leaders and medical professionals joined the panel. governor wolf says it's his priority to make sure every pennsylvania has access to mental health. lawmakers in new jersey are also taking steps to address the epidemic. they approved legislation today requiring health insurers to cover opioid addiction treatment for up to six months. the bill would also limit initial opioid prescriptions to a five day supply. governor chris christie is devoting his final year in office to battling the drug crisis. >> philadelphia mayor jim kenny helped cut the ribbon on an urgent care in philly. the new facility will focus on providing patients with a relaxed and stressfree environment. >> new research says simple activities can help protect your brain as you head in to your golden years. seniors who regularly use a computer, make crafts, play games, socialize and read books were less likely to experience mental decline. but researchers say the results do not apply to high priced computer games immigration ban caused confusion and anger at airports around the country this weekend. tonight at jfk airport dozens of volunteers attorneys are still wait not guilty terminals to help people clear customs. >> they have already helped 40 people but they believe their work is far from over. two people have been sent back to their home countries of sudan and iran and two others remain unacted for. the rallies were quite large outside of the airport. today a smaller group of protesters gathered there. >> this fight has to keep going. we have to be this vigilant every single day for the next four years. just because i know longer have the faith that my country has my back and so we now have to have each other's backs despite the governments. >> attorneys say they have received hundreds of inquiries from people who were not able to board their international flights. now yesterday at philadelphia international airport about 5,000 people gathered to protest the travel ban. at least one person was arrested during that protest for a minor offense. >> not guilty plea today from the man accused of five people and wounding six others in the ft. lauderdale hollywood airport. >> santiago opened fire in the baggage claim area back on january 6th. if convicted he could face the death penalty. >> a harrisburg man pleaded guilty today from trying to help isis. he tweeted out a list that identified and targeted people serving in the u.s. military. the 20-year-old faces the possibility of 25 years behind bar. he's a natural born american citizen. he was arrested in harrisburg back in december 2015. investigators say he tweeted a list of more than 100 american military personnel along with instructions to kill them. >> now to your first alert weather. we saw some large wet flakes of snow falling earlier today in cape may. pretty wintry scene down the jersey shore. we saw more flurries this afternoon. >> there could be more tomorrow. let's check in with meteorologist krystal klei. >> so we had a couple waves. this morning was the first which was in delaware and along the jersey shore then we had some of those snow showers pass as we move into our afternoon. we're still tracking just a few spot areas here. one passing right through wilmington, another getting ready to start to track into philadelphia county. let's take a closer look here. this is passing right near limb rick and starting to get through delaware county and chester county. this is not quite as steady or heavy as the last squall was. it is going to be bring a few flakes in. you see the other area of snow near wilmington. this area just -- this is going to move on into salem county and cumberland county. it's small. it'll weaken. then we go to the shore. this was actually part of the squall that did pass through philly and into chester county then through camden county and left some spots where it was low visibility. passing toms river and near ship bottom this is about to move offshore here. you can still see spot areas where snow is coming down and these are these snow showers lingering earlier when we were in that 4:00 newscast. there's a big drop in the temperature as a result of the cooler air. 29 degrees voorhees, audubon the same. florence you'll also at 32 degrees and down to those upper 20s and princeton at 29. we look at temperatures in parts of berks county and the lehigh valley. 31 reading. leonardsville down to 27 degrees and it's important to notice these temperatures already at or below freezing. it will fall as snow in these areas because temperatures are low enough for that. here's your hour-by-hour forecast. most of the snow we're seeing is off. this is starting right around midnight. now we're just left with some clearing conditions. on your tuesday, 7:00 a.m. berks county lehigh valley up to the poconos and this is going to track just farther south of the suburbs. maybe a few flakes into philadelphia as well. we're not talking accumulation until you go farther to the north and west. by 1:00 p.m. this moves on out and the next little round passes through. at this point temperatures in the afternoon will be warm enough that it will be rain or rain/snow mix for us. so today it was mostly philly and south but we saw more impressive snow. we're looking philly and north to see that potential passing through and that starts to move out as we go through the overnight. let's talk the amount of snow we're looking at. this is just one model but does a pretty good job here. maybe a coating for the parts of suburbs. one inch up to three inches for mt. poconos. this is not going to be a major snow producer. another light snow passage like we saw this morning. as for your temperatures, they're going to do a little climbing here. even areas like allentown making it into the lower 40s, 50 for wildwood. they drop right down. friday 29 degrees, the high temperature in allentown only a temperature of 34 for your friday in philly. 37 in dover. we'll take a look at that ten day on ten coming up in your next half hour. >> a program designed to get people to spend money in local shops is taking off in camden county. it offers haddonfield home owners a tax credit for shopping locally. haddonfield has some of the highest taxes in camden county. now 20 businesses and nearly 800 home owners are taking part. >> also this evening the eagles as we know didn't make it to the big game but local fans still have something to cheer for during the super bowl this weekend. >> falcons quarterback matt ryan got his start in st. fill flips grade school. jack london takes us back to where it all began. >> reporter: today the school for matt ryan first played football gave him a super salute. >> this is it. it is the biggest game. it's really amazing. >> reporter: the kids at the school showing their support for one of their own. when he went to school here ryan had believed moments like this were possible but his dad wraekt. >> president trump spokesman arguiing 109 detentions is a minor inconvenience. he's going to do everything in his power to stop everything threat we face in this country and that's the key point in this. how do we get ahead of threats? >> two new federal lawsuits were filed today in washington state. >> this is un-american, it is wrong. >> reporter: and in virginia where a muslim civil rights group argued it's not only unconstitutional but puts american muslims in danger railroad. >> it is giving green light for people to go after muslims to discriminate against muslim. >> reporter: president trump. >> we're cutting regulations. >> reporter: shifting focus today with small business owners. >> donald trump is the first person who has put his money where his mouth is. >> reporter: but the focus for democrats the travel ban they'll ask republican leaders to appeal it. >> you will need more than every single democratic in the senate. we will need to have republicans join us. >> reporter: at least a dozen congressional republicans are now publicly opposing the ban. the president spoke briefly today about his supreme court nominee who he plans to formally announce tomorrow morning. >> meanwhile nbc10 was back at philadelphia international airport this morning after president trump's ban led to massive protests over the weekend. they were nervous they wouldn't be able to meet their families today. this is not a muslim ban. they feel it is and that they're being targeted. >> lawyers are working to get too syrian families back to the u.s. after their visas were cancelled. the two families are syrian christians with relatives in allentown who are u.s. citizens. they were denied entrance saturday and returned to syria. today we learn u.s. customs and border rejected the request to bring them back in the country. their lawyer says he will file a legal action first thing tomorrow morning. much more on the travel ban coming up on nbc nightly news. lester reporter: here at the supreme court we were getting ready for a smaller rally with democratic lawmakers here outside the capitol. it has turned into quite a large rally with a lot of chanting. lots of people here chanting no wall, no ban. a short while ago we spoke with a republican congressman from the lehigh valley. he has a very unique tie to this story. one of the first family sent right back to the family saturday a syrian family soon to be neighbors of allentown area congressman charlie denlt. the family spent 14 years trying to get here legally. when they were sent back because of the new immigration order. >> it was just a horrible mess. and it was very sad affair. >> reporter: we met with charlie in his office. he is a republican and national security is very important, but so is patience. >> these types of actions do require a lot of thought and deliberatation. >> reporter: this executive order was clearly rushed and he believes trump should spent p spend less time worrying about refugee families and more time focused on people who might have become citizens of european nations and can come here to the u.s. with just a passport. i asked as a republican is he worried
