problems right now on the northeast corridor between philadelphia and washington, d.c. so, that's downed wires that's causing the service disruption and amtrak says they don't know when that service will resume. on the boulevard northbound we have a disabled vehicle. it is off to hthe shoulder not causing any delays. right now on the 42 freeway traffic is moving along pretty well. 55 miles per hour on the northbound side and looks like a bit of a slow down here sheddhe southbound. vai? right now trump plaza is locking its doors for the final time. it is the latest in the string of casino closures in atlantic city. the atlantic club was the first to close in january, show boat shut its doors august 31st. two days later, revel casino closed and jesse gary joins us live now from outside the casino. jesse, just another shoe that's dropping. >> that's right, vai. they just posted these signs on the door which say closed. i'll move out of the way. as they were putting the signs up, members of different media moved in front to get shots of the sign. they have now been posted. the revolving door's still unlocked but look like they're starting to lock those up, as well. some of the employees and customers start to come out for the last time. take a look at our video. this was shot inside the casino a little while ago. you can see how empty it is. very few people here during the early morning hours to play the slot machines for the last time. i spoke to a couple guys who made their way in from camden this morning who, when i asked if the casino is not here, i mean, do you still come all the way down to atlantic city just for a beach? would you come if it wasn't a casino? >> nah. it all depends on what kind of money because we have everything around our way now. we don't have casinos in camden. we could go to philly, but i don't trust them. i would rather stick here. this is where i was raised and gambling. >> yeah, so, it looks like the problem with atlantic city is they need another draw beyond just casinos and perhaps in addition to casinos. so, a lot of talk of maybe making and bringing in more entertainment as a way to try to hold people here, once the casinos, at least four of them this year have closed. this may not be the end of it. there's talk that the trump taj mahal may be next on the hit list. we'll talk about that more coming up at 6:30. jesse gary, nbc 10 news. meanwhile, a bankruptcy court judge has approved an auction for the revel casino hotel scheduled for september 24th. the option was approved from a cash bid from a florida developer was made public last week. an attorney says parts of the building could reopen weeks after the sale and a casino could operate in the building at some point. it is 6:04. new from overnight, philadelphia police are trying to figure out the circumstances that led to a deadly shooting in the city's home circle section. a 42-year-old man told police that he shot a guy trying to break into his apartment. the 32-year-old man died and now police say that man who was killed may have been dating the man's 20-year-old daughter. they are questioning both the father and daughter right now. a young girl is recovering this morning after she was found unconscious in pennypack park. police are trying to determine how the 15-year-old girl ended up in the woods of the park a few feet from the sidewalk. she was in her school uniform suffering from a bump on her head and bruises on the back of her leg. a man walking north on roosevelt boulevard found the girl unresponsive, but breathing. >> somebody walking by could see her. somebody driving by north on the boulevard would not be able to see this female. so, we're very fortunate that somebody did walk by and did see this female unconscious and did notify police. >> the 15-year-old girl was taken to st. christopher's hospital where she is listed in stable condition. philadelphia police say a fight over a game of pool led to a deadly shooting at a bar. this happened around 10:00 last night. the family tavern, that's at the corner of east luzerne and bennington streets. a man inside the bar was killed and a gunman is still on the loose. police hope security cameras captured the shooting and help lead them to an arrest. now a $40,000 reward for information on the person who killed a pregnant woman and her baby in philadelphia on sunday. 25-year-old was sitting outside her home in frankfurt when she was hit by a stray bullet. she was eight months pregnant. the baby girl was delivered but died a few hours later. investigators tell us they're looking for a man in black clothing seen shooting at a white ford sedan. state police have developed a profile on a gunman who ambushed two pennsylvania police officers. he visits a local shooting range to keep his skills sharp. he likely made several trips to the state police barracks picking just the right hiding spot from which he could launch an ambush and make his escape. dixon was killed and another officer hurt. dixon spent a year in winfield before being transferred. >> he was a natural leader and a good man to have here at the station. the guys that worked for him loved him. >> ten of his colleagues from the belmont barracks will be pallbearers at his funeral on thursday. a former boarding schoolteacher is facing charges after accused of having a sexual relationship with one of his students. nolan johnson was a theater teacher. accused of having sex with a 6-year-old girl several times both on and off campus this year. the respiratory virus that has sickened hundreds of kids have hit the northeast. new york has confirmed enterovirus. as far south as alabama and as far west as colorado. several hundred suspected cases have not been confirmed by the centers for disease control. and as we told you last week, some of those cases are in "c.b delaware. 