Meteorologist Michelle Grossman is tracking the damp and mild conditions today. As i was driving into work, a little bit difficult to see in some spots. We have fog all across the area. We have visibilities down to a half mile in many many spots. Youre waking up to a gray day, the fog, some rain across the area. You could see some fog behind that sign there. Youre going to encounter that as youre on the roadway today. Some visibility is reduced down to a half mile. Taking a look at radar, we are damp this morning. Seeing it moving through, especially in the western part of our viewing area. Well see that over the next several hours. So rain this morning and a chance for showers throughout the rest of today. Temperatures, they are very mild this morning compared to yesterday, 43. In philadelphia were in the 30 toss the north and west. 35 in allentown. Look to the south and east. Were into the 50s. 50 in Atlantic City. 52 in wildwood. These numbers will continue to go up. Its beginning to be a very mild day, into the low 60s. Probably not recordbreaking. The record for today is 68 degrees in philadelphia but it will be a warm one. By 8 00 47. By 10 00, 50 degrees. By lunchtime, we are looking at 55 degrees. Normal this time of year is 41 so were going to be well above that with a daytime high of 62 degrees. Well see clouds throughout the day. Also some showers. Tomorrow the medical examiner is expected to officially identify the body of Shane Montgomery. The Montgomery Family says divers recovered shanes remains yesterday afternoon. Crews found the body at the bottom of the Schuylkill River in manayunk behind the manayunk brewery at main street. Shane disappeared in the Early Morning hours of thanksgiving day after a night out with friends at a nearby pub. The family tells us the discovery means shane has come home after the long search. It was that moment that you kind of hoped it wasnt shane and that it was something else. But at the same time hes in gods hands. Police say they do not suspect foul play in shanes death. The family has not released funeral arrangements yet. They are asking for privacy. The second new York City Police officer who was gunned down in cold blood last month will be laid to rest today and a group of philadelphias men and women in blue will be there to show their support. Nbc 10s matt delucia is live in northeast philadelphia. The officers did this last week and some of them are going back. Talk to us about it. Reporter its a difficult trip to take especially doing it twice. Some officers are pulling into the parking lot here as we speak. Theyre heading inside the lodge here. Last saturday, a little over 100 members of the Philadelphia Police took the trip to new york to attend the funeral for officer rafael ramos. Officers outside the city also went including Camden County police upper derby, just to name a few. Today im told about 80 philly officers are planning to go for officer wenjian lius memorial service. Last week, so many people went from around the country, the philly officers couldnt get into the church itself, so they lined the procession route from the church to the cemetery. They plan to do the same today. You see some officers pulling in as they get ready to board the buses. Im going to bring in officer Bernard Turner and youre organizing this whole thing. Tell me why its so important to go up to new york now for a second time . Just to show the unity of our fallen officer, officers in the line of duty. It was very important to the officers of philadelphia. He asked me would i with kind enough to just oversee the buses as we go down. Hell be joining us today. But its just a great honor to honor an officer that was just so viciously killed in the line of duty. So thats why were going today. Were very honored. These officers that are attending today are volunteering time off, no pay. Just going down, off duty out of respect for the officers. Reporter and you did this last week. Tell me about the mood and just the experience of being up there for that . Just a very somber mood. Just 25,000 officers from around the country. Ive been doing this for approximately 30 years. Police officers and firefighters. By far the biggest funeral ive ever attended. Just a very gratifying moment for the procession to pass by us. Tomorrow the man accused of killing a state trooper and injuring another during an ambush is scheduled for a preliminary hearing. Eric frein is charged with the deadly shooting in september. Frein was on the run for about seven weeks before investigators captured him. New from overnight, Philadelphia Police are looking into a shooting death that led to a threecar accident. Take a look. Nbc 10 was on the scene of this crash along deli street in north philadelphia. Police say a man in his 30s was shot in the chest while driving his minivan. The vehicle crashed into two parked cars. We are in touch with police to get more details on this story. As soon as we have an update well pass it along. Also new from overnight, police in Camden County are trying to figure out who put explosives in a mailbox. Neighbors called police to report loud noises in the area right around midnight. Officers tell us one cast iron mailbox exploded. Nobody was hurt. This morning, Philadelphia Police are looking for the gunman wanted for murdering a limo driver who had only been on the job for a week. The owner tells us a passenger taken to de lancey street shot his driver last night. The gunman stole a cell phone and about 100 in cash. This by the way, is the third murder in philadelphia so far in 2015. Neighbors near the scene tell us theyre disturbed by this kind of violence so early in the new year. Weve had some issues on the 5400 block of de lancy street for years, but we were able to clean it up with the help of the 18th Police District and some Community Activism and it has gotten much better so kind of sad to see this occur on this block since it has turned around so greatly in the past. Police tell us they are interviewing the victims girlfriend, who was inside the car and witnessed the shooting but was not hurt. Pennsylvania state police have captured one of two escaped inmates. Timothy hostetter is back behind bars. He was picked up in schuylkill county. Right now, Raymond Martinez is still on the run. Investigators say the men set off a fire alarm at the wernersville communeity center. They managed to escape and got away in a silver minivan. We have new information about a shooting in camden. Nbc 10 has learned the name of the gunman who shot the woman and her father and then killed himself. Marquez johnson slashed the tires of his exgirlfriends car in pennsauken early yesterday. She called her father to pick her up. Investigators say johnson followed their car and opened fire hitting both of them. An officer then tried to pull johnson over after he sped through a red light, but johnson drove to the parking lot of Cooper University hospital where he shot and killed himself. While the woman is critical her father is in stable condition. Happening now, drivers on the pennsylvania turnpike are paying more to be on the road. A 5 toll hike went into effect at midnight. The new rates apply to easy pass and cash customers. The most common toll for a passenger vehicle will increase from a dollar and four cents to a dollar and nine cents for easy pass customers. And from a dollar 60 to 1. 70 for cash customers. This is the seventh time in ten years there has been a toll increase in pennsylvania. Search crews in indonesia are zeroing in on the missing airasia plane in the java sea. The new clue found this morning thats bringing them closer to the wreckage and more victims. A miraculous story of survival. How one little girl managed to escape this plane crash and where she is this morning. New this morning in the search for the missing airasia flight crews have found a fifth piece of debris believed to be part of the plane. Divers had to cope with bad weather and low visibility yesterday, but they think they have found the fuselage of the jetliner. Also another body has turned up. So far, 31 bodies have been recovered. That leaves 131 passengers and crew still missing. The flight disappeared one week ago on december 28th. It was leaving indonesia, but did not make it across the java sea. Meanwhile, in indonesia this morning, americans in surabaya are on alert. The u. S. Embassy has issued a warning about a potential threat against banks and hotels associated with the u. S. Officials say there is no connection linking the missing airasia plane and the threat. We could learn more about this plane crash in kentucky that killed everybody onboard, except a young girl. The ntsb is expected to arrive at the crash site today. 7yearold sailor gutzler walked nearly a mile in the dark and cold with no shoes through the woods to find help at the first house she reached. The little girl 7 or 8 years old, standing there bleeding. Legs and all scratched up. Arms scratched up. And she said her mom and dad were dead. And that she had been in a plane crash. Again we are expecting to get some more information today. What we do know at this point is that the pilot reported engine trouble, and then air Traffic Controllers lost contact. About 40 minutes later, sailor made it to Larry Wilkins home. Her parents, sister and cousin all died in the crash. Jury selection is set to begin tomorrow in the Boston Marathon bombing trial. The explosions left three people dead and more than 260 injured. On friday, a federal judge denied a defense request to delay the trial, so the attorneys could have more time to prepare.
