Well keep an eye on this and let you know if anything more develops. Now, back to the controversy swirling over melania trumps speech. Today it took a new twist. You work hard for what you want in life. Reporter for days the Trump Campaign said the similarities between melanias speech and a speech in 2008 by Michelle Obama were a coincidence. A new explains from a Trump Organization staff writer, releasing a statement taking the blame and revealing what happened. She said, quote, over the phone, mrs. Trump read me some passages from mrs. Obamas speech as examples. I wrote them down and included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech. This was my mistake, and i feel terrible for the chaos i have caused melania and the trumps as well as mrs. Obama. No harm was meant, end quote. Donald trump said on social media that the speech controversy was a positive for his campaign. He tweeted, quote, good news is melanias speech got more publicity than any in the history of politics, especially if you believe all press is good press, end quote. Welcome to cleveland. And she tells me she first got involved with the Trump Campaign when someone asked her what she thought about donald trump. Then she started becoming a surrogate for the campaign. Well, today i asked her about the controversy surrounding melania trumps speech. What does that say, though, about the sort of checks and balances and the organization of the campaign at this point . I dont see melanias three or five or 15 words shared with Michelle Obama to be any testament to the campaign at all. It happens frequently to people who say read said copy. This isnt a testament to the campaign. The campaign has amazing advisers. Her speech was not a reflection anything about her sharing a lot of values with a great first lady currently. Local, state, and local Law Enforcement are coordinating efforts to keep things safe. Today we found fencing started to go up around the Wells Fargo Center to create a secured perimeter. Drivers parking in the median on South Broad Street are being warned they will have to find somewhere else to go starting sunday. Were prepared. And theres a lot that goes into these things, a lot of planning. But there are a lot of unknowns a lot of times as well. Residents in the district will be especially impacted with road closures. At 6 00, a meeting is scheduled at the American Swedish Museum to answer any questions and concerns. We have a live look at the Wells Fargo Center. The host, of course, to that convention. Mitch, what are you seeing . Reporter guys, were already starting to see an increase of philly police presence. This is outside of the security perimeter. The Philadelphia Police department will primarily be responsible for outside of that fencing that you mentioned. Secret service is going to be putting up 3 1 2 miles, 19,000 feet of anticlimb fencing surrounding the Wells Fargo Center. You can see a little bundle of it right there. Theyre going to hire theyve hired an outside contractor in order to install all of that fencing. The philly police department, secret service, the fbi, theyre all working in conjunction with other Law Enforcement agencies throughout our region, as you said. A lot of this will start at noon saturday. That is when street closures for some of the final fencing and the barriers goes into effect. No Center Median parking on South Broad Street. The surrounding wells fargo area, again, the jurisdiction of the Philadelphia Police department. Theyll be primarily responsible for any protests outside of that area while the secret service will take the lead for security. The latest from sky force 10. Mitch, thank you. They say the suspect was captured on the Surveillance Video at a Convenience Store in frankfurt on july 12th. Police say the man later choked a woman and sexually assaulted her on jasper street. They believe hes also responsible for the beating and stabbing death of a woman in kensington over the weekend. Meanwhile, in delaware, theres now a 40,000 reward to help solve a murder mystery involving a college student. 19yearold Malcolm Evans was driving to work earlier this month when he was hit by a bullet and crashed his car. He died at a hospital. Today evans family joined police in asking the public for help catching his killer. They believe the Delaware State University student was an innocent victim. I just cant tell you the hole that we all have in our hearts. I miss him dearly. And i just cant believe that one of my beautiful sons will not be with us anymore. Investigators say a witness saw several men in the area near the scene, but they took off before police arrived. Bill cosby is now completely blind and homebound inside his pennsylvania property. Thats according to a report in the New York Post that says cosby suffers from degenerative eye disease. Cosby is awaiting trial in the Sexual Assault case against him. The security fence weve heard so much about, the secret service putting up about 19,000 feet of fencing, 3 1 2 miles, antifencing surrounding the Wells Fargo Center at the property. This is one of the streets that the fence will separate Wells Fargo Center from lincoln financial field. The Police Departments responsibility will be outside of the perimeter, while the secret service, the fbi, state police will all support them in that capacity, as well as Police Agencies from the surrounding communities. But the secret service took primary responsibility to secure the event as well as the dignitaries coming into the philadelphia area and Wells Fargo Center noon on saturday. That is a time to remember. That is when street closures for fencing and outer barriers will start to take effect, as well as no Center Median parking on South Broad Street. This is the secret service and National Security event and Police Agencies from all over the country, as well as from right here in the philadelphia area, all working together on it. Philly also hired private security to help secure the outer perimeter, and the federal government is sending the city about 40 million to help cover some of those extra costs. He was also an actor appearing in more than 80 tv shows and films including a league of their own a film directed by his sister, penny marshall. People are leaving tributes at the hollywood walk of fame. Fans left roses as they walked by, and in a statement his publicist said marshall died from complications from pneumonia after having a stroke. I spoke with chuck todd today, and he said the campaigns handling of this has been a disaster, in his words, because of the mixed messages weve been hearing about what actually happened with the crafting of that speech. Do you agree . Look, its very easy to monday morning quarterback these types of situations after the fact. But the bottom line is, the Trump Campaign needed to acknowledge a mistake has occurred. Theyve done that. It took them a couple of days. It did. And they needed to do it earlier. But lets face it, come november, were not going to be thinking about what me lan yeah said on the stage or why she said what she said. It will be the issues between donald trump and Hillary Clinton that are going to carry the day and what the American People will really care about. Ted cruz will be speaking tonight. Bigtime rivals. He called him lying ted on the campaign trail. Does cruz get beyond that . I would hope ted cruz would come out tonight and be very strong against Hillary Clinton. And uniting this party against Hillary Clinton. Maybe stopping short of actually endorsing trump himself . He may well do that. I think i dont think its going to matter one way or the other whether he stops short or not. I think for party unity sake, and i would hope he would get the support for trump had cruz been the nominee, i think he should endorse. Pence has his big night in the spotlight. The polls showing many republicans dont really know a lot about him. How important is this speech for him tonight . Not just here in this room, but on a national scale. Tremendously important. Hes such a thoughtful, smart, articulate man. Hes a very good governor. Spent a number of years in congress. And hes just a very likable guy. I think the United States the country needs to see that. And he needs to project that this evening. So we know well be hearing from him, and cruz, marco rubio, via video. And thats all going to play out tonight.