12 children were hospitalized and symptoms of enterovirus. we could know by friday if the virus is behind their particular illnesses. runny nose, congestion and fever. happening today, a new coalition will be introduced that will push for funding to repair new jersey's worn out roads and bridges. the group says it hopes to create long-term solution to the garden state outdated infrastructure and to keep the state transportation trust fund in tact. now to decision 2014, the pennsylvania immigration and citizenship coalition wants immigrants in philadelphia to register to vote. the group will have a voter registration sign up at love park today at the constitutional center and then love park again on thursday. the coalition says getting immigrant communities to register and turn out to vote is a key part of its mission. this is part of the multi-cultural passport seeing some ponding on the roadways and closer look where we're seeing our delays. flags are blowing on top of the aramark building. light rain through our area as we head into the next hour or so. we are checking out your radar. showers moving in from the west and tracking to the east at 30 miles per hour and pushing into norristown, philadelphia, up to allentown and the poconos. we'll start with the poconos because you can see when we see the returns here in the yellow and red, that's more of a moderate rainfall and when it's green, it's light rainfall. a mix of light and moderate rain just to the north of allentown and since everything is tracking to the east, richboro will probably see moderate rainfall in the next 10, 15 minutes or so. we're seeing a good downtop ppo coming down and that is, again, tracking to the east and glassboro up next. if we take a closer look at our tracking, by 6:15 the city of glocester will see light rainfall. 6:25 pine hill. so, a wet start to your morning and heading into your afternoon. we will see clearing a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures stay below average for us. our future weather shows us by 8:00 a.m., light rainfall to trenton and south jersey and right along the shore by 9:00, 10:00. and by your lunchtime hour, most of the rain should be gone, even the clouds will start to clear as we head into your early evening. so, right now from philadelphia, the rain is finally starting to come down right in the city eand at the airport. 61 degrees and light rainfall and humidity is up and wind speeds aren't too bad at 3 miles per hour. our average for this time of year, 78 degrees and today's high 75 and then we drop down even more as we head into wednesday. our temperatures range between 73 and 76. early showers expected our camera lens. watch out for wet roads and limited visibility in parts of oour area, as well. the ben franklin bridge traffic is moving along a little slower heading into philadelphia, you can see increased volume out there. you can also see how wet the bridge is. take it easy with your speeds and the 42 freeway and northbound side, as usual, volume increasing there, as well. take mass transit and amtrak, a big problem here in the northeast corridor. service is suspended between philadelphia and washington, d.c., due to downed wires out there. and amtrak said they don't know when that her parents. he was arrested earlier this month after an amber alert because he had taken his 4-year-old son from the family's home after the killing. santoa also leaved in lehigh valley at one time. the wilmington police department is cikicking off its citizen police academy today. an eight-week course to teach people about their police department. the pressures that come with law enforcement and wilmington police chief says one of the biggest goals is to build a relationship with the people of the city. >> we have the technology and the investigators who are able to go out here and, again, uncover a lot of crime ask collect evidence. when it comes to getting actual information and confirming things, we need that to come from the community and in order for the community to give us that information, we have to have that level of trust built back. >> the wilmington police academy, citizens academy is open to the public if you'd like to attend. rutgers university is apologizing for controversial t-shirts, some of its fans wore to the school's football game against penn state this past weekend. take a look at some of the shirts worn by fans tailgating before the game and posted on facebook. you can see a fan that laughs with the shirt, it's a reference to jerry sandusky child sex abuse scandal that rocked penn state campus two years ago. julie herman said, i would like to apologize equally to the penn state university fans, as well as rutgers fans that were subjected to this classless display. this does not represent the eethoes of our university, athletic department or fan base. a heads up for people who drive through bucks county. penndott crews working on a resurfacing project that will cause lane restrictions from 9:00 until 3:00 this week. there will be more accident right now in plymouth township west german and it is out there and not causing any major problems. for mass translt travelers, amtrak and service is disrupted right now. it's suspended indefinitely from philadelphia to washington, d.c. when we checked with amtrak they said they had engineers working on it because of the downed wires. they are trying to move the wires out of the way and they don't know when the service will resume. septa moving along quite nicely but schuylkill expressway and blue route, traffic is moving along nicely. good morning, we'll have to show you this picture, again, because it really paints the picture that rain is coming down in philadelphia and it's starting to move out, though. so, if we take a closer look at the radar, you can see it's very spotty. depends on where you are, but if you're right near 676 or i-95 here, that's where we're still seeing rainfall coming down and more of a moderate downpour. as we push into the rest of your morning, still see showers in our area and as we head into the afternoon, those will clear up. most of the rainfall has now pushed out of north town and starting to push into the east of philadelphia pushing into northern parts of burlington, just over trenton right now. some of our heaviest rain coming down in richboro and as we head into the rest of this morning, we continue to see the showers tracking to the east. in our later morning hours combined to south jersey and also right along the shore. glocester dealing with rainfall and, again, everything is racing to the east. moving quickly at 30 miles per hour. mt. laurel also seeing light to moderate rainfall. closer to 6:32, we could see some of the showers and also as we head into your 8:00 hour, we're still dealing with showers near the south jersey area, closer to the shore. after that, after 11:00, that's when we'll start to see more clearing and also with our clouds. so, heading into the rest of today, we will see temperatures warming into the mid-70s. 61 at the philadelphia airport with rain coming down and speeds out of the south, southeast at 5 miles per hour. average 78 and today's high 75. if you take a look at lawmakers work today to get the bill to a vote. address the cigarette tax this