Even if prosecutors get his conviction reinstated, he may not spend much more time in prison. Deanna durante explains. Reporter this is the prison where monsignor william lynn has been housed. His ride showed up here just after 2 30 this afternoon. A white suv pulled up to building number 14. The person that was driving that car brought him a change of clothes and less than 20 minutes later, lynn left the prison here heading back to the philadelphia area. This is not the first time william lynn has been released from prison. His case has gone to the higher court, his original conviction in 2012. Its been historic for the church. Lynn was not accused of himself harming a child, but was accused of moving a priest around and not protecting the children in the church. His attorney blamed the judge for allowing evidence in the trial that did not pertain to lynn. She permitted the introduction of abuse by 21 other priests over the period of time from the 40s, 50s, 60s that he had nothing to do with. Reporter they will allow the monsignor a new trial, which is scheduled to begin in 2017. He had a 36month sentence. Hes done 33 months. The parole board granted him parole as of october. So the worst that could happen is he could be convicted and sentenced to two months. Reporter bergstrom said he will have the trial, quote, he should have had in the first place, and that questionable evidence will not be allowed into the case this time. Police in atlanta county are looking for the driver who hit and killed a one mother in a crosswalk and left her there to dry. Aubrey servis leaves behind a young son and daughter. The justices said its because a judge can sentence a person to death, regardless of what the jury recommends, and does not require jurors to be unanimous. The u. S.
