Last night, dozens turned out for a candlelight vigil in honor of officers rafael ramos and wenjian liu. They were killed saturday as they sat in their squad car in brooklyn. Investigators say the suspect, ismaaiyl brinsley, told people on the street to watch what im going to do in the moments before the shootings. On his instagram page, he wrote they take one of ours, lets take two of theirs. Authorities believe brinsley was motivated by rage toward the Police Following the recent grand jury decisions in the eric garner and Michael Brown cases. Philadelphia Police CommissionerCharles Ramsey is speaking out after those deadly shootings in new york. He was recently named cochair of president obamas task force on 21stcentury policing. Nbc 10s katy zachry is live just outside of Police Headquarters in center city with more on what the commissioner is now asking of his officers following this latest violence against police. Katy . Reporter hi, rosemary. Commissioner ramsey is asking his officers here in philadelphia to be vigilant, measured and not overreact. He tells us that is exactly how a group of officers reacted in north philadelphia this weekend when a gunman showed up at a bar on cottman avenue and began firing shots toward police. Without firing back, he tells us officers were able to take the gunman into custody and no Police Officers were injured. Commissioner ramsey tells us he has been concerned about the protests in recent weeks and the Ripple Effect they could have. We do have some violent people, and it doesnt take very much to have them go off. So, i was concerned that it could trigger a very negative response on the part of a very few, and here we are now with this tragedy. New from overnight in camden, investigators are looking for the cause of a fire at a halfway house. Flames broke out in the building along magnolia avenue around 11 30 last night. Everybody made it out okay and there are no reports of any injuries. This Morning Police in Montgomery County are looking for two masked men armed with guns who robbed a 7eleven overnight. Nbc 10 was there as police searched for clues at 54th and city avenue in lower merion township. Officers told us the men held up the store around 12 30 this morning. One worker was injured during the robbery. His injuries, though, are minor. It is 4 35. Happening today, Souderton Area High School will hold a vigil for two of the victims of last weeks killing spree in Montgomery County. Ninth grader nina flick was killed. Per 17yearold brother, anthony flick, a junior at the high school, was seriously injured. Hes the only survivor of the attack. Police say the violence happened in three locations, harleysville, lansdale and souderton. Members of four generations of one family were killed. The murders sparked a manhunt for former military veteran brad stone. Police say stone killed his exwife, her mother, grandmother, sister, brotherinlaw and niece. His body was found two days later about a half mile from his house in hanover township. He had cuts to his body, but authorities have not released the cause of death. There is a new clue to report in the disappearance of shane montgomery. Divers searching the Schuylkill River yesterday found a set of keys belonging to the missing West Chester University student. The 21yearold disappeared early thanksgiving morning after leaving a bar on main street in manayunk. Last night, st. John the Baptist Church in manayunk held its Tree Lighting in honor of shane. People decorated the tree with green ribbons as a symbol of hope for answers in shanes disappearance. The time right now is 4 36. Now, that was in baltimore, and the police there sent this alert to the nypd, warning that brinsley was in their area and threatening police. This came out within an hour of the officers being shot. The Police Cruiser of officer charles condac was wrapped in a black band and parked in front of a station in tarpon springs. Yesterday, Community Members dropped by to drop off flowers. Investigators say the officers death over the weekend has no connection to the ambush killings in new york city. According to police, the suspect, Marco Antonio priya jr. Was trying to evade a warrant when he shot the officer and ran him over with his car. Pereira was arrested after crashing into a pole. The officer was a father of five. The standoff is over. A man who barricaded himself inside his California Home over the weekend was killed in a shootout with police. Authorities say the man sprayed his girlfriend with mace. She then ran out of the house and called 911 for help. According to police, the man began shooting when officers arrived. Soon after, flames and smoke poured from the home. It is 4 48 and 33 degrees outside. Happening today, a Pretrial Hearing is scheduled in the murder case against former nfl player aaron hernandez. The hearing is expected to focus on jury issues. Jury selection is scheduled to start early next month. Hernandez is facing charges in the killing of a semipro Football Player who was dating his fiancees sister. That fiancee is also due in court today, charged with perjury in the case. Prosecutors say she lied to a grand jury during the investigation. Her lawyers filed a motion to suppress, which means they want certain evidence thrown out. Florida state quarterback Jameis Winston has been cleared of accusations that he violated the schools student code of conduct. That ruling came yesterday. The accusations stem from an alleged Sexual Assault two years ago. Officials said there was just not enough evidence in the case. A bizarre scene in tampa over the weekend. Seven fans were injured after lightning struck a car right outside the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stadium. Fire Officials Say some of those fans were knocked right to the ground.
