afternoon after he was stabbed at work. sky force 10 in bryn mawr after 10:00 this morning. the school was placed on lockdown. students were near the altercation. police credit school administrators with using a panic system a button that quickly alerted police to the situation there. >> it comes back to the system being activated. we know and they know when they activate that that's an emergency. that isn't a let's call and see if there was an accidental activation. all go into the response mode there's an intruder in the school and act accordingly. >> after the stabbing police say the suspect jumped on to nearby septa train. a man posing as a philadelphia water department employee ripped off an unsuspecting homeowner. the man knocked on the door in the neighborhood this morning. while he was talking to the homeowner homeowner, a the man went into the house and stole several items. no one was hurt. new information this afternoon about the murder of a chinese food delivery man shot and killed last week in north philadelphia. a 14 and 15-year-old right now in custody in connection with the murder, both are charged as adults. the 48-year-old delivery driver died last thursday making a delivery to the hill creek apartment. investigators say at least a dozen shots were fired. the man was hit in the shoulder. he died at the hospital. the suspects are charged with murder and robbery. we're getting a first look at a philadelphia mother accused of locking her four kids in a basement. charnae lee was arrested after police found her children locked in a basement of a home. the kids had been in there for 12 hours as a form of punishment. the two boys and two girls lived at a home on east atlantic street in kensington. well, they were locked in the basement the children had no access to food running water, a bathroom or heat. one of the kids had a cell phone that only dialed 911 and that's how they called police. firefighters had to break through a second floor window to get the children out of that home. >> i started crying. i was like what type of person does that to their kids? a disciplined man, honestly we're really shocked. it doesn't seem like something she would do. >> lee faces several charges now, including child endangerment. she says she did tell her children to go to the basement to punish them, but didn't know the door was locked. we're following developing news. he is still alive after getting buried under debris when that earthquake struck saturday. investigators in nepal say the number of people killed by that 7.8 magnitude quake has surpassed 4,000. today, we also learn that at least four americans are among the victims. well more than 7,000 people were injured, the number of dead is only expected to rise as crews get to mountain villages left inaccessible after the earthquake. thousands of displaced survivors have set up a massive tent city in downtown. nearly 2,000 homes were damage ld lded there in the quake. this is in video of search and rescue crews working in the city. these teams are using dogs to try to find survivors in the rubble. many rescue teams and supplies have not yet arrived. here's a look at the avalanche caused by saturday's quake that hit a base camp on mt. everest. watch as the camera pans up and an avenue languagealanche of snow and rocks headed right toward the climbers. at least 17 people died from that avalanche. some climbers are still missing. >> here at home doug shimell has been talking to local people with loved ones in the disaster zone. and doug you've talked to people in contact with their relatives in nepal. but their worries, far from over this afternoon, right? >> exactly. and most of the families we've talked to have said they have little or no direct communication by skype or telephone. for them, it's been social media only. >> can't talk to them, can't hug them. can't help them. >> the messages come every so often from val rogers children and grandchildren in nepal. >> yesterday, called me and said that the house is a little bit broken. >> her son kent and wife and their two children raised ten other children in the orphanage they run. and they have ten children in the orphanage next door with the loving arms mission. the massive earthquake in the aftershock that made it too dangerous to go back into the buildings. >> all the neighbors came rushing in. and so my son and his family, my daughter and her family and a bunch of neighbors are all living under tents and tarps on the basketball court. >> they worry about contaminated water and the spread of disease. >> my son and daughter are capable people. and will be able to handle the situation as well as anybody can. and will be -- both will be outside this monday afternoon. the nbc 10 first alert weather team tracking a warm-up. let's get the details on that. >> nbc 10 first alert chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. we could see a sprinkle as well? >> yeah, there are a couple of sprinkles on the radar. a lot of clouds out there, just about the entire area overcast like this. but very little in the way of rain. it's also on the chilly side. 59 degrees in philadelphia, the average high this time of the year is 68. so we're way short of that. 55 in allentown, redding, 54 in pottstown, and barely 60 in millville for the warm spot. now, as we go through the day, we saw a lot of clouds but not much in the way of rain. a few sprinkles up in the poconos and lehigh valley during the last couple of hours. so we're going to continue to see the clouds and breezy conditions but most of us will not be seeing any kind of rain. and the temperature only dropping slowly. the clouds start to break up later this evening. we'll talk about a big warm-up and also a potential nor'easter with the 7-day in a few minutes. >> 20 minutes of nonstop news continues now with an alleged drug smuggling operation busted at a local prison. >> investigators say at the center of it all, a corrections officer who was supposed to be keeping this kind of thing out of prison. detectives say that corrections officer smuggled heroin and prescription drugs to inmates for a fee. douglas is accused of working with family members or friends to get drugs into the lock-up. rosemary conners is live this afternoon. >> and during one transaction, investigators say the corrections officer brought his 4-year-old son along? >> reporter: that's right, jim and renee. the allegations