slammed into a house and then it partially collapsed. and when paramedics got on the scene on seybert street in north philadelphia, the driver, believed to be in his 20s was dead. hundreds of bricks fell on his car. homicide investigators had to call l & i to make sure the building was safe. they're also trying to figure out the identity of the driver. now an update to a story we brought you yesterday morning, breaking news. right now, philadelphia believe are guarding property that they believe is going to lead to the investigation of the kidnapping and death of two men. jesse, what changed since we last talked to you a half hour ago? >> reporter: chris, a police van has moved in front of the trailer there. but just as doing the report, the van pulled off and a cruiser came back. typically vans are used to transport evidence from scenes because they're larger and can hold more. unclear if the van's going to come back or if they're going to put everything in the police cruiser. we could have a search warrant signed by that judge in the next couple of minutes if not the next hour. police say the lone survivor of abduction and kidnapping led them to this area. he was one of three victims ultimately stabbed and dumped in the schuylkill river yesterday. two of the men died from their wounds or drowning. a third crawled out of the water and ultimately got help. investigators worked it back to this area here and found a marijuana grow operation. that prompted a request for a search warrant to be executed at that property and also a white house across the street. we'll have an update for you by the end of the show. live in southwest philadelphia, jesse gary, "nbc10 news." >> jesse, thanks for the update. 6:03, philadelphia police investigating a shooting in kensington. two men in their 20s were shot at east cambria streets just before 11:00 last night. both are in stable condition. we do not know of any arrest whoos or what led to that. fire cruise say the rear of a house crumbled in the back yard. nobody was hurt. this morning, the u.s. is investigating reports that a second american may have been killed while fighting for the militant group isis in syria. u.s. forces tell nbc news that another man was killed in the same battle that took the life of douglas mccain, the other american. isis fighters have seized control of syria and golan heights. this is video that is said to show the islamic fighters near the israeli border. the national institute of held will release new details about the first ever human trials of the ebola vaccine. the vaccine made by glaxosmithkline has shown promises in animal studies. the first trial to see if humans was going to start in the fall but work has been accelerated because of the outbreak. the trials will begin as early as next week. testimony resumes today in the trial of a 21-year-old woman who is charged with abducting a girl from school and sexually assaulting her. the now 7-year-old victim took the stand to testify against her alleged abductor. prosecutors say christina regusters knew the child from an after school program and took her from the elementary school without showing her i.d. the defense said they have the wrong person. the girl was on the stand and said they shot the woman who came to get her was her mother because she was dressed in muslim attire. she was taken to a house and blind folded. when asked if anything bad happened to her inside the house. she said she didn't remember but she said, quote, i just remember hurting. prosecutors say she was sexually assaulted with a sharp object. this morning, philadelphia police are looking for a gunman who crashed a frat party and robbed a frat house. it happened at the off campus out on 42nd street. the victims tell nbc10 they were hosting a birthday party for a friend when two guys stormed in the house with gun us and took off with $1,000. the university said it's sending out a safety alert to students. also this morning, the philadelphia housing authority is phasing out the security guards at many of its properties, and those changes not sitting very well with residents there. at one complex in south philadelphia, tenants showed us the brand-new fencing to be security after the guard is removed from duty. apparently there are 50 guards on duty each day. that will cut it down to 41 next month with more reductions to follow. the pha said it's adding new surveillance cameras, swipe cards for reasons and more patrols. some people insist nothing can replace a live guard stationed onsite. >> they're not going to be patrolling every hour. i mean, hand on is so much better than wait for somebody to respond to a call. >> now, eventually, the housing authority plans to hire more full police officers leading toward a community policing model. but right now, there are no guarantees how many of those officers could eventually be hired or when it will happen. >> incident in which russian hackers attacked the u.s. financial system this morning. "the new york times" reports jpmorgan chase and at least four other firms were hit this month bit coordinated attack that siphoned off huge amounts of data including checking an savings account information. meantime, "the wall street journal" called the attacks a significant breach