deferring all comments to lind's attorney. meanwhile, there's mixed reactions from catholics over lind's case. >> it doesn't impact your faith? >> no. not at all. my faith is still strong. >> it does change the feelings about the church. you feel that you can't trust them the way you used to be able to trust them. >> reporter: in center city, rosemary connors, nbc 10 news. >> while today's ruling came down in philadelphia, william lind was being held at waymark prison in northeast pennsylvania, about 20 miles outside scranton. deanna durante was there as lind walked out of prison. >> she joins us now there live. >> reporter: it was less than an hour ago, monsignor william lind was able to leave the building here. the building behind me, number 14, at the prison here. a white suv arrived here around 2:30 this afternoon. someone went inside. a man, we're told, brought monsignor lind a change of clothes, and a few minutes later he walked right out of those doors into that car, heading towards the philadelphia area. now, this is not the first time monsignor lind has walked out o prison. his case has been a long legal battle. his conviction in 2012 was overturned by a high court. it was taken to the supreme court allowing lind to walk out of jail today. just this morning, he was able to make bail, post baseball and then his relatives drove from the philadelphia area in order to pick him up. his attorney said even though the district attorney is planning to retry his client, he said the majority of his sentence has already been served. >> if he were to be retried and convicted, he had a 36-month sentence. he's done 33 months. the parole board granted him parole as of october. so the worst that could happen on a retrial, i mean, you know, the worst that could happen is he could be convicted and sentenced to two months. >> reporter: now, again, this was a historic case in the catholic church abuse scandal. lind, a church official, was not accused of physically harming a child but rather knowing of an allegedly abusive priest and not keeping him away from the children. his attorney argued that lind did not get a fair trial and he was convicted on a law that did not apply to him. when he is scheduled to be retried in 2017, his lawyer tells us that that evidence that was applied in his first trial will not make it in to this case again. reporting live in wayne county, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. our coverage of the story continues on nbc 10 news at five. rosemary connors is speaking to seth williams at this hour. that story ahead at the comfort is going to last in just a few minutes. >> all right, glenn. to decision 2016 coverage now. a challenge from president obama today. he's calling on leading republicans to withdraw their endorsement to donald trump during a news conference today. the president said the gop nominee is unfit to be president, and he added, he keeps proving it. >> there has to be a point in which you say, this is not somebody i can support for president of the united states. >> and while the president was calling out trump, the republican nominee was rallying at a high school in virginia. trump is known for kicking out protesters from his events. but today he gave the boot to a crying baby. at first he told the crowd how much he loves babies, but the continuous crying seemed to get the best of him. >> so nice. actually, i was only kidding. you can get the baby out of here. that's all right. don't worry. i think she would have believed me that i love to have a baby crying while i'm speaking. that's okay. people don't understand. >> trump's trailing democratic presidential nominee hillary clinton. now, according to the latest survey monkey poll, clinton's post-convention bounce has given her an eight-point lead after the dnc wrapped in philadelphia. the same poll last week did not show a jump for trump after the rnc. pennsylvania will be a key player. today we sent nbc 10's mitch opening up offices and hiring staff. what we call the trump camp, relying on state and national republican staffers. marlene taylor is just one of the hundreds of clinton volunteers across the commonwealth. 300 staffers are already working in the state and 13 campaign offices. this is what we saw in north philly at a clinton campaign office. it's in stark contrast to the trump campaign where today in conshohocken, the primary office was closed. the state republican party said trump is relying on its staffers to help organize his campaign. the campaign's pennsylvania director said it's not about the number of offices or staff, it's about effort, momentum, and enthusiasm. >> we got on a bus and started traveling -- >> reporter: financially, the gap has also widened. the clinton campaign has already scheduled $120 million worth of campaign ads. trump's lone ad buy comes from a super pac that has reserved just $1 million of tv time. >> invigorating campaign. >> reporter: by tomorrow volunteers could work from any of the state's 33 offices, three open tomorrow. trump claims to have five open offices in pennsylvania. but with few staff hired, his best outreach appears to be what we see on stage. >> we're doing well in the polls. we're leading in pennsylvania. which is very nice. >> and just today, we learned that the green, the libertarian and constitution parties all have submitted their nominating papers to get their presidential candidates on the ballot this fall in pennsylvania. i'm mitch blocker, nbc 10 news. police in atlanta county are looking for a driver
