Yeah, you can find jin snow piles like this one everywhere you go in the city. Its tricky getting down. We were out and about today. Schools were canceled throughout much of the valley. That meant we saw more people, lots of cars getting stuck. Neighborhoods that had not seen a plow yet as the flurries continue to fall throughout the Lehigh Valley. With temperatures well below freezing, the snow wont melt any time soon. So allentown dispatched the heavy machinery. Youre dealing with about 110 dump trucks. Reporter truckloads of snow transferred to a large parking lot across town, despite this round the clock clean up, some streets are still covered. Theres so much snow on the roads, its terrible. Look for different options. With narrow city streets and a tighter squeeze because of the snow, some found the bicycle to be a better mode of transportation than a car. This is where we were yesterday. We were 7 degrees warmer than we are now in philly. 4 degrees warmer in allentown. Coatesville, 7 degrees warmer. Much cooler today and below freezing all day today, reaching the mid 20s across the area. Right now the temperature is 14 in mount pocono, 27 in philly. Mt. Holly at 26. Vineland, 28. Atlantic city, 27. Coatesville at 25. Wilmington at 28. Dover at 30. Look at windchill, this is probably the worst part of it, what it feels like. Not what the actual air temperature is. Feels like, when you wake up tomorrow morning, it will feel like 3 in allentown. Well see right around 10 in philly. Pottstown, 5. It will be, as we head out towards the coast, it will drop down around 10 degrees. We get out there along the shore and its about 12 degrees. Im hearing utility crews coming from across the country to help us out . Theyre doing their best. At the height of the storm, we had about 76,000 new castle residents in the dark. Its down to about 9,000 people, that doesnt help if youre one of the people in the dark. Many of those people live in shipley woods. They lost power yesterday morning after an amazing number of trees came down, including this one here in the neighborhood. Dell mar ha delmarva has careerews out herel trying to get service up. We met one family lucky enough to have a wood stove for heat but they lost a days work and a whole bunch of food in the fridge. We heard pop. We knew the transformer had blown, just everything was out. Weeks worth of groceries, 150 at bjs gone. Milk, eggs, everything gone. Its been a tough, tough 24 hours, 28 hours for a lot of people in northern delaware. A lot to of people still without power. About 9,000. Heres the good news, the spokesperson for Delmarva Power texted me, a lot of people were estimated to be on tomorrow by noontime. He now says everybody in the county should be back having power by midnight. Thats a good thing. A lot of these people will believe it when they see it tim furlong, nbc 10 news. Thats a long haul without power. The remnants of the storm caused problems on the delaware Memorial Bridge today. Skyforce 10 was over the bridge. If you can see those white dots on the road, thats ice. It was falling from the top of the bridge. Because of that, the outer lanes of the delaware memorial had to be closed. Definitely for good reason. Our winter storm cleanup coverage continues with the big problem down the shore, beach erosion. Ted greenberg will have a live report in less than ten minutes. To this now, two russian spies are charged with a massive hack of a half billion yahoo email accounts. The justties department announced the charges today. Two hackers facing charges. Its one of the largest data breaches in history. The defends targeted yahoo accounts of russian and u. S. Government officials including cybersecurity, diplomatic and military personnel. All four are accused of accessing personal accounts of journalists and employees of financial services. President trump met with automakers in michigan today where he announced plans to roll back fuel economy requirements. President trump has refused to release his taxes saying he is under routine irs audit. Pennsylvania senator upon casey is promising to fight against the push to replace obamacare. Casey spoke about the negative effects of the gop plan. This is an attempt by republicans, i believe, to mislead people into believing that theyre really improving our health care system, making it better for seniors and for kids and people with disabilities, particularly vulnerable americans. Senator casey has been critical of the republican healthcare bill on social media with a series of tweets. Among them is one that says because of trumpcare, working families of four in Philadelphia County will lose 7,000 in credits and pay 41 more. Republican leaders released the bill that would replace obamacare last week. A congressional budget report projects the plan would reduce the deficit by 3 337 million ovr a decade, but the same report says the plan would increase the ranks of the unsuinsured by 14 Million People next year alone. People who lived