County on Germantown Pike in plymouth township. One lane is closed after a car crashed into a utility poll. There you see the crews fixing the utility poll with power out to several homes and businesses in the area. Also on that crash. Medics took a man and woman to the hospital. This is video from earlier after the crash happened. Injuries we are told were not lifethreatening. Crews are still on the scene trying to fix the mess that the crash caused. And again, there are some lane closures on Germantown Pike in that area. Well get details from Christine Maddela watching the roads for us this morning. We saw in the live picture the large peco crews out there. So thats what is closing one lane. And so heres the breakdown. Germantown pike this is a section between hallow well road and pleasant road. Pleasant street. Germantown pike one westbound lane is open. You can get by to navigate around the peco crews westbound. And two eastbound lanes are open. But peco will be closing lanes in both directions to help make room to fix the utility pole. So right now because theres not a lot of volume on the roads, i would stick with it. But you can see here the cars are moving slowly. Thats the line of yellow here as cars approach that scene. As for the morning commute we have an alternate out there. Taking a live look outside on the interstates, just because we are not seeing a lot of volume, then were not seeing a lot of delays. Thats nor male this time of the day. 295 and the new jersey turnpike to the 42 freeway in new jersey those are all pretty clear for the most part. And if you are traveling on mass transit, everything is on or close to schedule. Paying final respects to a man who paid everything. Tonight the city of philadelphia says farewell to Fallen Police officer Robert Wilson iii. The first of two viewings will be held tonight. Reporter the police are now guarding the funeral here at 52nd and woodby where thousands of people are going to be showing up in just a few hours to pay their respects and also express their sympathy to the family of officer Robert Wilson iii. We first met the grandmother who raised him and called him robby over the weekend. She was surrounded by family who showed us Numerous Police accommodations. There have been many vigils to reflect on his commitment to the businesses in the 22nd district. Last night we attended this vigil a few blocks from where he lived. He was the father of two. Dozens of Police Officers joined neighbors and wilsons only sister. This is how his grandmother will remember the officer who sacrificed his life. He was just a nice guy. Reporter the viewing this evening begins at 4 00 and lasts until 8 00 at francis funeral home at 52nd and woodby in philadelphia. A second viewing is tomorrow morning from 7 00 to 10 00 at the polestra at the university of pennsylvania. Following that viewing, a celebration of his life a funeral will be at 10 00. The grandmother wanted to have the funeral tomorrow because she felt like more people would be able to attend. Officer wilson is buried at Fernwood Cemetery in landsdown. In the next half hour, were dping going to talk to commissioner ramsey about the tough days ahead for the Wilson Family as well as thousands of Police Officers coming from across the country. He was buying a video game for his son in West Philadelphia last thursday when Police Say Two men came in to commit a robbery. A shootout began and officer wilson was killed. A Ramon Williams and carl hips are charged for his murder. Both men pleaded guilty to the driveby shooting of cory white in philadelphia. This happened after whites exgirlfriend posted on her facebook she would pay someone 1,000 to have white killed. A judge gave her prison time and probation as part of her plea agreement. New this morning, a Chester County woman has been convicted on multiple accounts of animal cruelty. One of the dogs was found nearly frozen to death. Rosetta roman was charged with five counts of animal cruelty for failing to provide food watt earn shelter. Shes convicted on all charges and faces hundreds of dollars in fines. The cars were cleared out of the way on Germantown Pike. One westbound lane is open but two westbound lanes are open. Peco crews are still out there so you have to navigate around this closure. The Gloucester County township is looking into replacing the police with a private security firm. The district says it is getting less state money and the cost of police is rising. The school is looking into all their options. The Camden School district is looking into better servicing their students and last night School Officials met with parents and students. Similar meetings have been held as we look into how the district can overcome academics and enrollment challenges. They have been looking into improving lower grade schools. And High School Courses and choosing a college will have a fair this afternoon. And the phoenix Veterans Affair facility falsified medical records of wait times for veterans to touch off a complete overhaul. The new v. A. Well, philadelphia is getting ready to play host to another major event. Yes, a lot of victories