Thomas thomas aquinas. These folks are not going away quietly. Neither are the other parishes who are taking their fight to the archbishop. For five decades the music has filled the halls and pews of notre dame dahlde lourdes. Five decades of prayers and masses will end. Its a very hard time. Im having a hard time keeping my emotions under control. Its home and its like losing your home. Reporter notre dame is one of 16 parishes that will close and merge with others. The diocese says the mergers will save resources and boost sustainability in the church. I think the process is really flawed. Reporter parishioner says he supports the diocese. How hopeful are you that this is going to be overturned . Were somewhat hopeful but the archdiocese really doesnt give us much hope. Reporter since mergers began with other parishes in 2010, no others have been overturned. I just dont believe the archdiocese has good christian men filled with the holy spirit that they can continue with this decision. Reporter for now, though, preparations for the merging continues. The 16 closing parishes will become worship sites for special events and funerals. For its final day notre dame is holding a funeral, almost fitting, some say, given the circumstances. Doctors have new technology in the fight against Breast Cancer and Research Shows it could save lives. As our correspondent reports, some are calling it a gamechanger. Reporter 54yearold sandy weeks is a Breast Cancer survivor so she never misses a checkup and she relies on a relatively new technology, the 3d mammogram. Its your lifeline. Without that Early Detection or without finding it, you wouldnt know and you could be literally dying. Reporter radiologist doctor led a threeyear study and found women that got both the 2d and 3 daytona mammogram had more accurate results than patients who got just the traditional screening test. 3d mammograms can potentially pick up smaller invasive cancers that are invisible on a 2d mammogram. These are the ones outside the milk duct and theyre potentially concerning and lethal. Reporter she says a more accurate test means fewer false positive results. It gets about a dozen different images from multiple angles at the same time as a mammogram and radiologists get extra information. We look at the breast at onemillimeter slice thicknesses.