that exact allegation is detailed in the criminal complaint. prosecutors say he was a correctional officer for only a short period of time. about six months when he started to become friendly with some inmates and got involved in a scheme that started in february. did you smuggle drugs into the chester county prison? is there anything you want to say about these allegations? is there anything you want to say to the community, your children? >> accused of doing the very thing he was hired to protect against at the chester county prison, douglas, a former correctional officer is now charged with smuggling heroin and xanax into the facility and delivering the drugs to an inmate a middle man who then distributed them. >> anything to say for yourself? >> yes, a lot of regret. >> the seven other co-defendants include inmates he allegedly schemed with and their friends on the outside. >> 21-year-old, the girlfriend of an inmate worked as a pharmacy tech at a cvs in burkes county and stole prescription drugs to sneak into the prison. the alleged fee, $100 each delivery. >> he brought a 4-year-old little boy to a drug deal. that's incredibly dangerous. >> he brought his 4-year-old son to pick up a delivery. it was the fifth and final deal after detectives had been tipped off. the district attorney tells me this kind of case is rare. but drug dealing in prison is nothing new. . >> what you're beginning to see now, as prisons are moving a i way from contact visits between inmates and civilians. that's how the majority of drugs get into prisons. >> i was there earlier today when a judge arraigned douglas keck on $75,000 unsecured bond. which means he will not be in jail, but he'll be at home with his wife and children. i talked to the district attorney about that earlier today and he told me it's not unusual in some cases. i'll explain why coming up at 5:00. reporting live in west chester, rosemary conners, nbc 10 news. >> sky force 10 over the camelot shopping center. where a car smashed into this business. only minor damage and no one was hurt. also, no word on what caused that car to lose control. one of the men apointed by new jersey governor chris christie to get atlantic city back on its feet is moving on. kevin ohr who helped detroit is returning to his former law firm. a spokesman says his position was also intended to be temporary. he'll leave at the end of the month. the governor's office has declined to say what or how he's being paid. the other manager hired alongside ohr makes $135,000 a year. their first report recommended cutting the budget by $10 million. they have not recommended bankruptcy. >> 20 minutes of nonstop news continues with new twists in the case involving pennsylvania's top law enforcer. not only has a grand jury recommended attorney general kane be charged with crimes. a court found evidence that she fired a prosecutor in her office out of retaliation. outside the montgomery county courthouse where kane's attorneys argued on her behalf. explain today's developments for us. >> reporter: well, her attorneys were here telling a judge of three, a three-panel judge that they believe that kane's decisions had to do with office restructuring. however, a special prosecutor in the case says this was a man who testified against her in grand jury proceedings and that he believes the firing was retaliation. those three judges now have referred that case to the montgomery county district attorney. >> i'm not going to comment on that now. >> was anyone else? >> i'm not going to comment on that now. >> the prosecutor in question james barker was fired in april. according to this grand jury report testified extensively to the grand jury that information released from a former attorney general grand jury probe was secret and should never have been leaked to the press. a special prosecutor named for the case and says he thinks criminal charges are warranted against kane and barker's firing. >> we will be working together on this case. obviously, this is a very serious allegation that has been laid at the feet of the attorney general. >> john mcmahon's role he says will be to prosecute kane if the d.a. deems there's enough evidence to do so. rejected claims from kane's lawyers she did nothing wrong. and, instead, ordered the information be turned over to the district attorney. the d.a. is not talking about the case tonight or this 27-page grand jury presentment. top aides say despite the concern, kane ordered a staffer to stop an investigation by a special prosecutor into the leak. one staffer said when asked her to investigate, she told them her office quote, had more important things to do. now kane's lawyer said over and over to us today that they wanted those documents released. however, when we called them for comment after their release after noon today, they said they didn't have one. reporting live in norristown, nbc 10 news. the six democrats who want to be the next mayor of philadelphia met for a candidate forum along independence mall. nbc 10 at the studios of whyy. the focus of the forum was leadership and how it relates to nurturing innovation and economic growth. >> the real role of government is services and allowing people to meet potential. >> those interested in making money don't do it in way that's unfair. >> this morning's forum was broadcast live. here is a look at the candidates vying for the nomination for philadelphia mayor. the winner will face off against melissa bailey. primary day, may 19th. uber hit the road today not giving rides but to launch a statewide tour to lobby against legislation. reports regulating uber back in march. ubeer sayses it doesn't agree with the bill's insurance provisions. if the bill passes, it may have to pull out of new jersey. parents searching for a place for their kids after a day care suddenly closed. it's a story you saw first on nbc 10. parents say they were given no warning. around 100 families are affected here. and parents say finding a new school in a few days is not enough time and it'll be a major adjustment for the young children. >> she loved her friends and teacher, and we'll have to start all over again. it's hard when they're little like that. >> school released a statement saying it's working with families to find all turntive child care. battling blight in delaware. nbc 10 where a state senator announced a plan that would allow towns to start land banks. they