Hagel released details during his unannounced visit to afghanistan today. Hagel says that some rs and nonamerican hostage was murdered during a raid led by u. S. Special forces. President obama ordered the investigation. They identify the second hostage as teacher from south africa. In terms of luke somers. Hes 33 years old kidnapped last year. On thursday of this week al qaeda posted a video showing somers and threatened to kill him if the u. S. Did not meet their demands. Earlier this morning president obama issued this statement. It reads in part, the United States strongly condemns the barbaric murder of luke somers at the hands of al qaeda terrorists during a rescue operation conducted by u. S. Two people are hurt after this car accident in philadelphias east falls neighborhood. This is a live look. This is on lincoln drive near gypsy lane. Police tell us three cars collided here just a short time ago. Both victims were taken to Temple University hospital. Theres no word on their conditions yet. Were told that lincoln drive is closed in both directions between gypsy lane and writtenhouse street. New from overnight, Philadelphia Police say a driver was under the influence at the time of this deadly crash on roosevelt boulevard. The accident happened near fwbe net rode around 12 30 this morning. The driver struck and killed a 40yearold man who was walking along the road. The driver did stay at the scene and is under arrest. Authorities tell us charges are pending. Police in montgomery countying are investigating a deadly hit and run. Bridgeport police say a man was trying to cross the road at ram who and ford treats around 1 10 when he was hit by a black ford explorer. The driver initially stopped but then took off. After that a second vehicle, a green cadillac or lincoln suv, struck the victim and also left the scene. The man died at the hospital. Also new from overnight, a house fire in kensington is under investigation. Nbc10 was on this scene on jasper street where the blaze broke out around 2 00 this morning. Crews had it under control within several minutes. No one on the scene was hurt but a battalion chief got into an accident on his way to the fire. His vehicle collided with a car several blocks from the fire. Its unclear if the chief was hurt. Police say the woman driving the other car involved did not have a license. She went to the hospital but police have not said how seriously she was injured. Now to the search for missing College StudentShane Montgomery. Family and friends are not giving up hope on day ten of the search. A reward for information in the case is up to 40,000. Nbc10s Monique Braxton is live in manayunk where the 21yearold disappeared. The 21yearold was last seen here along main street. On thanksgiving morning. We were with the search team when they walked along south street handing out and posting fliers last night. College students come home and reunite with friends on thanksgiving eve. Shanes mom told us she had recently turned 21. It was his first time out. We also followed the road to manayunk where shanes roommate carried a sign. Shapes mom tells us there is now a new focus on this investigation. The authorities are now looking for southeast. If anybody was on main street that evening taking selfies in the couple of places that shane was, picks pub, kildares to see if they can find shane on any of the selfies so we get a better timeline about where he went. According to the bar tab, shane had a few beers at kildares pub before he bumped into the deejays table. He was asked to leave just before 2 00 thanksgiving morning. Investigators say jeaninne lepage shot 14yearold, 11yearold, and 8yearold inside their house in tabernacle last month. Lepage then shot herself. She later died in the hospital. Police have not commented on a motnmotive in this case. Theres new information this morning in the Court Proceedings for accused cop killer eric frein. The hearing is not scheduled for january 5th. It was supposed to be this tuesday. Frein is charged with shooting two Pennsylvania State troopers in the poconos in september. He accused of killing one of them. Police arrested frein after vrts say he led them into a manhunt in late october. If convicted he faces the death penalty. Police in south jersey will resume an investigation into the shooting of local rapper beanie sigel. Right now 40yearold sigel is in Critical Condition following surgery. The rappers real name is dwight grant. Last night police told us they found a honda min many any van they were looking for in connection to the shooting but its unclear if they have any other leads. According to investigators, the gunfire broke out sometime during a fight at sigels house yesterday morning. Sig sigels brotherinlaw was hurt but not shot. Sigel who is from south philadelphia had been on probation. Officials released him from federal prison in august after he served two years for tax evasion. Sigels probation is set to end today. Investigators say revenge is the reason a woman torched her neighbors home in montgomery county. Her neighbor happens to be a police detective. According to police donna krupp blamed detective ernie morris for her sons arrest in june. Investigators say she was convinced that morris told state police where to find her son who had an active warrant. According to investigators krupp started the fire at morris home in lower pots grow ive township thursday morning while he and his family were away on vacation. Police in los angeles say they will investigate claims that bill cosby molested a woman when she was 15 years old. Judy huth and her lawyer Gloria Allred met with detectives last night. Huth is claiming that cosby forced her to perform a sex act on him at the playboy mansion in 1974. While more than a dozen women have accused cosby of sexual assault, the comedian has never been charged with a crime. The adopted son of Jerry Sandusky is on a mission to stop child abuse. Yesterday Matt Sandusky told a conference in philadelphia that child abuse is the single worst Health Epidemic facing children. He says his biological father physically abused him, then his adoptive father Jerry Sandusky, sexually abused him.
