Happening right now, the norris town high speed line is shut down because a tree fell on the tracks here. Here is a live look at crews who had been working to remove that tree. This is near the parkview station. If our photographer can pan over, you can see they already did push that tree off to the side of the tracks. Shuttle bus service is available for riders between ridertown and 69th street. We will keep you posted. Also new from overnight, investigators are looking into what caused a house fire in philadelphia. Nbc 10 was on north lindenwood street in the haddington section of the city where the flames broke out around 10 30 last night. 11 people made it out safely. The American Red Cross is helping those people this morning. After todays eagles game, protesters planned to block broad and pattison streets in south philadelphia. Theyll be holding a solidarity diein, similar to the ones you see right here. The demonstrators are planning to lie down as a way to express their frustration over the grand jury decisions not to indict Police Officers in the deaths of eric garner in new york and Michael Brown in ferguson, missouri. Across the country, two Police Officers were hurt. Officials say demonstrators flew things at the police in berkley last night. The two officers suffered minor injuries. Police used tear gas and smoke bombs to clear the crowd. They were there because they were angered by those grand jury decisions. Officials say the demonstrators also smashed windows and looted businesses. Despite the damage, there are no reports of any arrests. Things were a little bit more peaceful in other cities across the country yesterday. Thousands took to the streets from new york to marietta, georgia, for a fourth straight day. Theyre calling attention to what they say is excessive use of force by police. As i mentioned, there will be protesters at the Sports Complex in south philly today. They wont be the only ones targeting the eagles crowd to spread their message. The effort to find missing College Student shane victorimoy will head to the link. Montgomery was last seen at a manayunk bar 11 days ago. His family and friends say theyre not giving up their search. A reward for information is now up to 50,000. In are fliers and ribbons posted all over town. The family says volunteers will be passing out the leaflets with shanes information at the link as early as 11 00 this morning. Authorities tell us a Lehigh Valley man shot and killed his stepdaughter Jessica Padgett because of an alleged desire to have sex with her corpse. Police arrested gregory graph on charges of homicide and abuse of a corpse. Hes being held without bail. Authorities say grandfather confessed to killing Jessica Padgett. She was 33 years old. Padgett was last seen leaving her daycare job in North Hampton last month. Police found her car at a Dollar General store about a mile away. Authorities charged her stepfather after investigators say they found padgetts body buried on his property in North Hampton county. Now to some news in delaware. The city of wilmington has tied its alltime record for homicides after another deadly shooting friday night. The killing was the 27th in wilmington this year. That ties the record set in 2010. Police say they found two men shot on west 6th street and a third victim nearby. One of them whos been identified at 23yearold jean malone died at the hospital. This morning, investigators in philadelphia are trying to identify a man whose body was found in north philly. A neighbor discovered the man on the 2400 block of north sidenhan street around 8 30. The man had been shot and stabbed. Authorities believe he may have been dumped at that location. Theyre now investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. This weekend in burlington county, friends and family are remembering the three children murdered by their mother. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon in tabernacle. Investigators say janine la page shot 8yearold nadia, 11yearold alexander, and 14yearold Nicolas Harriman inside their house last month. La page then shot herself. Two of the children died at the scene and la page and alexander died later at the hospital. In Atlantic City, a veteran firefighter is now suspended without pay after police say that he showed a teenage girl lewd pictures of himself. The suspect has been a fire captain since 2008 and a member of that Fire Department for more than 20 years. Police in los angeles may need hugh hefners help to invest get a womans claim that she was sexually assaulted by bill cosby at the playboy mansion. Judith hughes is suing cosby for the alleged attack in 1974. Law Enforcement Forces tell tmz they need to determine if they were even at the mansion. Cosby says she is a liar who tried to sell her story to the tabloids ten years ago. Cosby, by the way, has never been charged with a crime. Today, ceremonies are