let's get our start with meteorologist bill henley with his first alert forecast. morning, bill. >> dress lightly, vai. it is steamy this morning. it was a pretty warm day yesterday and humid. we're starting off warmer this morning. it's going to be a hot afternoon with sunshine for the entire day. right now a little bit of a breeze. that's some of the humidity pushing into the area with a southwesterly wind in philadelphia. not a cooling wind by any means. right now the temperatures currently 77 in philadelphia. allentown is down to 70. 73 in trenton. and wilmington at 74. it's going to be a warm and sticky start at the bus stop this morning. we will see sunshine. 7:00 this morning, 76 with very muggy conditions. and the temperatures only go higher from there. we're looking at readings that will be at the 90-degree mark by lunchtime today with a chance of some late-day storms. jillian mele is watching the traffic this morning. how's it looking out there for the buses? >> it's not too bad. we do have this one accident out of burks county that's been with us for a while this morning. in douglassville, 422 near old swede road, use caution in you're headed in that direction. highways like 95, this is in the midst of that construction zone near gerard avenue. traffic moving just fine in both directions. we have construction on the ben franklin bridge. westbound, one lane blocked. it's creating volume in this area. you might want to leave yourself extra time if you're headed westbound on the ben into philadelphia. that's a camera i'll continue to monitor for you. and this is also really important to note. norristown line, expect track work happening out there today through sunday, says september 14th. inbound service departing from main street, norristown transportation center, conshohocken, spring mill, trains expected to leave five minutes earlier than scheduled. and also all passengers are to board from the outbound platforms between 8:45 and 2:30. again, this is today through september 14th. vai? well, the casino crisis in atlantic city deepens today as revel closes its doors. the resort started the process yesterday, shutting down the hotel side. and right now gamblers are making their final bets. the casino officially closes in less than 30 minutes. nbc 10's jesse gary is live in atlantic city as workers and guests get ready to leave for the very last time. jesse? >> reporter: yeah, vai, i just talked to a gambler who came out of the casino who says they made the announcement that tables close at 6:00. and i talked to management who says by 7:00, everybody's going to be out of the building. ahead of that, just a few moments ago, you can see they put up this yellow chain at the bottom and at the top of the steps that lead to the front door of the casino. so they don't want the press to be on their property at any point beyond now. ahead of the closing. let's take a look at our video. yesterday was the hotel portion of this complex that shut down. those employees made their way out. they will join roughly 6,000 employees in atlantic city who work for hotels and casinos who are now facing a very uncertain future. revel joins a long list -- or a list, showboat, trump plaza, atlantic club that have all closed or are about to close. trump plaza, the next the 16th of this month. we have sound of one of the people inside, a regular customer, who gambles all the time. we'll have that for you in the next half hour as well as the actual closing of this casino. live in atlantic city, jesse gary, nbc 10 news. and revel isn't alone in its financial woes. trump plaza will be the next to go. it closes for good september 16th. showboat shut down yesterday. and the atlantic club closed its doors in january. of course, you can count on nbc 10 for continuing coverage of the casino crisis. we'll be in atlantic city all morning. updating you as the resort wraps up business for good. and on nbc10.com, we're taking a look at the impact on atlantic city's economy and what's next for the casino employees now looking for work. 5:35. new from overnight, a man survived after being shot in the back. this morning police are searching for the gunman wanted in the shooting. it happened at 41st and lancaster in west philadelphia. investigators say at least six shots were fired. the victim is in stable continue. a bucks county community will come together tonight to remember three teens killed over the labor day weekend. nbc 10's reporter joins us live with details on tonight's vigil. matt, tell us more. >> reporter: tracy, this has been an ongoing grieving process since the tragedy over the weekend. council rock south is mourning the loss of three students today. while the school had not yet started, about 400 students and 100 staff members came here yesterday to meet with grief counselors. those three students are colin keffer, shamus digney and ryan lesher. they were killed in a car crash saturday morning. school leaders tell us the teens played soccer, lacrosse and basketball for the school. they met with those teens yesterday. the lesher family tells nbc 10 that ryan was a special young man, and they are deeply devastated by his loss. we also spoke with a council rock superintendent about the somber start to the school year. >> there are no words to speak the loss. and as a school community, we just reach out to the parents and let them know what we're there for them and that we are horribly affected by the loss of these three great kids. >> reporter: and later this morning, freshmen students are starting their first day. those who were killed were sophomores. and the upperclassmen do not