A doctor is being tested for ebola after working in west africa. Doctor Craig Spencer was rushed to bell view hospital today. The patient was with the Group Doctors without borders in ebola infected countries. Health Department Says spencer has a 103 degree fever. The cdc is ready to send a team in if necessary. Nbc 10 also has new information on how local Health Officials are handling this ebola virus. Bucks county telling us theyre now monitoring three people who recently traveled to the outbreak zone in west africa. Officials saying theyre not showing symptoms and they dont believe they were exposed to the virus during their travels. However, bucks county decided to monitor them based on new guidelines from the cdc. The agency announcing yesterday that any traveler returning from liberia, sierra leone, or guinea must now be monitored for 21 days. This expanded screening will begin in six states including pennsylvania and new jersey. Of course, theres a lot of discussion about ebola, but its the season for flu. Pennsylvania has nearly 100 reported cases. The season just began a few weeks ago. Efforts to spread awareness of the virus and provide free immunization now under way. Nbc 10 in thorndale today. Chester county supervisors and Health Officials not only talked about free flu shots but got a shot in their own arms to bring awareness to the start of flu season. Last year, 28,000 cases of flu reported in pennsylvania. 131 people died in the state due to flu complications. Here in a session of state lawmakers and Health Officials in king of prussia, a Lehigh Valley mother talked about her 15yearold sons death as a result of the flu. Thats the hard part because it was my decision not to get him vaccinated, and as a mom, i will always live with that. State Health Officials tell nbc 10 this years flu vaccine covers several strains of influenza. Its recommended for everyone 6 months and older to get vaccinated. 25 days have now passed since the mysterious deaths of a local Hospital Executive and his wife, and after nearly a month, investigators still not revealing what really happened. Now sources told nbc 10 news they heard reports about what may have caused the couples death. Reporter the Somerset CountyProsecutors Office is a lead agency on the sheridan death investigation. While they initially told us they would provide preliminary autopsy results in the days immediately following their deaths, we have yet to receive them. Prosecutors in Somerset County continue to lean on the fact that autopsy lab results are not yet complete and neighbors not in any danger when we ask for answers as to how and why john and Joyce Sheridan died inside the bedroom of their own home. Makes me think that if he committed suicide, he could have done something to my daughter and that could be the reason for his suicide. They seem happy. She was happy.
