Flashing lights as Police Escort the body of an offduty officer killed in a crash with a suspected drunk driver. Good evening. Police now have a suspect in custody. They say the driver got out of the car to look at the officer lying on the ground with his motorcycle. Police say the driver got back behind the wheel and drove off. Tonight, we have Live Team Coverage as the Philadelphia Police department grieves for its second officer in a week. We begin with doug shimell, live at the accident investigation. Reporter it was difficult for police to come out and again announce the loss of another colleague. Here to report the death of an offduty Police Officer. Lamar poole. Reporter they saluted the 19year police veteran has the procession arrived at the medical examiners office. Officers determined that the 42yearold off duty Philadelphia Police officer, lamar poole, died when a car turned in front of his motorcycle. We had a couple witnesses, one being a tow truck driver who followed the car, called the car in to police. Reporter the silver Toyota Corolla had been stopped a half mile away. According to witnesses, after the crash, gets out for one minute, looks to see what happened, and gets back in his car and goes north. Reporter denise, police say this officer was a 19year veteran of the force, just 42 years old. He worked here in the citys 12th Police District. The Police Escort left the hospital transporting the body of officer lamar poole, led by two motorcycles. His procession made its way to the medical examiners office, police smmarisspolice saluting n blue. The news spread. Neighbors here say its difficult to comprehend this sudden loss to another hit and run. You know, definitely sad. Reporter he says 12th district officers means so much to this community, often Holding Events for local kids in the neighborhood. All the community, they know that these cops do a great job. Yeah, they found her reporter it wasnt until sunday afternoon that the 5yearold and the woman known as kendra were spotted walking near 24th and lehigh streets. She appears to be in good conditions.