morning ahead of a vote tomorrow. if it's passed, it will generate about $80 million a year for the school district. officials say they need revenue from the $2 per pack tax to start flowing into the district. if not, cuts will have to take effect and schools will close as early as christmas. it is 6:25 out there cloudy skies and light rainfall over the center city skyline. if we take a closer look at where the rain is right now on our radar, you can see it's mainly over trenton and just over gloucester. spotty if you're closer to center city and these showers are tracking to the east at about 30 miles per hour. wind blowing dry right now, but as we head into the next 10, 20 minutes light rain moving in and winds same thing for woodland and also waterford. our current temperatures in philadelphia at the airport, 61 degrees and you can see it's actively raining at the airport. wind speeds out of the south at 3 miles per hour. rest of your afternoon temperatures expected to push into the mid-70s which is below average. fall-like conditions coming up in my seven-day forecast. for now let's check in with christine for a closer look at traffic. >> good morning, as we take a live look outside. disabled vehicle on 202 on the southbound side and earlier we did see some rain showers here and that rain has already moved east and out of chester county. that is good news for chester there. on the northeast extension, you can see all of this green and that's what we like to see moving along pretty ewell. but be aware on the southbound lane the right lane is blocked due to a disabled truck there. look at the haze and limited visibility and through this is the burlington bristol bridge and did open and just closing right now so traffic should be able to resume shortly. plymouth township and west germantown pike, an accident to be aware of. this has been a big problem throughout the trying to figure out the circumstances that led to a deadly shooting in the city's home circle neighborhood. nbc 10 katy sack zachary is live. bring us up to date. >> in the last few moments i have talked to homicide detective. they are interviewing the man and his 20-year-old daughter that live right here. police are looking into several different possibilities one is that the intruder may have been a stranger or that he may have been dating the man's daughter. police were called to the apartment around 11:30 last night for a shooting, preliminarily officers say it appears the 32-year-old man broke into a back window and was shot by the man who lived inside this apartment, a 41-year-old man. he lived here with his 21-year-old daughter. also then police a short time later said they're looking into the possibility that the intruder was dating the man's 20-year-old daughter and she may have let him inside the apartment. either way, he was shot by the man who lived here and here's what else police are saying about what happened. >> possibly may have been a struggle. however, we know that the 41-year-old male fired one shot striking the 32-year-old victim in the head one time. >> police say they don't know the circumstances behind that struggle. the victim who has been unidentified was taken to the hospital and a few hours ago died from his injury. homicide detectives, as i said, have taken over the case from northeast detectives and it's homicide detebtives who will determine if the shooting that happened here behind me is justified. reporting live in the holme circle section of the city, katy zachary. closing its doors for good, this morning trump plaza closing. this is just the latest development in the atlantic city casino crisis. what was once a boardwalk empire is now crumbling right before our eyes. nbc 10 jesse gary joins us live from outside the casino. jes jesse, what reaction are you getting from patrons or employees? >> a lot of employees are sad that this is their last day or last morning on the job. just a little while ago the signs went up on the doors. the doors are still open, but the casino is closed and they say they will lock the doors shortly. i talked to some folks over in the restaurant and they say there are still guests inside the hotel portion. the restaurant will stay open until 1:00 today because there are still guests in the hotel. let's look at our video. this was shot a little while ago by our photographer showing the actual closing or at least putting up of the signs. the casino portion is now closed and this comes, we'll look at our next video after the last few people left the actual casino portion of this complex. very few people were inside gambling overnight. i talked to a woman earlier this morning right after she finished her shift. ruth said she has been here for 26 years working in the casino. came back, got off the floor and actually came back at 6:00 to say good-bye to her co-workers. >> we stay in touch. wish the best for everybody. and i mean, that's all you can do. wish the best for everybody. i worked with a lot of these people for a lot of years. just want to come see them before i left to go home. >> now, the big question facing ruth and 1,000 other employees or former employees here is what comes next. this is the fourth casino and there is word that the next trump property likely operate in that building at some point. it is 6:37. a preliminary hearing is scheduled for today for a philadelphia man accused of shooting four people. police say he got into an argument with his neighbor on august 9th and then a short time later he opened fire near whittaker and wyoming avenues hitting the intended victim in the leg and injuring three innocent bystanders. one of the victims is a father who was shot in the head while his wife and children were in the car. well, you can take away their money, but you can't take away a local cheerleading squad's spirit. we caught up with the nj cheer squad at a fund-raiser in burlington county last night. their bank account is empty because police say janine hamilton took more than $9,000 from them over the last nine months. she served as a board member of the association. michelle netterfield who recently took over as treasurer said the squad will weather the storm. hamilton has been released. she is awaiting a court hearing. the cheer force is relying solely on donations and fund-raisers like this one to replenish their account. good morning. we are tracking rain moving into parts of philadelphia now starting to move into south jersey and right along the shore. we only expect the rain to last throughout your morning hours and then we'll see