of corporate security. meantime, a spokesperson with jpmorgan chase would not confirm the reports but would only say that large companies experience cyberattacks nearly every day and they have multiple layers of security to counteract the threats. authorities say they have identified the remains of 173 victims of the airline that was shot down last month. the flight crashed after apparently being hit by a missile over eastern ukraine on july 17th. listen to this, the sister of the boston marathon bombing suspect is now under arrest. police say she threatened to bomb a woman who was romantically involved with her boyfriend. police say ailina tsarnaev made that thread to a woman over the phone to a woman in manhattan. she turned herself in. her brother dzhokhar tsarnaev pleaded not guilty to the charges to the boston marathon bombings. and tamerlan tsarnaev died hours after the bombing. three people died and more than 260 were hurt. a crew member of the tv show "cops" was shot and killed by police while filming in nebraska. this morning, three omaha police officers are on leave. the officers interrupted a robbery at a fast food restaurant. they opened fire on the suspect. the show's audio technician and the suspect was killed. the suspect was carrying a pellet gun that police thought was real. today we may seen surveillance video of an armed robbery at fishtown. two men showed up at north philadelphia avenue pretending to be police. that's how they were disguised. the men forced the owner to open the safe. the robbers got away with $100,000. and from our delaware bureau, albert lech is faced with charges of drunk driving and vehicular assault after police say he people to the hospital. their conditions have not been release a new type of designer drug has been discovered for the first time in the lehigh valley land down police say this man in hatfield township is dealing in lsd-like drugs known as 25-i or embalm. police say they've never discovered the drug. it's made to mimic the effects of lsd. the drug can be smoked, snorted or ingested. chemical experts say the drug is easily manufactured and highly potent. they say small amounts can cause seizures, cardiac and respiratory arrest and even death. a virginia mom described what happened police say a man came home to find a burglar in his house. here's what we know. they say the man went inside. found the burglar in there. the burglar ran off. the homeowner chased him. police say the burglar then fired at the pursuing homeowner. no one was hurt. suspect was still on the run, police say. we'll continue to follow this story and bring you any significant information as we get it. 6:22, new from overnight, philadelphia police are searching for a man who shot and killed a man while he was driving. the driver them crashed into a house and caused it to collapse. >> reporter: hi, tracy. police when we got to the scene told us the driver was shot while he was driving on seybert street which caused him to collapse into this abandoned home. you can see hundreds of bricks fell on the victim's car burying it in rubble. when paramedics got to the scene around midnight they found the victim dead apparently from gunshot wounds. homicide detectives were called out but couldn't get to it right away because of all the rubble. they sent a crew out here. the building was safe enough for the investigation to continue. police did find bullet casings in the street not far from the collapsed building. >> from the crime scene the ballistic evidence is about 100 yards west. the not going to interfere with the ballistic evidence. we found 18 shell casings. >> reporter: there is surveillance in the areas they're hoping to find contact with the businesses or owners of those cameras. at this point, police do not know hoot shooter is. they're looking for that person. in terms of the victim, he's not been identified. they only know he's a man in his 20s. possibly early 30s. and he was driving a light blue, 2008 hyundai when this happened. reporting live, katy zachry, "nbc 10 news today." other things we've picked up, police are cushioning an investigation of a two men shot in kensington. no arrests yet or what led to the shooting. also overnight, a portion of a house collapsed in mansfield second. prosecutors say the rear of a vacant home crumbled. police are saying illegal drugs and a violent game may behind the kidnapping of three men and the murder of two them. police believe that the abductors brought the three men to a house there sometime tuesday night. investigators tell us there's a marijuana growing operation inside the home. authorities say the men were bound, stabbed and dumped into the schuylkill river. one man survived. happening today, a trial of a philadelphia woman yesterday the now-year-old victim took the stand against her alleged talker christina regusters. the girl was on the stand about an hour. she testified that the girl thought the woman who cape came to get her was her mom. we are just getting news in the ongoing jersey scam bridge investigation. we're learning that lawmakers have subpoenaed at&t for phone records of this woman here one of governor christie's top aides. regina ajia. this has to do with testimony about the bridge scandal herself. she has testified