So any precipitation would just be rain and not especially heavy either. A few clouds coming through the ohio valley in our direction. Thats about it. Were in the mid40s to low 40s in some areas. Clear skies and light winds. The temperatures starting to drop. 39 degrees in mt. Pocono and down to 40 in millville. Some places will get into the 20s tonight but then its late december. Its supposed to be pretty cold at night. So in the city of philadelphia itself, well be seeing temperatures drop through the 40s and into the upper 30s by 11 00 tonight. It will be closer to the 30 degree mark in some of the suburbs. Now, what well be watching as we head through the weekend is c front coming in with some rain and well have the timing on that with the rest of the sevenday forecast. Of course that does include new years eve and new years day in just a few minutes. Skyforce 10 over a bus accident on the roosevelt boulevard in philadelphias germantown neighborhood this afternoon. 23 students were on board. They were okay but police say the driver was burned by wires inside the bus. And thats what caused him to lose control and hut a pole. He is at temple hospital. Cell phone video shows the damage on the front of that bus, crews shut down all the northbound lanes of the boulevard while they cleared that wreck. Philadelphia homicide detective credited with arrested convicted cop killer Mumia Abujamal. He joined the Defenders Association for 18 years. He was 73 years old. He was the one who arrested Mumia Abujamal for the murder of Police Officer david faulkner. He gave a speech to a Vermont College via audio recording prompting protests. Abujamal is serving a life sentence. Happening now, mourners are gathering to remember one of the two Police Officers shot and killed last weekend. Nbc 10s Jim Rosenfield is following that story live from our digital operations center. Jim . Jacqueline and keith, people are paying their respects to officer rafael ramos in queens at this hour. Officers carried his casket into the church where his wake is being held. Fellow officers saluted as well as the casket passed by. Officer ramoss funeral will be held tomorrow. Ramos and his partner, wenjian liu were ambushed as they sat in their patrol car. The gunman then took his own life. Officer ramos was studying to be a pastor at the church where tonights wake is being held. We love rafael ramos. He was a gift to our church. We loved his faithfulness and the way that he served people. Were going to miss him a great deal. After tonights wake, mourners are expected to spill into the streets outside the church to hear speakers eulogize officer ramos. The Philadelphia Police department is sending representatives to the officers funerals in new york. The Department Tells us offduty philadelphia officers may attend on their own as well. And Vice President joe biden will be among those at tomorrows funeral. Officer lius funeral arrangements havent been announced yet. Lius widow wept today as a foundation announced it would pay off her home mortgage. Its paying off the home mortgages of both officers. Were not just going to take over their payments, we want to pay their mortgages off in full, so they dont have that burden or that worry, because they have enough to go through. Former new york city mayor Rudy Giuliani was there for todays announcement. Hes donating 20,000 to this effort. We know on this day back in 2004, Jessica Watson and matthew masarado were shot executionstyle while working at this casual male big and tall store in wilmington. Their killer has not been caught. Their families still hold out hope that will change. I want the people or the persons responsible for taking these two young peoples lives to be brought to justice. The Delaware State Police are looking for any tips on the case and are taking them on the delaware Crime Stoppers hot line. Right now police are questioning a man who they believe crashed a pickup truck into a bucks county house overnight. A 93yearold woman inside the house died just hours after the crash in levittown. The crash caused heavy damage on the Southwest Corner of that home. Jenny russo was lying in her bed near the point of impact. She was on hospice and died a few hours later. Russos son showed us the damage inside the bedroom. Police located the pickup truck involved in that accident. The driver turned himself in. A legal victory for tom corbett. Today a judge approved his administrations bid to take over the York City School district and place it in receivership. This decision gives more authority to a stateappointee to make the public School District the first in the state to be turned into privatelyrun charter schools. A lawyer for york schools says he is appealing that decision. Days of frantic searching for a missing young boy comes to a tragic end. A 4yearold Jayden Morrisons body was found today. Where police made the tragic find and what they believe happened when the boy vanished. A scare at the movies. People flocked to the theater to see the interview and stage a symbolic protest against north korea. Something happened during a new jersey