fall-like temperatures, again, settling in for us. after this rain moves out, we are tracking a dry stretch, which will be nice, especially with those below average temperatures staying in the 70s. but a closer look at our live shot right now looks like the rain stopped right over center city. we'll show you what that looks like on our radar. right at the airport light rain coming down and air is calm and visibility is down. down to six miles, as well. be careful as you're heading out the door. we are seeing ponding on the roadways and take your time and bring your umbrella today. once we get rid of these showers today, we'll see more clearing. you won't need the umbrellas later on. as you can see, all the rain tracking to the east moving at 30 miles per hour and moving quickly. pushing out of allentown and starting to push out of center city and pushing out of chester and heading to the east, moving into burlington county so you can see it just moved past mt. laurel. we're seeing a little bit more rain moving into winslow more of the light rain in winslow and in your late morning hours we'll see most of the rainfall combine to south jersey and also right here along the shore by 11:00 a.m. it's mainly confined to toms river. clearing, even the clouds will start to clear up. by the time you head out for lunch a nice day and mix of sun and clouds and temperatures staying in the 70s for us today. in allentown, big change from yesterday where we were in the 40s. 60 degrees and 59 currently in cherry hill and 56 in trenton and closer to the shore we're nice and warm. 68. that's a mild start to the morning in avalon and today our temperatures will range between 73 and 76 degrees. after the early showers clear up, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures staying below average for us, three degrees below average. 75 on your tuesday and 73 on wednesday staying in the low 70s heading into the rest of your workweek and warming up by the weekend. reminding our viewers those who are commuting this morning, the showers continue to move east, i've been watching traffic cameras in those areas to see what the traffic conditions are like. in the garden state on the new jersey turn pike in west hampton township. look at all that wet weather and water on the road. be careful it could be slick as you head out today. take a look right now on interstate 95 on the southbound side and the long-term construction traffic. things are slow as they are every morning. 38 minutes your travel time southbound from wood avon road to the vine street expressway. amtrak northeast corridor still seeing and brown youth. trayvon martin was shot and killed in florida of february 2012, you'll remember. former neighborhood watch captain george zimmerman was acquitted of murder in martin's death last year. fulton is the co-founder of the trayvon martin foundation. two men are talking to nbc 10 about being attacked in center city last week. they were assaulted because they're gay. the men were walking to get pizza at 10:30 on 16th and chancellor streets when they were confronted by at least a dozen men and women. they say someone in that group asked if they were a couple and when they answered yes, they were jumped. >> when i had three or four of these guys on me, i turned around and i saw his head hit the ground. like hard. and hard but didn't come up. his neck didn't move back up and i was horrified. i thought he was dead. >> the victim tells us the attackers repeatedly yelled homphobic slurs during the beating. witnesses told us the same thing. one man has several fractured bones in his face and they have video of the group walking 16th street but no word if they will release that video eto the public. the same prosecutor in atlantic county who let ray rice enter the pretrial intervention program is having second thoughts of punishing a philadelphia mother. driving to new jersey without registering her gun. it's legally registered in pennsylvania. allen tells nbc atlantic county saying, free shaneen from unfair prosecution. adrian peterson's first court appearance is set for october 8th on child abuse charges. that's when he is expected to enter a plea on charges that he used a switch to discipline his 4-year-old son. the vikings said peterson is expected to play this week. the team benched him for sunday's game after a grand jury indicted him. peterson released a statement that reads in part, "i have to live with the fact that when i discipline my son the way i was disciplined as a child i caused an injury that i never intended or thought would happen. i also understand after meeting with a psychologist that there are other alternative ways of disciplining a child that may be more appropriate." the u.s. says more than 30 nations have now pledged their support for an american led offensive against isis militants. the pledge of support came after a meeting in paris yesterday. the u.s. plan is a three-prong attack. build a coalition, strengthen the iraqi army and syrian rebels and then weaken isis with air strikes. isis still holds large parts of northern iraq and syria and dozens of foreign hostages including, still, two americans. top white house officials are heading to capitol hill today pushing for president obama's strategy for fighting isis. secretary of defense chuck hagel and joint chief of staff chair general overnight, philadelphia police are sorting out what led to a deadly shooting in the holme center. >> i'm told right now homicide detectives are interviewing the 41-year-old man who fired that deadly shot, as well as his 20-year-old daughter who lives in this apartment in holme circle. the shooting happened inside this apartment around 11:30 last night. a 32-year-old man broke into a rear window and was shot by the man who lived at this home with his apartment. now police are also saying it's possible that the intruder was let in by the shooter's 20-year-old daughter. police are trying to get to the bottom of it. no charges or arrests have been made in this. reporting live in holme circle, katy zachary. the casino has locked its doors and is now out of business. jesse gary live all morning long talking with workers and gamblers. tell us more. >> the signs are up and the doors are open still. the casino is closed. the hotel is not. that will happen later. this is the fourth casino in problems right now on the northeast corridor between philadelphia and washington, d.c. so, that's downed wires that's causing the service disruption and amtrak says they don't know when that service will resume. on