we'll see them come down another few degrees before they start a slow climb to the lower 40s this afternoon. clouds, a partly cloudy sky to start with. the clouds will increase as the day goes on but tomorrow we'll see some snow developing for parts of the area. look at the cold pottstown, 29 degrees. 30 in mt. holly. 32 at philadelphia international. but we will see some sunshine to start with. 31 degrees at 7:00. the clouds prevent it from hitting the 40s this morning. but it should happen this afternoon. 38 degrees by lunchtime. your hour-by-hour forecast when i come back in ten minutes. now let's go to traffic reporter jillian mele standing by. good morning to you, jillian. good morning. we'll start you off with a live look at the blue route where things are really quiet so far this morning. the blue route is clear. the entire length in both directions near the mid-county toll plaza. not even a car out there. that's what we are dealing with on a lot of the highways 76 is clear, the blue route is clear and so is 95. no accidentson the majors this morning. in fact, we are not reporting any accidents period. that's good news. chester county drive times are average on route 100, the route 30 bypass is clear and so is 202. traveling in south philadelphia we are dealing with a closure right now on snyder avenue between broad street and 13th streets because of a gas leak. you can take jackson or wolf if you need to get around it. tracy? thanks. we want to update you on breaking news in south philadelphia. within the last hour several homes were evacuated for a gas leak. nbc 10's jesse gary is live on the scene. you have been talking to some of the people pushed out and you have new information. tell us. >> reporter: that is right. just within the last two minutes, we are told that the leak has been fixed. 17 people have been evacuated right now with officials try to get south philadelphia high school open for evacuees for a warm place for them to go while the crews finish their work and finish taking readings. this call came in at 3:00 this morning of natural gas leaking from outside this apartment building here in the 1300 block of snyder. and inside the basement residents we talked to earlier reported waking up to smell natural gas and they were evacuated. crews quickly came here and fixed it within the past 30 minutes. they have fixed it completely now and now they are taking readings to make sure the level initially read at 60% drops below 5% so that people can get back in their homes. another update for you coming up in the next 30 minutes. here live in south philadelphia jesse gary "nbc 10 news." 4:34. more breaking news now. the france premier is saying he will save the two hostages that isis says they will kill unless they receive a students at penn and drexel is expected in court. james barrett is scheduled for a formal arraignment this morning arrested in early december after officers caught him assaulting a penn student on the street. they think he's connected to four other attacks. and the trial of john hol hollison takes the stand today, he'll talk about being accused of selling $340,000 in bogus sports packages to benefit charities that never got the money. and today the president's family will attend services for the woman murdered at her bus stop in north philadelphia last week. the viewing for kim jones is scheduled for today with her wake to immediately follow. there's $20,000 to offer information leading to her killer. she was shot in the back of the head while waiting for a bus last tuesday. a new clue has emerged in the decade's old cold case. and also new this morning, a man is killed trying to protect a woman at a mall in florida. we are now learning that he's a well-known chef from new help to solve a murder mystery dating back more than 40 years. investigators are trying to find this girl whose remains were found along the garden state parkway back in 1971. they are trying to find out what happened to her. galloway police put this picture on their website to show the watch that was found many years ago. investigators still don't know who she is. and jury selection is set to begin today for the man chargeded in one of the deadliest mass u.s. shootings in u.s. history. james holmes admitted to the attack inside the aurora movie theater leaving 12 people dead and 7 injured in 2012. he's pleaded insanity. today the jury selection will begin in the trial of a burkes county man accused of killing his wife nearly a decade ago. miguel torres is accused of killing his wife barbara back in 2005. he ambushed her in an apartment. authorities arrested him in italy in 2013. he was extradited to the u.s. and prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty. new information in the search for a driver wanted in a hit and run in camden county. a woman turned herself into authorities last night. police posted pictures of this vehicle involved in the crash hoping someone would recognize hit. a 10-year-old girl was hit on the way to school that morning and she is recovering. and this balloon launch in west california is part of a tribute to a murdered teenager. last night mourners gathered to remember the 14-year-old. police charged a 16-year-old classmate of stabbing the girl just blocks from the west philadelphia high school. and there was a dispute at school, they believe, that led to the stabbing. >> they took my baby away from me away from me. >> about 200 people attended last night's vigil. we have new information now about reports of a 4-year-old boy whose wheelchair was stolen. brookhaven police say someone stole nicholas's wheelchair yesterday afternoon. he suffers from epilepsy and his mother vicky says the expensive wheelchair was last seen in her driveway on commerce avenue. police believe that the thief intends to scrap the wheelchair for cash. the chair is valued at $2200. >> if it shows up on our doorstep anonymously, that would be wonderful. we just want it back. >> after that story aired at 11:00 last night, a lot of people contacted us about replacing the wheelchair for the family. we put some information on our website the band and tweaking it a little bit. i'm not aluieu lowing you to know that this is a minor repair. a florida woman escaped with minor injuries after she passed out behind the wheel of her car. >> this is a remarkable outcome considering the craziness of the crash caught on video. so we get to see what happened. you can be driving up to 60-mile-an-hour here. the woman began having fainting episodes recently but was cleared by her doctor to drive. on to deflate gate now. the new eng england patriots will fully cooperate with the nfl as the league investigates whether the team tampered closing of a popular pharmacy. today dozens will rally outside the giant food store pharmacy. they plan to shut down the pharmacy on main street as well as the supermarket. nearly 80 workers at that location will be offered jobs at surrounding stores. this morning there's a controversy in a burlington county school district over a state mandated test. we received an e-mail from many in burlingtop county who are refusing to allow their student to take the standardized test. however the school is making those students who don't take the test anyway to sit in the room for the duration of the test. parents are speaking out against the desist and fair policy. and chilean's president michelle basalet will be here today to discuss trade. this is important from the south american country. people who use new jersey transit should have a quieter ride starting today. the agency announced it is expanding the quiet commute program to the philadelphia run line. new jersey transit officials say they decided to offer the quiet commute cars after getting feedback from customers. the cars are geared toward passengers looking for a calm people environment and want silence on their electronics. it runs between 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays. it's the first car traveling to philadelphia and the last car on southbound trains traveling to at listenlantic city in case you're keeping up with this on home. seating is on a first-come first-serve basis. a man is expected to rise from the ashes as crews begin to tear down part of the farmer's market. the fire marshall's office says the cause is undetermined and we may never know and never find out how this got started. the owners are planning a comeback to make the time pass. and doctors performed surgery on conjoined twins last month. now another procedure will attempt to separate the girls. the babies have not left the hospital since being born. now doctors are awaiting for their tiny organs to be strong enough to go back people who use new jersey transit should have a quieter ride starting today. the agency announced it is expanding the quiet commute program to the philadelphia run line. new jersey transit officials say they decided to offer the quiet commute cars after getting feedback from customers. the cars are geared toward passengers looking for a calm people environment and want silence on their electronics. it runs between 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays. it's the first car traveling to philadelphia and the last car on southbound trains traveling to at listenlantic city in case you're keeping