lately including this big soccer tournament coming to philly and chester later this year. The philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter was there for the announcement. The gold cup will be played in this area on july 25th and 26th. Thats one of the biggest soccer tournaments in the world. Teams will play the third place match at the home of the Philadelphia Union at p. L. Park in chester. The championship game will be the next day at lincoln financial field. And mayor nutter was also kicking off the annual spring cleanup. The citywide cleanup is scheduled for saturday april 11th where citizens will Work Together to spruce up the city. Our temperatures are going to stay similar to what we saw yesterday, but then the rain moves in as we head into tonight. Its going to last all day on saturday and well see dryer conditions heading into sunday. But windy conditions as well. You can see the flag moving there atop the aramark building for philadelphia. 34 degrees, mostly clear skies. The winds are out of the east northeast at 5 miles an hour. We are dealing with a bit of a windchill. Feels like 30 degrees. Bundle up the kids heading out the door this morning. Across the rest of the region, 30 degrees in reading. 27 in Atlantic City. So its definitely a colder start to the morning. Keep that in mind. 25 in shenandoah. 27 in lancaster. Quakertown, 25. 26 in allentown. 30 degrees if youre waking up with us in bloomville. 30 in northeast philly. 31 degrees in mount holly. Then temperatures are 34 in avalon and 31 degrees in dover. A big difference from this morning to yesterday morning. We are down to 16 degrees. 16 in pottstown. So as we head into the rest of the afternoon, temperatures recover are clouds increasing into the afternoon as well. This is all part of this system right here that is going to move closer to us throughout the day. So by tonight, expect rain to move in. Once the rain starts, it will continue all day into saturday. So closer to 10 00 or 11 00, thats when the rain moves in from the west. As we progress and wake up saturday morning, still rain coming down. A steady, light rain. Well see pockets of heavy downpours. Then getting into 8 00 p. M. Youll notice most of the rainfall moving out. But still lingering showers. This is a 24hour period of nonstop rain that is mainly light. A quick look at the forecast after 10 00 p. M. All day saturday we could see anywhere between 3 4 an inch to an inch of rain. Thats a lot of rain coming down. Then today our temperatures range between 48 and 52. And a mix of sun and clouds. Rain moves in overnight tonight. At this hour theres not too much volume with more cars than earlier this morning, but because theres all of the peco crews out here working to repair the utility pole. If it was hit by a car earlier, this is the residual damage with the low hanging wires. Thats why crews will be there for quite some time. As we take a look at the map, i want to show you which section of Germantown Pike has on one westbound lane. The cars are navigating around the peco crews. A few eastbound lanes are open but peco will be closing lanes in each direction. So you are going to have trouble getting around that. On the map here you see the realtime traffic data. Those are the cars slowing down here. This section of Germantown Pike is hallow well road and pleasant road. Thats the section where the peco crews are working to repair those utility crews. So just be aware if thats part of the morning commute. Another crash were watching in upper mother moreland. Look at the schuylkill 76 at montgomery drive, not future volume out there. Overall, travel times look good throughout the area. And taking a look at the pennsylvania turnpike, what to expect there, 22 minutes in each direction westbound and eastbound from route 1 to valley forge. Tracy . Thank you. Speaking of the roads, residents are not on board with the proposed Improvement Plan that could make it easier to get around berks and lehigh county. Berks county officials and penndot officials want to build several roundabouts around 322 known as Allentown Pike. And another on shanks road in lehigh county. They want to build construction of the fourway highway but Officials Say that will cost too much. You may remember this crash in maiden creek township last year. A tractortrailer slammed into a line of cars killing two people. This is one of the busy spots along Allentown Pike where penndot wants to make improvements. Clean water from a secure force. Thats what the Pennsylvania American Water Company is promising to deliver by upgrading more than a dozen at the storage chain. Three of the water chains are in bucks, chester and montgomery counties. The company will spend nearly 7 million on the project. Pennsylvania American Water is the largest you till any the state with more than 2 million customers. Lawmakers take action to prevent gas explosions like the one last month in ocean county. It destroyed a house. They are drafting a plan to require explosive gas sensors to be installed in new jersey homes before they are issued a certificate of occupancy. Officials say its a nobrainer.