the boulevard northbound we have a disabled vehicle. it is off to hthe shoulder not causing any delays. right now on the 42 freeway traffic is moving along pretty well. 55 miles per hour on the northbound side and looks like a bit of a slow down here sheddhe southbound. vai? right now trump plaza is locking its doors for the final time. it is the latest in the string of casino closures in atlantic city. the atlantic club was the first to close in january, show boat shut its doors august 31st. two days later, revel casino closed and jesse gary joins us live now from outside the casino. jesse, just another shoe that's dropping. >> that's right, vai. they just posted these signs on the door which say closed. i'll move out of the way. as they were putting the signs up, members of different media moved in front to get shots of the sign. they have now been posted. the revolving door's still unlocked but look like they're starting to lock those up, as well. some of the employees and customers start to come out for the last time. take a look at our video. this was shot inside the casino a little while ago. you can see how empty it is. very few people here during the early morning hours to play the slot machines for the last time. i spoke to a couple guys who made their way in from camden this morning who, when i asked if the casino is not here, i mean, do you still come all the way down to atlantic city just for a beach? would you come if it wasn't a casino? >> nah. it all depends on what kind of money because we have everything around our way now. we don't have casinos in camden. we could go to philly, but i don't trust them. i would rather stick here. this is where i was raised and gambling. >> yeah, so, it looks like the problem with atlantic city is they need another draw beyond just casinos and perhaps in addition to casinos. so, a lot of talk of maybe making and bringing in more entertainment as a way to try to hold people here, once the casinos, at least four of them this year have closed. this may not be the end of it. there's talk that the trump taj mahal may be next on the hit list. we'll talk about that more coming up at 6:30. jesse gary, nbc 10 news. meanwhile, a bankruptcy court judge has approved an auction for the revel casino hotel scheduled for september 24th. the option was approved from a cash bid from a florida developer was made public last week. an attorney says parts of the building could reopen weeks after the sale and a casino could operate in the building at some point. it is 6:04. new from overnight, philadelphia police are trying to figure out the circumstances that led to a deadly shooting in the city's home circle section. a 42-year-old man told police that he shot a guy trying to break into his apartment. the 32-year-old man died and now police say that man who was killed may have been dating the man's 20-year-old daughter. they are questioning both the father and daughter right now. a young girl is recovering this morning after she was found unconscious in pennypack park. police are trying to determine how the 15-year-old girl ended up in the woods of the park a few feet from the sidewalk. she was in her school uniform suffering from a bump on her head and bruises on the back of her leg. a man walking north on roosevelt boulevard found the girl unresponsive, but breathing. >> somebody walking by could see her. somebody driving by north on the boulevard would not be able to see this female. so, we're very fortunate that somebody did walk by and did see this female unconscious and did notify police. >> the 15-year-old girl was taken to st. christopher's hospital where she is listed in stable condition. philadelphia police say a fight over a game of pool led to a deadly shooting at a bar. this happened around 10:00 last night. the family tavern, that's at the corner of east luzerne and bennington streets. a man inside the bar was killed and a gunman is still on the loose. police hope security cameras captured the shooting and help lead them to an arrest. now a $40,000 reward for information on the person who killed a pregnant woman and her baby in philadelphia on sunday. 25-year-old was sitting outside her home in frankfurt when she was hit by a stray bullet. she was eight months pregnant. the baby girl was delivered but died a few hours later. investigators tell us they're looking for a man in black clothing seen shooting at a white ford sedan. state police have developed a profile on a gunman who ambushed two pennsylvania police officers. he visits a local shooting range to keep his skills sharp. he likely made several trips to the state police barracks picking just the right hiding spot from which he could launch an ambush and make his escape. dixon was killed and another officer hurt. dixon spent a year in winfield before being transferred. >> he was a natural leader and a good man to have here at the station. the guys that worked for him loved him. >> ten of his colleagues from the belmont barracks will be pallbearers at his funeral on thursday. a former boarding schoolteacher is facing charges after accused of having a sexual relationship with one of his students. nolan johnson was a theater teacher. accused of having sex with a 6-year-old girl several times both on and off campus this year. the respiratory virus that has sickened hundreds of kids have hit the northeast. new york has confirmed enterovirus. as far south as alabama and as far west as colorado. several hundred suspected cases have not been confirmed by the centers for disease control. and as we told you last week, some of those cases are in "c.b delaware. 