planned all across the country and here in our area to mark a fateful day in the history of the United States. People will gather aboard the battleship new jersey to remember pearl harbor day. A ceremony like this one will begin at 8 00. A memorial wreath will be cast into the Delaware River and taps will be played. Today, by the way, is the 73rd anniversary of the attack on pearl harbor. It was on this day in 1941 that japanese war planes attacked the home port of the u. S. Pacific fleet. About 2,400 americans were killed and another 1,200 were wounded. It was a day that, as president Franklin Roosevelt put it, would live in infamy. Because of the attack, the United States entered world war ii. This morning, the white house is vowing justice for the terrorists who murdered american hostage luke somers during a failed u. S. Raid in yemen. U. S. Officials say somers and a South African hostage were killed by al qaeda militants. Al qaeda kidnapped somers last year. The Officials Say more than three dozen special forces members, including navy seals, took part in yesterdays raid that was ordered by president obama. They landed about two miles away from the objective and then infiltrated to try to keep the element a surprise. But once the firefight started, it would appear that al qaeda then shot the two hostages. I dont think the government had an option. I think president obama did the right thing. He went in and tried to save this poor fellows life. Somers was a photo journalist who was born in britain, but went to college in wisconsin. U. S. Officials say some al qaeda militants died in the raid, but no u. S. Service members were injured. Outgoing defense secretary chuck hagel says the u. S. Will keep a larger force in afghanistan in early 2015 than initially planned. Hagel made the announcement during a surprise visit to kabul yesterday. There, he met with the afghan president and u. S. Military commanders. Hagel says the u. S. Force will top 10,000 troops. Thats about a thousand more than first announced. Students in mexico city are protesting the abduction of 43 trainee teachers, and now one of their deaths has been confirmed. Youre looking at the latest demonstration. This was yesterday. Authorities have identified the charred remains of one of the Student Teachers kidnapped in september. Officials believe that the abducted trainees were handed over to a drug gang by corrupt police. Back in the u. S. , in north jersey, the Prosecutors Office is investigating the cause of a Carbon Monoxide leak that killed two people inside of a Recording Studio and sickened 12 others. Police were called to the building yesterday afternoon and found the two people dead on the second floor. Authorities say the other victims were confused and choke as they tried to leave the building. They were treated at area hospitals. Police in florida now have a man in custody whom they say killed his wife, her friend and their pastor. Officers arrested andy avalos yesterday at a Mobile Home Park on the gulf coast. Hes charged with murder. That area is about a mile away from the church where the pastor was found shot to death on thursday. The bodies of the suspects wife and the neighbor were found in the avaloss home. Take a look at this video. This is new video of a coast guard crew air lifting a sick passenger off of a cruise ship. It was just off the north californian coast. A woman got an unexpected house guest last night. This deer burst through her front door. It darted through and wept into the bathroom. The woman was able to lock it inside the bathroom until police arrived, and as police put it, there was a brief standoff with the deer but officers were able to escort the animal from the home and they released it back into the wild. Tasty yummy we have some new information this morning on the typhoon that hit the philippines this weekend. We have now learned of two confirmed deaths from typhoon hagupit. The storm, as you see, caused evacuations, toppled trees and knocked out power. The storm also destroyed some buildings and flooded streets, but it didnt cause nearly as much devastation as last years deadly typhoon, typhoon haiyan. Officials say this typhoon is now weakening and moving away from the philippines. This is what nearly two feet of fresh snow looks like. This video comes to us from the california side of lake tahoe. North korea is denying that it was behind a cyber attack on Sony Pictures. A report says that leak on to the internet involved thousands of Social Security numbers, including those of actors like Sylvester Stallone and rebel wilson. They also released several Sony Pictures online, some not released in theaters. The u. S. Is among seven countries that now have ktrade restrictions on canadian poultry because of the bird flu. Remmington agreed to replace the trigger on its popular model 700 rifles. They were made between may 2006 and april of this year.
