Krystal, thank you. New details in the case involving wrestling legend Jimmy Superfly snuka and a Lehigh County judge dropped the homicide charge against snuka. Prosecutors say snuka killed his girlfriend at a motel in north Whitehall Township back in 1983. But attorneys say hes in hospice care and has three months to live. The judge dropped the charges after looking at his medical records. A student is now facing charges for cyber bullying. That student made a racist video about one of his classmates then put it on social media. Randy gyllenhaal spoke to parents who say this is part of a much larger problem. Reporter for the past year or so reports of racism at Saucon Valley high School Started bubbling to the surface. Families say the verbal attacks got more and more aggressive. He had been going through some stuff for some years. Some students threw a Confederate Flag at him. Others slurs. Reporter al rivers is the family friend of a 16yearold black teenager at this school who is routinely harassed. The racism reached a boiling point in october when a 14yearold white student posted a racist snapchat video calling that black teen the nword and saying hes on wellfare. Look at that [ bleep ]. Hes on welfare. Probably cant buy any chicken. Reporter that video sparked a school yard fight. At first only the black student was charged with assault, but now months later the District Attorney is also filing charges against the white student for ethnic intimidation and cyber harassment. Harassment, whether its based on race or otherwise, is a crime. Reporter the District Attorney says this sends a message especially to a group of white students at the school calling themselves the rednecks responsible for harassing black kids for months. It sends a message that this kind of conduct is not going to be tolerated and hopefully it will just break up the loose organization of boys who feel that they want to be part of such an organization. Reporter but some parents say the Saucon Valley District Needs to do more to create an inclusive community. So a zero tolerance policy will help everybody up at the school and help all of them coexist in there. And that was Randy Gyllenhaal reporting. A teenaged girl is in serious condition after a car hit her near her school bus. State police say the 14yearold was crossing shore road near ocean avenue in upper township when a 17yearold driver didnt stop in time. So far authorities have not charged that driver. A frankford man will not face murder charges for shooting an intruder, but he could face drug charges. Police were called to this home on pratt street last night. Investigators say the 26yearold man who lived here was shot in the mouth and leg by one of two intruders. It happened while the mans wife was putting their four Young Children to bed upstairs. Homicide investigators say the homeowner returned fire, killing one of those suspects. The other ran away. Ive been in this neighborhood here nine years and i havent seen anything like that. Thats actually down from about 130 last year. Leaders in philadelphia have repeatedly warned people about gun safety on new years eve. Last week they had a man tell his story. He was hit in the head by a bullet in 1998 when he was just 11. He is mostly paralyzed and has trouble speaking. There was a close call in berks county this year. A bullet went into a house and just missed a babys crib. The bullet was likely fired by someone celebrating new years eve. No one inside the home was seriously hurt. Gun violence kills more than 30,000 americans each year, yet research on it is extremely underfunded compared to the other leading causes of death. Looking at the amount of money spent and studies dedicated to the top 30 causes of death in the u. S. , gun violence was at the bottom of both lists. New video of the man turkish media is calling the gunman behind the new years massacre at a nightclub in istanbul. The video shows a man filming himself with a cell phone in taksim square. But theres still so many questions about her murder. Tonight nbc 10 is taking a closer look at this case and uncovering new details about her home life. This all started when grace packer disappeared over the summer. She was last seen in abington township, then on halloween hunter found her body more than a hundred miles away in luzerne county. Right now her adoptive mother sarah packer is a person of interest. Shes been charged with child endangerment and obstruction. We spoke with coworkers of sarah packers and found a criminal case against graces adoptive father. Reporter were live here in allentown. This is where grace and david packer once lived when they were married. And these documents here that weve uncovered show new details into the criminal case against david packer. We also learned that back in 2011, before this case began, sarah packer lost her job with northampton county. Arrested on november 12th, 2016, sarah packer is now free on bail and living in hor sham, Montgomery County. She was once a respected social worker from northampton county. She began working for northampton in 2003 as a case worker. By 2011 she was a supervisor in the adoptions department. Thats where her career with the county ended. In january 2011, according to a county official, packer was placed on unpaid suspension until may when she received her last paycheck. Sources say a child in the care of packer and her thenhusband david made a claim of abuse. A month later david packer, sarahs thenhusband was charge with indecent assault. Court documents do not list the victims name but say it was the 9yearold adopted child of packer. In november 2011 david was charged with another crime. This time they list another unnamed foster daughter of packer as the victim. She was 18 when she came forward. Court papers say she told police shed been sexually abused by packer from the time she was 15 years old. The packers do not live together now. Sarah is now staying at this house with a new boyfriend. After grace was reported missing, police say she moved from abington to another county and continued to cash Social Security checks meant for grace even after graces body was found. Sources tell nbc 10 when they found the news when they searched the home they found locks on the outside of her bedroom door. And we can tell you the bucks county authorities have taken over the investigation. They are working with several other counties. The District Attorney did not comment for this case. However we can tell you that the office is accepting tips on the case, actively asking for them, as we reported to you before christmas. You can make those tips on an anonymous basis. Today three Conestoga High School Football Players pleaded guilty to harassment charges. Last march the three teens and the victim were told to clean the football locker room. Well talk about that coming up. A man accused of killing a state trooper in Huntington County friday night sent a text message admitting to the crime. In an arrest warrant made public today investigators say Jason Robison sent a text to the mother of his son admitting he killed trooper landon weaver. The 32yearold allegedly told the trooper he wasnt going back to jail. Police shot and killed him after an 18hour manhunt. Trooper weaver was responding to a call for a man who violated a protection of abuse order. Weaver graduated from the acad last year and got married in june. The landmark diner in maple shade closed after a fire in 2013. After the fire there was a fundraiser to restore the restaurant but that never happened. The parking lot would belong to the acura dealership next door. After six years of a fourday work week, staff at Administrative Offices in upper merion township are going back to a fiveday work week. Thankfully theyre okay but it could have been a lot worse. Reporter call it toddler superhuman strength or brotherly love, but 2yearold bodie is being hailed a hero for saving his twin brother brock trapped under a dresser. He could have been stuck under there for who knows how long . Reporter the mom ceili says she and her husband were sleeping and heard nothing from the other room but a nanny cam they use to monitor their boys captured everything. I hadnt heard them cry or make a peep. I looked on the camera to see if they were still sleeping. And i had just seen the dresser toppled over. And i, of course, started panicking. Reporter the two were climbing on the dresser in their bedroom opening drawers with hopes to climb higher. Their weight tipped the dresser over landing mostly on brock. He and several other senators are getting set to reintroduce legislation to direct the Consumer Products Safety Commission to adopt a stronger stability standard for furniture.