12 children were hospitalized and symptoms of enterovirus. we could know by friday if the virus is behind their particular illnesses. runny nose, congestion and fever. happening today, a new coalition will be introduced that will push for funding to repair new jersey's worn out roads and bridges. the group says it hopes to create long-term solution to the garden state outdated infrastructure and to keep the state transportation trust fund in tact. now to decision 2014, the pennsylvania immigration and citizenship coalition wants immigrants in philadelphia to register to vote. the group will have a voter registration sign up at love park today at the constitutional center and then love park again on thursday. the coalition says getting immigrant communities to register and turn out to vote is a key part of its mission. this is part of the multi-cultural passport and celebration of philadelphia's cultural richness. nbc 10 and telemundo 62 are sponsors. you can see the rain is coming down and light rain right now is affecting your morning commute and i am seeing some ponding on the roadways and closer look where we're seeing our delays. flags are blowing on top of the aramark building. light rain through our area as we head into the next hour or so. we are checking out your radar. showers moving in from the west and tracking to the east at 30 miles per hour and pushing into norristown, philadelphia, up to allentown and the poconos. we'll start with the poconos because you can see when we see the returns here in the yellow and red, that's more of a moderate rainfall and when it's green, it's light rainfall. a mix of light and moderate rain just to the north of allentown and since everything is tracking to the east, richboro will probably see moderate rainfall in the next 10, 15 minutes or so. we're seeing a good downtop ppo coming down and that is, again, tracking to the east and glassboro up next. if we take a closer look at our tracking, by 6:15 the city of glocester will see light rainfall. 6:25 pine hill. so, a wet start to your morning and heading into your afternoon. we will see clearing a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures stay below average for us. our future weather shows us by 8:00 a.m., light rainfall to trenton and south jersey and right along the shore by 9:00, 10:00. and by your lunchtime hour, most of the rain should be gone, even the clouds will start to clear as we head into your early evening. so, right now from philadelphia, the rain is finally starting to come down right in the city eand at the airport. 61 degrees and light rainfall and humidity is up and wind speeds aren't too bad at 3 miles per hour. our average for this time of year, 78 degrees and today's high 75 and then we drop down even more as we head into wednesday. our temperatures range between 73 and 76. early showers expected the wilmington police department is cikicking off its citizen police academy today. an eight-week course to teach people about their police department. the pressures that come with law enforcement and wilmington police chief says one of the biggest goals is to build a relationship with the people of the city. >> we have the technology and the investigators who are able to go out here and, again, uncover a lot of crime ask collect evidence. when it comes to getting actual information and confirming things, we need that to come from the community and in order for the community to give us that information, we have to have that level of trust built back. >> the wilmington police academy, citizens academy is open to the public if you'd like to attend. rutgers university is apologizing for controversial t-shirts, some of its fans wore to the school's football game against penn state this past weekend. take a look at some of the shirts worn by fans tailgating before the game and posted on facebook. you can see a fan that laughs with the shirt, it's a reference to jerry sandusky child sex abuse scandal that rocked penn state campus two years ago. julie herman said, i would like to apologize equally to the penn state university fans, as well as rutgers fans that were subjected to this classless display. this does not represent the eethoes of our university, athletic department or fan base. a heads up for people who drive through bucks county. penndott crews working on a resurfacing project that will cause lane restrictions from 9:00 until 3:00 this week. there will be more indefinitely from philadelphia to washington, d.c. when we checked with amtrak they said they had engineers working on it because of the downed wires. they are trying to move the wires out of the way and they don't know when the service will resume. septa moving along quite nicely but schuylkill expressway and blue route, traffic is moving along nicely. good morning, we'll have to show you this picture, again, because it really paints the picture that rain is coming down in philadelphia and it's starting to move out, though. so, if we take a closer look at the radar, you can see it's very spotty. depends on where you are, but if you're right near 676 or i-95 here, that's where we're still seeing rainfall coming down and more of a moderate downpour. as we push into the rest of your morning, still see showers in our area and as we head into the afternoon, those will clear up. most of the rainfall has now pushed out of north town and starting to push into the east of philadelphia pushing into northern parts of burlington, just over trenton right now. some of our heaviest rain coming down in richboro and as we head into the rest of this morning, we continue to see the showers tracking to the east. in our later morning hours combined to south jersey and also right along the shore. glocester dealing with rainfall and, again, everything is racing to the east. moving quickly at 30 miles per hour. mt. laurel also seeing light to moderate rainfall. closer to 6:32, we could see some of the showers and also as we head into your 8:00 hour, we're still dealing with showers near the south jersey area, closer to the shore. after that, after 11:00, that's when we'll start to see more clearing and also with our clouds. so, heading into the rest of today, we will see temperatures warming into the mid-70s. 61 at the philadelphia airport with rain coming down and speeds out of the south, southeast at 5 miles per hour. average 78 and today's high 75. if you take a look at that rain has already moved east and out of chester county. that is good news for chester there. on the northeast extension, you can see all of this green and that's what we like to see moving along pretty ewell. but be aware on the southbound lane the right lane is blocked due to a disabled truck there. look at the haze and limited visibility and through this is the burlington bristol bridge and did open and just closing right now so traffic should be able to resume shortly. plymouth township and west germantown pike, an accident to be aware of. this has been a big problem throughout the talked to homicide detective. they are interviewing the man and his 20-year-old daughter that live right here. police are looking into several different possibilities one is that the intruder may have been a stranger or that he may have been dating the man's daughter. police were called to the apartment around 11:30 last night for a shooting, preliminarily officers say it appears the 32-year-old man broke into a back window and was shot by the man who lived inside this apartment, a 