start until tomorrow. but those grief counselors will still be here today as more students plan to gather here for a vigil later today at 5:00. live in bucks county this morning, nbc 10 news. and made in america moves on as the cleanup continues on the parkway. we have numbers on this year's attendance and how many people were arrested during the two-day concert. an emotional moment following the phillies' no-hitter. how the team is using their victory to honor one of their own. bill. >> it's going to be a hot one in the city today. that's a live view from south philadelphia. a few high clouds and very high humidity. right now 76 degrees here at nbc 10. we got through the summer with not all that much hot weather, but this week it changes. the humidity is higher, too. you'll certainly feel it this morning. even higher than yesterday. and temperatures will be warmer this afternoon. it's going to be a hot one with readings into the 90s. when you get heat and humidity, thunderstorms can't be far behind. we'll see them later today. right now the numbers are coming down. but not much. 78 degrees in northeast philadelphia. in the middle 70s in millville. 74 degrees and 70 right now in allentown. and look at this. no wind here at nbc 10. so with temperatures cooling down and high humidity, there are a few spots of fog north and west, but most of the area is fog free. we did have some thunderstorms overnight. did you hear them moving through delaware and salem county in new jersey. those have since fizzled. and the next threat of showers and thunderstorms, well, they've got a long way to go. you can see them moving into the midwest across indiana and into western ohio. that's the storm area that is going to be affecting us later today. in fact, the future showers shows these storms will be on the move. and they'll be in western pennsylvania by early this afternoon. we'll be watching for some scattered showers in our area, 2:00. more likely they're going to wait until the evening hours. that's 8:00, we could see heavy downpours in philadelphia. until then, we'll just be watching temperatures go up. 84 degrees this afternoon for mount pocono. 90 in reading and upper 80s for allentown and quakertown. 90s from doylestown through northeast philadelphia and mount holly. and not that much cooler along the coastline. the jersey shore, the beaches will be close to the 90-degree mark. and dover, 94 this afternoon. plenty of sunshine. very high humidity. and storms hold off until late this afternoon and this evening for wilmington, chester and philadelphia. show you how long that heat lasts when i >> good morning. we are following an nx burks county. if you stayed at the jersey shore or delaware beaches, maybe making an early trip home this morning, all of the majors in both states are clear right now. and majors around philadelphia also looking good. this is the vine street expressway. that's the westbound side. as drivers head out to 76. no delays, no accidents to report the entire length of the vine. we still have this construction on the westbound side of the ben franklin bridge as drivers head into philadelphia. that could cause a big jam. i'll be sure to let you know. in douglassville, an accident near old swede road. that's been with us for a while. watch for a delay there. if you are traveling through center city, philadelphia, keep in mind we still have closures kid now. thank you! at a quarter to 6:00, breaking news just into the newsroom. dozens of teens escaped from a jail-like facility in tennessee. >> our chris cato has the latest live from our digital operations center this morning. chris? >> yeah, this is happening near nashville, tennessee, but it's something we're keeping an eye on. it's an interesting story. around 11:00 last night, about 32 teenagers being housed in this youth detention center outside nashville escaped. many of these children are being held there on several felony charges. only a couple of them have been caught. what's happening right now outside of this youth detention center in nashville is several police departments are patrolling, looking for these juveniles that have fled into various neighborhoods. some have been seen hiding in drain pipes and bushes. police have set up a perimeter. again, it houses teens between 14 and 17 who have been convicted of at least three felonies. nothing violent has happened. no suspected attacks at this time. but again, this is a situation that police around nashville are trying to resolve rather quickly. about 30 youth offenders are on the loose after escaping from this youth detention center. we'll continue to keep an eye on it and let you know if anything changes with that situation throughout the morning. live in our digital operations center, chris cato. now to the casino crisis. in 15 minutes, atlantic city's newest casino will officially be closed. here's a look outside revel. the gaming floor shuts down at 6:00 a.m. the hotel closed yesterday. revel is the third casino to shut down this year and trump plaza is scheduled to close september 16th. from nbc 10's south jersey bureau, residents of a burlington county town will be able to express their feelings over a vote to change the name of a local rec center there. council members in willingboro voted last month to change the name of the john f. kennedy center to the barack obama center. feelings have been mixed. the street where the rec center is on will continue to have the name john f. kennedy way. and now to decision 2014. two candidates for new castle county council will go head to head in the primary debate later today. republican mike potak is trying