nearby were woken up by the commotion. Called 911, they said somebody was on the way. Within seconds we saw fire trucks. But it was one of the biggest flames ive ever seen. It was very scary. Investigators are trying to figure out how that fire started. Jury selection has resumed in Chester County today for the murder trial of eric frein. The courthouse in west chester was closed yesterday because of the storm. Frein is accused of shoot two state troopers during an ambush in the poconos. One trooper was killed. Four more jurors were seated today for a total of five. The jury being picked in Chester County in the hopes of finding members who did not see the Media Coverage of the case in the poconos. Investigators are looking at whether icy roads caused this crash that killed a man and closed route 1 for several hours in chadds ford today. Police say that the suv lost control, slamming into a tow truck. Skies f skies foyforce 10 over the acci. The Chadds Ford School district closed for the day because of the wreck. We have a lot of erosion, quite a bit along the coast. These dunes were already in rough shape from previous storms. This one did further damage. But officials along the jersey shore are telling me it could have been much worse. Reporter lee sylvesters lunch break always includes a look at the beach in north wildwo wildwood, a day after the noreaster the damage was clear. They put extra sand here, and then it washes away. Reporter powerful waves carved giant cliffs into those protected dunes. They were also damaged in januarys coastal storm then repaired, though Officials Say the erosion this time wasnt nearly as bad. We didnt have any situations where the water went through the dune like we have previously. Reporter dunes and this beach walkway in the hol gate section of Long Beach Township took another beating. The coastline now in need of emergency repairs for a second time this winter. The storm also left its mark on some of stone harbors beaches, newly widened. The u. S. Army corps of engineers set to assess the damage and possibly have contractors make repairs. North wilded with also making plans to move sand yet again. We will be down there with equipment this week even just trying to smooth out some of the cliffs. Glenn hurricane schwartz is here with us now. Snow falling and the bitter cold. The bitter cold and the bitter winds added to some snow. Thats not fog obliterating the philadelphia skyline, thats snow. And it is continuing across a good bit of the area. Its 27 degrees in philadelphia now with a 20mileperhour wind. And those snow showers, some more snow showers in new jersey, Lehigh Valley, and everybody is in the 20s and everybody has got wind. 27 for philadelphia and reading. 24 in pottstown. In the middle of the afternoon. And it feels like 10 in coatesville, 13 in allentown, 3 below zero at mount pocono. Well, its going to be another cold night because were starting from cold. Look at this. 24 degrees at wernersville. Fleet wood at 24. Kutztown, 26. South mountain, 23. Allentown, 24. Easton 23 degrees. So, its already cold, you add the wind to that, feels colder. And its still daylight. So, tonight its going to get even colder. Look at wind gusts, 37 Miles Per Hour in dover. 30 in philadelphia. Weve seen wind gusts ov s over Miles Per Hour during the day today. That will diminish tonight. A lot of snow on the radar coming down from the north, as you can see. Mostly on the right side, but it covers a pretty large area from philadelphia all the way down to the shore. Everywhere in between. This is a pretty significant area. And you see a little bit of a dusting or maybe a half inch in some spots. Thats just enough to coat some roads while so cold. Winslow and mullica getting some of the heavier snow showers now. Washington township and the visibility will tell us how heavy the snow is. Pottstown and coatesville, all of a sudden have lower visibilities. Mt. Pocono, three quarters of a mile. Philadelphias visibility is up. It just keeps going up and down, up and down. That makes them showers and not a steady snow. Mt. Holly getting some fairly low visibility. Over the next few hours, watch what happens here to those snow showers. They kind of fall apart as the sun goes down and so we do not expect the repeat performance tomorrow. We dont expect a repeat performance of these super low feelslike temperatures beyond tonight. Bitter, bitter cold again. Anything that melted will refreeze. By tomorrow afternoon, it may feel like its in the 20s across a good bit of the area. Thats pretty cold for this time of year, but a lot less cold than today. Thats good news. Roads are still looking clear. This is not a heavy snow, but more than 150 students from Perkiomen High School had the best snow dare evey ever. They got stuck at disney world. Their flight was canceled because of the weather. Today they had extra time to visit some parks and do some shopping. I spoke to one student who said nobody was complaining about the delay.