41-year-old man. he lived here with his 21-year-old daughter. also then police a short time later said they're looking into the possibility that the intruder was dating the man's 20-year-old daughter and she may have let him inside the apartment. either way, he was shot by the man who lived here and here's what else police are saying about what happened. >> possibly may have been a struggle. however, we know that the 41-year-old male fired one shot striking the 32-year-old victim in the head one time. >> police say they don't know the circumstances behind that struggle. the victim who has been unidentified was taken to the hospital and a few hours ago died from his injury. homicide detectives, as i said, have taken over the case from northeast detectives and it's homicide detebtives who will determine if the shooting that happened here behind me is justified. reporting live in the holme circle section of the city, katy zachary. closing its doors for good, this morning trump plaza closing. this is just the latest development in the atlantic city casino crisis. what was once a boardwalk empire is now crumbling right before our eyes. nbc 10 jesse gary joins us live from outside the casino. jes jesse, what reaction are you getting from patrons or employees? >> a lot of employees are sad that this is their last day or last morning on the job. just a little while ago the signs went up on the doors. the doors are still open, but the casino is closed and they say they will lock the doors shortly. i talked to some folks over in the restaurant and they say there are still guests inside the hotel portion. the restaurant will stay open until 1:00 today because there are still guests in the hotel. let's look at our video. this was shot a little while ago by our photographer showing the actual closing or at least putting up of the signs. the casino portion is now closed and this comes, we'll look at our next video after the last few people left the actual casino portion of this complex. very few people were inside gambling overnight. i talked to a woman earlier this morning right after she finished her shift. ruth said she has been here for 26 years working in the casino. came back, got off the floor and actually came back at 6:00 to say good-bye to her co-workers. >> we stay in touch. wish the best for everybody. and i mean, that's all you can do. wish the best for everybody. i worked with a lot of these people for a lot of years. just want to come see them before i left to go home. >> now, the big question facing ruth and 1,000 other employees or former employees here is what comes next. this is the fourth casino and there is word that the next trump property here, the taj mahal, that could be shut in a couple months, also. live in atlantic city, jesse gary, nbc 10 news. >> here's a recap of the casino closes. showboat closed its doors august 31 and couple days later revel casino closed their doors and just a half hour ago trump plaza. a bankruptcy court judge has approved a closeout scheduled for september 24th. the option was approved after a $90 million cash bid from florida developer was made public last week. an attorney for glen strob said parts of the building could reopen within a couple weeks after the sale. he also said the casino will likely operate in that building at some point. it is 6:37. a preliminary hearing is scheduled for today for a philadelphia man accused of shooting four people. police say he got into an argument with his neighbor on august 9th and then a short time later he opened fire near whittaker and wyoming avenues hitting the intended victim in the leg and injuring three innocent bystanders. one of the victims is a father who was shot in the head while his wife and children were in the car. well, you can take away their money, but you can't take away a local cheerleading squad's spirit. we caught up with the nj cheer squad at a fund-raiser in burlington county last night. their bank account is empty because police say janine hamilton took more than $9,000 from them over the last nine months. she served as a board member of the association. michelle netterfield who recently took over as treasurer said the squad will weather the storm. hamilton has been released. she is awaiting a court hearing. the cheer force is relying solely on donations and fund-raisers like this one to replenish their account. good morning. we are tracking rain moving into parts of philadelphia now starting to move into south jersey and right along the shore. we only expect the rain to last throughout your morning hours and then we'll see fall-like temperatures, again, settling in for us. after this rain moves out, we are tracking a dry stretch, which will be nice, especially with those below average temperatures staying in the 70s. but a closer look at our live shot right now looks like the rain stopped right over center city. we'll show you what that looks like on our radar. right at the airport light rain coming down and air is calm and visibility is down. down to six miles, as well. be careful as you're heading out the door. we are seeing ponding on the roadways and take your time and bring your umbrella today. once we get rid of these showers today, we'll see more clearing. you won't need the umbrellas later on. as you can see, all the rain tracking to the east moving at 30 miles per hour and moving quickly. pushing out of allentown and starting to push out of center city and pushing out of chester and heading to the east, moving into burlington county so you can see it just moved past mt. laurel. we're seeing a little bit more rain moving into winslow more of the light rain in winslow and in your late morning hours we'll see most of the rainfall combine to south jersey and also right here along the shore by 11:00 a.m. it's mainly confined to toms river. clearing, even the clouds will start to clear up. by the time you head out for lunch a nice day and mix of sun and clouds and temperatures staying in the 70s for us today. in allentown, big change from yesterday where we were in the 40s. 60 degrees and 59 currently in cherry hill and 56 in trenton and closer to the shore we're nice and warm. 68. that's a mild start to the morning in avalon and today our temperatures will range between 73 and 76 degrees. after the early showers clear up, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures staying below average for us, three degrees below average. 