showing that sent moviegoers running for the exit. And more proathletes are getting iced by the pumps. Next we have new information about the health scare hitting the nhl. The body of a missing 4yearold has been found in a pond in south carolina. The body of Jayden Morrison was found in a pond three days after officials began searching for him. The 4yearolds family was visiting from new york when he disappeared wednesday night. Jayden was under the watch of his grandmother when she said she believed he walked out the front door. The pond was a few feet from the home. He was a twin two had special needs and did not speak. They sleep together, even though they each have their own twin size bed, they sleep in the same bed. I start them off in their own bed. I check, theyre like this. They sleep together. He doesnt have his brother. Police do not suspect foul play in the boys death. Four bodies have been pulled from the debris of an ohio home that caught fire while three children were visiting their grandmother. The flames broke out early this morning destroying the home in washington courthouse, 40 miles outside columbus. Police had havent released the identity of the victims. Investigators havent figured out what caused the fire. A Christmas Dayt aq that destroyed two famous toronto restaurants. The flames erupted last night in this building which houses two restaurants. Both were closed at the time so no one was hurt. The cause of the fire hasnt been determined. The restaurants are city landmarks and are known as goto spots for celebrities during the Toronto International film festival. A mother risked her life to get her 2yearold child out of a burning home in massachusetts. She had just put her son into his crib a few minutes before midnight on Christmas Eve when she noticed the fire. It spread quickly. The mother ran outside, smashed a window and then crawled in to rescue her son. Although the cause of the fire is unknown, the fire chief says a Christmas Tree caused the flames to spread so quickly. Keep everything away from them. They dry out over time and then any flame, they go up an they will engulf your room. Theres nothing in your home that burns as hot as a Christmas Tree. The parents and the baby were taken to a hospital, all are expected to be okay. The home was destroyed. In southern thailand, officials held a religious ceremony to mark the opening of the tsunami memorial park. It 2350features the portrait of son of the a Thai Princess who died in that tsunami. Other countries also held memorials today. Indonesias Vice President led a ceremony in an area where at least 168,000 people were killed. It has nothing to do with mocking mr. Gardners death whatsoever. That officer, he was just doing his job. Evidently he did it by the book. Those words have been turned around. The man robbed a pnc bank in the glenside section of sheldonham township this afternoon. They believe hes also responsible for four recent robberies and two aemed it robberies in philadelphia. The search is on for these two men wanted for an Armed Robbery in philadelphias yorktown neighborhood. Police say on monday the two men walked into the Little Caesars pizza on west girard avenue. One of them had a gun. They kicked and punched an employee when he could not open a safe. South jersey bureau, the mayor of a Gloucester County time is facing drunk driving charges. Paulsboro mayor w. Jeffrey hamilton was arrested last saturday following a traffic stop in nearby woolrich township. Officers were responding to a 911 call to an erratic drive r. Andrew specht collapsed while working at his parttime job one week ago today. He was a gift to our church. Reporter last saturday, officers rafael ramos and wenjian liu were shot and killed as they sat in their patrol car. An assassination, city leaders said, targeted because of their uniforms. The suspect, 28yearold Ismaaiyl Brinsley turned the gun on himself a short time later. In the days that have followed, hundreds visited the makeshift memorial at the place the officers died. Wenjian lius family laid wreaths, one for each officer. The tunnel to Towers Foundation announced its plan to help the families of the fallen officers. Were not just going to take over their payments, we want to pay their mortgages off in full. Now as we compare december last year with december this year, the temperatures are higher, even december last year had above average temperatures. And that brutal winter we had, it was 11 inches of snow, though, compared to barely enough to measure this december. At least so far. Things will start off cold in january. For the temperatures now, were in the 40s, 40 degrees in millville, one of the cold spots. 39 in the poconos. Not much wind. So theres no significant wind chill. We have high clouds coming in from ohio and in west virginia. Snow in the middle of the country. Some rain down south. Thats all associated with the next front thats going to be coming in. Were still going to be on the warm side of that front. But some showers with the front and then once it goes by, sunday night into monday, colder air starts to seep in.