that she texted christie her thoughts on her testimony. and he says he didn't remember getting the text. now, to the school budget crisis. a rally calling for camden county man shot and killed his wife inside a hospital and then shot himself. and as police were investigating they found the couple's son also dead. investigators say he brought a gun into kennedy university hospital in stratford. shot his wife denise. she died. then he turned the gun on himself. he's being treated for injuries. afterwards, police went to the house in glendora and found the son ryan shot to death. a neighbor recently told police that the father sold another house to pay for his wife's medical bills. >> i had to call 911, he wasn't home, he was working she actually fell in the house. >> you come to the hospital thinking you're nice and safe and you find out someone's there with a gun. >> the police are trying to confirm in the two shootings are related. happening today, a rally will be held in camden to show solidarity with protesters in ferguson, missouri. union members and members of local churches will gather at camden hall. they say camden is similar to the community where michael brown was shot and killed earlier this month. meantime, the missouri national guard has completely left ferguson now that the violence has decreased. the governor summoned them there to the city to help control the unrest. the st. louis county police will continue to oversee security in ferguson. a declare county woman has been found guilty of buying guns for a convicted felon. under the new brad fox law. stacy dawson was the first person charged in delaware county under the new law enacted last year. it's named for a montgomery county police officer murdered by a man who got his gun through a straw purchase. a straw purchase is for someone who can't buy a gun or doesn't want a gun in their name. the shooting range where a 9-year-old kid an instructor has reopen reopened. prosecutors in arizona say no criminal charges will be filed in that case. on monday, this is the video here. the instructor was showing the girl how to fire the molesting his 2-year-old foster child. the fbi says michael lutz was given custody of that prematurely born boy, investigators say he molested the baek and recorded it on his phone on tuesday. he's pleaded not guilty of exploiting a child. because of his job, police are searching for other victims. witnesses say a police officer was trying to arrest a homeless man. hits hum with her baton. he pulled out a knife. the man runs away. and he stabbed an officer. and that's when the officer opened fire. all three were treated at a local hospital. thousands of palestinians raised flags during a hamas victory rally, but political analysts say neither side accomplished very much in the seven-week war that killed more than 2,000 people. this morning, the add obama administration is accusing russia of leading a new military counteroffensive in ukraine. according to the state department the russian campaign is helping rebel forces expand their fight in eastern ukraine. the u.s. said moscow a man was found dead inside his car after crashing into a building in north philadelphia. police say the crash is not what killed him, though, nbc10's katy zachry has been live on the scene. what's the latest? >> reporter: police say the victim was shot as he was driving and that's what caused him to crash into the building. the owner of the building arrived to the scene. he said it's a business. it's not an abandoned home like police first thought. hundreds of bricks fell on the victim's car, burying it under the rubble. paramedics did get to him first, discovering he had at least four gunshot wounds but this building posed a threat to those investigators because it was so unstable. so it sloweded their investigation. police did find 18 bullet casings, though, right on seybert street, not far from where we're standing. they have that evidence, as well as they're hoping to get surveillance cameras in the area. they're going to reach out to the owners of surveillance cameras on homes and businesses, hoping to figure out whapt happened here. they do know the name of the person. they know he's a man in his 20s for 30s. this morning, philadelphia police are guarding properties they believe are connected to the kidnapping and torture of three men. two of them were murdered. nbc10's jesse gary is live in philadelphia. tell us watts happening. >> reporter: they're still guarding one of two scenes. py they have a police van that was brought in earlier, now it's back. officials plan to have a search warrant to go in and looking for illegal drugs. this is video of a case where three men were kidnapped, robbed, bound, stabbed and tossed into the schuylkill river. two of the men didn't make it. the survivor indicated he was abducted from southwest philadelphia. they believe this is part of a drug hit. they believe it's connected to this property. the trailer behind me. and also a white house behind our camera position. police are waiting for a search warrant on at willow grove. easton road is closed between fitzwatertown road and maryland road. it's expected to be closed for the next few hours. you need to take york or welsh roads to get around it.