75 on your tuesday and 73 on wednesday staying in the low 70s heading into the rest of your workweek and warming up by the weekend. reminding our viewers those who are commuting this morning, service interruption right now. service suspended indefinitely between philadelphia and washington, d.c., due to downed wires. septa though just sent out this tweet. going to west trenton is operating and brown youth. trayvon martin was shot and killed in florida of february 2012, you'll remember. former neighborhood watch captain george zimmerman was acquitted of murder in martin's death last year. fulton is the co-founder of the trayvon martin foundation. two men are talking to nbc 10 about being attacked in center city last week. they were assaulted because they're gay. the men were walking to get pizza at 10:30 on 16th and chancellor streets when they were confronted by at least a dozen men and women. they say someone in that group asked if they were a couple and when they answered yes, they were jumped. >> when i had three or four of these guys on me, i turned around and i saw his head hit the ground. like hard. and hard but didn't come up. his neck didn't move back up and i was horrified. i thought he was dead. >> the victim tells us the attackers repeatedly yelled homphobic slurs during the beating. witnesses told us the same thing. one man has several fractured bones in his face and they have video of the group walking 16th street but no word if they will release that video eto the public. the same prosecutor in atlantic county who let ray rice enter the pretrial intervention program is having second thoughts of punishing a philadelphia mother. driving to new jersey without registering her gun. it's legally registered in pennsylvania. allen tells nbc 10 that the prosecutor sent her a letter that states her trial has been postponed for several weeks while he reviews his office's position on the matter. >> grabbed my kids and i start praying. i was like, maybe, you know, things can look up for mommy. maybe mommy won't be going to jail. >> the possible shift in position comes as the new jersey second amendment society put up these billboards in atlantic county saying, free shaneen from unfair prosecution. adrian peterson's first court appearance is set for october 8th on child abuse charges. that's when he is expected to enter a plea on charges that he used a switch to discipline his 4-year-old son. the vikings said peterson is expected to play this week. the team benched him for sunday's game after a grand jury indicted him. peterson released a statement that reads in part, "i have to live with the fact that when i discipline my son the way i was disciplined as a child i caused an injury that i never intended or thought would happen. i also understand after meeting with a psychologist that there are other alternative ways of disciplining a child that may be more appropriate." the u.s. says more than 30 nations have now pledged their support for an american led offensive against isis militants. the pledge of support came after a meeting in paris yesterday. the u.s. plan is a three-prong attack. build a coalition, strengthen the iraqi army and syrian rebels and then weaken isis with air strikes. isis still holds large parts of northern iraq and syria and dozens of foreign hostages including, still, two americans. top white house officials are heading to capitol hill today pushing for president obama's strategy for fighting isis. secretary of defense chuck hagel and joint chief of staff chair general martin dempsey will appear before the senate armed services committee. lawmakers are ready to act. >> i believe it's in our national security interest for the congress to act quickly. >> a vote could come as early as this week on whether to authorize the president's program. happening today, the war on ebola. the obama administration is getting set to send over 3,000 military personnel to west africa. officials say president obama will make the announcement at the centers for disease control and prevention in atlanta. the troops will supply medical and logistical support and boost the morning, but we are dealing with decreased visibility and you can see how foggy the camera is over center city. fall-like weather will continue as we head to the rest of your workweek. here's a closer look at all the rainfall and trenton and most of burlington county seeing light rainfall and embedded are moderate downpours. trenton right here seeing more of a moderate rainfall at this time. tabernacle also dealing with moderate rainfall and same thing for gloucester. heading to the next few hours by 9:00 a.m., still dealing with light showers popping up and even along the i-95 corridor and then moving into south jersey for the final time. notice more clearing by lunchtime and clouds will start to clear and combination of sun and clouds and temperatures stay below average. for philadelphia right now, 62 degrees and still reporting rain at the airport and humidity eis up and our wind speeds are still light, so, a closer look. you can see foggy skies for us. allow a little extra time to get to work. temperatures today ranging between 73 and 76 degrees. your seven-day forecast shows below average temperatures will continue. our average for this time of year, 78. you can look at the ben franklin bridge right now. it is stacked coming into philadelphia from camden. so, allow yourself some extra time. our normal problem areas are stacked up like 422 here in montgomery county and it's a dreary day out there. 12 minutes your travel time heading from oaks to 202. look at all the red lights, to the vine expressway. 76 is slow as is 55. i suspect the rain is playing a role in that, as well. a man enters an apartment and is shot and killed. now philadelphia police this morning want to know if he was an intruder or if he knew the people inside. three minutes before overnight, philadelphia police are sorting out what led to a deadly shooting in the holme center. >> i'm told right now homicide detectives are interviewing the 41-year-old man who fired that deadly shot, as well as his 20-year-old daughter who lives in this apartment in holme circle. the shooting happened inside this apartment around 11:30 last night. a 32-year-old man broke into a rear window and was shot by the man who lived at this home with his apartment. now police are also saying it's possible that the intruder was let in by the shooter's 20-year-old daughter. police are trying to get to the bottom of it. no charges or arrests have been made in this. reporting live in holme circle, katy zachary. the casino has locked its doors and is now out of business. jesse gary live all morning