to unseat janet kilpatrick. the debate will be held at the fire center tonight at 6:30. this thursday fast food workers from the area will rally in center city asking for an increase in the minimum wage. yesterday they marched in the 27th annual tri-state labor day parade. the group wants to call attention to its fight for $15 an hour. they also want the right to form a union. in chester county, two congressmen will tour a brewery as they push their bill to help brewers expand operations. jim gurlach will be at the victory brewing company's facility in parksburg. they have proposed a bill that would cut taxes on small brewers across the country. british prime minister david cameron wants to give police the power to seize passports from britons suspected of traveling abroad to fight with terror groups. so he's asking parliament to expand the country's anti-terror laws. cameron also wants to block suspected british jihadi fight frerz re-entering the country. intelligence officials believe that around 500 britons have gone to fight in syria and iraq. and the remains of nine more victims of the malaysia airlines plane that was shot down in ukraine have been returned for burial. honor guards escorted the coffins to special hearses in kuala lumpur. it's expected to be the last bodies to be returned to malaysia. the remaining malaysia passengers are classified as missing. all 298 people on board that flight were killed when the plane was shot down in july. and i cracked windshield forced an american airlines jet to make an emergency landing. the jet took off from l.a.x. airport yesterday. moments later the captain reported a cracked windshield and immediately returned to the airport after a safe landing, passengers and crews were switched to a different plane. the fbi is now stepping in to investigate how those nude photos of some celebrities ended up online. oscar-winning actress jennifer lawrence alerted authorities after first spotting those intimate pictures of herself on sunday. the site also claims it has pictures of kate upton and hope solo. apple says it's investigating any possible tampering on customer icloud accounts. how safe is the cloud? and are your photos safe? a special report coming up later this morning on the "today" show. now, take a look at these incredible pictures from a volcano in iceland. a second eruption on sunday sent rivers of lava flowing for miles. onlookers were able to get up close to the lava streams as they slowly made their way down the mountainside. experts warn this latest eruption could just signal an even bigger one in the coming days. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> we're going to feel the heat in our area as the sun sends the temperatures into the 90s this afternoon. something we fell one degree short of in philadelphia yesterday. clear skies over the city. we're waiting for sunrise. it's about 40 minutes away. bright sunshine. we will see the numbers climb through the 80s and top out in the lower 90s. right now 77 degrees. 84% humidity. running a little bit warmer than yesterday. mainly clear. this is the view from the pocono mountains. this is blue mountain. you see some high clouds in the distance. mainly just sunshine for the mountains. but there are some areas with a bit of fog. light wind, hue humidity and temperatures cooling down. some light fog in the blue bell area. meantime, it's a dense fog for lancaster. quarter-mile visibility there. really no issue for wilmington, philadelphia and northeast philadelphia. trenton has very light fog. just three-mile visibility. sunshine will be nice and bright. no sign of any storms until later this evening for the jersey shore and the delaware beaches. 89 degrees this afternoon along the coast. not as hot tomorrow. 85. humidity comes down some, too, for wednesday. and then cooler at the shore for thursday with a nice southerly breeze blowing. but inland, the temperatures are going to stay higher. and that starts today. hottest day of the week today. with afternoon temperatures into the lower 90s. 93 degrees for philadelphia. no really cooling storms until late this afternoon. and then this evening when we could see heavy downpours in the area. no storms tomorrow, near 90 in the afternoon and then back into the lower 90s for thursday and friday. and the humidity returns friday. and then this weekend, goes even warmer for saturday with storms possible saturday and still some showers sunday. nine minutes before 6:00 right now. if you're heading out, there is an overturned tractor trailer to know about. >> jillian neely in the first alert traffic center with all the details. >> it just happened a few minutes ago. this is happening on the pennsylvania turnpike. the westbound side. the off-ramp to bensalem. that right there is a tractor trailer on its side. you see police are out here. right now as of 5:52, traffic is still able to get by this accident and use this ramp. but at some point i won't be surprised if this ramp has to be completely blocked just so crews can get this thing upright and get it out of there. but for right now traffic can use this ramp. again, pennsylvania turnpike westbound, the bensalem off-ramp. this is something we'll continue to follow for you. the other important thing to note this morning, changes when it comes to the norristown line. you can see that on your screen. track work happening today. through sunday, september 14th. inbound passengers departing from main street and norristown, conshohocken, spring mill, trains expected to leave five minutes earlier than scheduled and passengers boarding from outbound platforms only for a
