New information now on the breaking news we have been following overnight. Police are now telling us that homicide detectives are now investigating the case of a man who shot and killed someone who he says was trying to break into his apartment. Nbc 10 katy zachary. Katy, do they have some doubts about this mans story or is this standard procedure . Police who i talked to in the last ten minutes are looking into several different possibilities into what happened here late last night. For one, the man who broke into the apartment could have been an intruder, they are also looking into the possibility that he may have been dating a 20yearold daughter who also lived inside this apartment. Police were called to the home Circle Apartments around 11 30 for a shooting. It happened inside a second floor apartment. Preliminarily it says the 32yearold man broke into a rear window and was shot by the man who lived in this apartment with his 20yearold daughter. But now police are telling me it is also possible the intruder was dating the mans daughter and she may have let him into the apartment. Either way, the 32yearold victim, he was shot. He was shot once in the head. Heres what else police are saying about what happened. There possibly may have been a struggle. However, we know that the 41yearold male fired one shot striking the 32yearold victim in the head one time. The victim who has not been identified died from his injuries a short time ago. Homicide detechives have now taken over the case. They will be interviewing the 41yearold man. The man who shot the alleged intruder, as well as his 20yearold daughter and police say it will be up to homicide detectives to determine if this shooting was justified. A preliminary hearing is scheduled today for a philadelphia man who is accused of shooting four people. 43yearold Leonard Hamdoon is charged with murder and assault. Investigators say a short time later a gunman opened fire hitting an unintended victim in the leg and injuring three innocent bystanders. One of those victims is a father who was shot in the head as his wife and children were in the car. 4 37. Happening nod, it is do or die for a new cigarette tax to help philadelphia Public Schools as pennsylvania lawmakers work today on getting that bill to a vote. The rules committee is scheduled to meet this morning to address the cigarette tax ahead of a vote which is scheduled for tomorrow. If it is passed, it will generate 80 million a year for the school district. Officials say they need that revenue from the 2 per pack tax to start flowing into the district by october 1st.
