Thats brought the colder air in and brought the temperatures in the teens for pottstown, northeast philadelphia trenton, 17 degrees right now. Factor in the wind feels like 7 in wilmington 8 in northeast if philly and trenton, and 12 below zero in the pocono mountains. Bundle up if youre heading out. Take your sunglasses. Brilliant sunshine during the day today. Sun up at 7 13 an the temperature at 9 00 23 degrees, by lunch time 30 and the winds easing off this afternoon. No accidents on the highways. Live look at route 73 at 295. 73 is clear. 38 looks good. Same situation on the new jersey turnpike. Pennsylvania turnpike also clear. The lines of green you can see out there drive times, very average, about 22 minutes both directions between bensalem and valley forge. No issues on the blue route. Our issues this morning is in
Montgomery County
in whitemarsh township. Bethlehem pike blocked between pennsylvania avenue and camp hill road because of
Fire Department
activity there. Take 309 or joshua road. Speaking of that fire new from overnight, that fire caused rescues and residents jumping to safety. It was a all of that at the scene of the
Apartment Fire
in
Montgomery County
. Nbc 10s katy zachry is live on the scene in whitemarsh township. Fighting a fire is never easy under conditions like this. It is hard out there. You spoke with some of the firefighters. They tell me that was one of the biggest challenges. When they first arrived they tell me from the building you see right here where the fire broke out, they saw flames they saw smoke pouring from the second floor. You also had people on the balconies trying to jump to escape the fire. People on the first and second floor balconies jumped to the safety of

below while those who were on the balconies on the higher floors were aided down by firefighters and ladder trucks. Heres video of what the

looked like as firefighters were putting out the flames. Fire broke out in a second floor apartment in the middle of the night. There were families many with small children running to safety as we said, some had to jump from their balconies to the arms of

below. Everyone inside the building where the fire broke out was evacuated. Fortunately firefighters were able to get them out of the cold. Heres how they did it. We were able to call a bus company at home woke him up sent two
School Busses
over here and able to utilize the school buss to keep the firemen warm and residents out of the weather and keep them warm as well. We saw those busses. Good thing they were out here in the frigid temperatures. Now several people in the apartment that caught on fire they were taken to the hospital. Im told theyre suffering from minor injuries. No firefighters were injured despite the challenge as we said of the extremely cold temperatures. And this building that youre looking at behind me it is empty, it is dark right now, even though a fire broke out in just one apartment, there is extensive damage throughout structural damage. Firefighters tell me. So they have completely evacuated this building. You have dozens of people out of a home right now. The red cross is on scene assisting for many of those people. around midnight in a garage and spread to the attached house. A neighbors house had some heat damage. Everyone did make it out safely. Investigators are still looking for the cause of this one. And investigators will be back at a center city store this morning to try to figure out exactly what caused a part of a building to come crashing into a store hurting three people inside. Officials say bricks fell off the building near 16th and walnut and came crashing through the roof of lululemon next door. The ceiling collapsed on

who were shopping. The women were released from the hospital and city officials tell us the owner of the building hired an engineer and contractor to investigate what caused the brick to fall. The city of philadelphia is investigating. Look at this. This is what we missed out on. People in new england are trying to dig out from the blizzard that dumped more than 20 inches of snow across several states. Theyre dealing with thousands of power outages. They now have temperatures in the low teens with a windchill that makes it feel like near zero. Something were almost experiencing here. And travel is still not completely back to normal at philadelphia international. So far about 75 flights in and out of the airport have been canceled for today.
