People in the nakeighborhood ha been evacuated or are inside their home in lockdown. Schools are under a shelter in police. People tell me theyre worried about their safety. Officers stormed the cafe just within the last hour. Police are not releasing any other details. It is unclear if anyone, including the gunman, was injured, but people were seen being brought out of the cafe on stretchers. Up to ten hostages escaped before police stormed in. The motive of this attack is also unclear, but police have identified the gunman as an iranianborn man and two hostages did hold up a flag that has often been used by islamic extremists. Reporter tracy, this was a Police Involved shooting over in mayfair earlier this morning, but the family of Brandon Tate Brown devastated by this death. You see them standing on the porch here in the 5200 block. His mother told me the last time she saw her son was at the conclusion of the eagles game last night. Im talking because i want people to see from my eyes that he was a good guy. Reporter Tonya Dickerson says her 26yearold son had a jovial spirit despite a difficult past. Brandon tate brown spent five years in prison for beating another man but since his release family members say he had gotten a job with hertz rental cars and recently moved into his own apartment. Earlier this morning tate brown was killed in an officer involved shooting in mayfair. Investigators say two 15th district officers pulled him over for driving this dodge rental with no headlights. They also noticed a handgun wedged inside the front seat and console. Now, they ordered him out of the car, and that escalated into a fight. Police say tate brown then ran back to the car, reached for the gun that was wedged in between the Center Console and passenger seat prompting one of the officers to fire. I would like to know why the police, law enforcement, has the right to kill instead of disabling . It has to stop. This is enough already. Dickerson and her family say they have already contacted the naacp to help with an external investigation. The officers involved in this Police Involved shooting are on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. One of the officers was transported to a hospital. Hes in stable condition. He suffered a stress attack after this incident. The family very dubious about the report, at least the early one, from police that their son was driving with no headlights on a rental car and that is what prompted the police stop.