could then help communities or developers turn them into more neighborhood friendly places like new homes or green spaces. >> it benefits you can transition the properties back to productive use, clean up some of the crime and also property values go up across the city because of those effects. >> the legislation eventually becomes law, local land banks would be able to get first dibs on properties and also only have to pay the cost of outstanding leans against the property. happening now. opening statements underway. the trial of the colorado movie theater shooting suspect. you're looking live at the courtroom in centennial colorado right now. james holmes admitted to carrying out the shooting that left 12 people dead and dozens injured. a jury will decide whether he'll be put to death or spend his life in prison. his parents have pleaded for their son's life to be spared saying he's gripped by a mental illness. >> and in boston, tsarnaev jurors will determine whether tsarnaev will spend the rest of his life in prison or be sentenced to death. today an acquaintance of his older brother testified he said said -- the defense team has been trying to prove that dzhoknar was pulled into the plot by his older brother. we have breaking news right now from northwest baltimore where protesters have taken to the streets. some officers have been injured here centered around a mall in northwest baltimore which is for decades been a popular hangout for young people. these injuries apparently come on the heels of the death of the man in police custody that we told you about several weeks ago. the man's death has sparked days of protest. some of them violent against police in baltimore. friends, family and activists fill the church this afternoon. the reverend jesse jackson attended the funeral. the white house sen sent the head of the initiative for young men of color, sent him there to attend the service, as well. gray died a week ago after suffering a mysterious spinal injury while in police custody. the incident sparked protests including the pictures wes just showed you. as the investigation into gray's death continues. well we had a fairly chilly weekend, especially on saturday and especially in the morning. but we've got a really nice warm-up. it was chilly today, but the warm-up comes tomorrow. and into wednesday. also more sunshine what we've seen today, but a possible nor'easter later in the week that could affect our weather. we have cloudy skies now. still kind of gusty out there. not quite as windy as last week, though. 59 degrees, 16, gusting to 23. and with the overcast conditions, yeah that makes it feel kind of cool. it's in the 50s just about everywhere. 59 in philadelphia and in ben salem. one of the warmer spots. 60 in millville, 59 degrees in atlantic city and in stone harbor. now, we're going to be seeing temperatures way higher than that starting tomorrow. the average high is 68 for this time of the year. well we have that northwest wind coming across the area and gusting 20 to 25 miles an hour across the areas. last week many days gusting over 30. a lot of clouds coming down and that northerly flow. but very little in the form of rain. got some of it in central pennsylvania, but nothing more than a few sprinkles in the poconos and lehigh valleys. farther to the south, more severe weather developing in louisiana and nothing like what happened in texas yesterday when they had 20 tornadoes and hail the size of softballs, if you can imagine that. here's the future cast. we go through the night. you can see it generally on the dry side. and then it cools down into the 40s in many parts of the area. nothing too exceptional. and during the day tomorrow even with the north to northwest wind, a fair amount of sunshine and the temperature gets up closer to 70 degrees. may not hit 70 tomorrow. but we should hit it on wednesday. that's the storm developing along the gulf coast. and as the week goes on it's going to move up toward the north carolina coast. and then the question is, how far north does this rain get by thursday and into friday. more on those possibilities coming up in the next half hour. and for the rest of the night, we've got clearing gradual clearing. 46 for a low in philadelphia 39 north and west and a little bit of breezy too. more sunshine tomorrow and warmer highs in the mid to upper 60s. again, a bit of a breeze. but at least temperatures are close to average there. wednesday, we're in the 70s. there's the chance of rain thursday and into friday. best chance of rain of course is southern delaware and extreme south jersey closer to that nor'easter. and then look what happens over the weekend. looking nice. 70 on saturday 73 on sunday, broad street run, of course. the government making a big change to drinking water. what they say it has too much of that's damaging your teeth. and why it's taken them four years to remove it. police searching rooftops for the gun that killed this local football star. we're getting new details on the person who pulled the trigger still on the run. then the crucial (music) introducing the one-and-only volkswagen golf sportwagen. the sportier utility vehicle. we want to take you back out of the breaking news out of northwest baltimore where there were protesters on the street. now, we've pulled out from that shot. but you can see that certainly the crowds have thinned out from the way they were. just about ten minutes ago when we first took you to this shot. some officers though have been injured. and this all comes on the heels of the death of the man that was killed in police custody. a report just out about peco shows the economic impact the energy companies had on the state of pennsylvania last year. according to the economy league of greater philadelphia, peco had a $4.5 billion impact on the state in 2014. it also supported nearly 10,000 jobs last year. peco employees sit on the boards of more than 150 nonprofit organizations. all right. now back to our top story. >> it's a story we've been following for more than ten hours now. a deadly truck crash in the lower providence township montgomery county. the driver was killed earlier this morning when a tanker collided with another truck transporting cosmetic supplies. yes. it's a tough moment for us. >> the search for answers. a community grieves over the murder of a popular student athlete. now family members and friends of the slain teen. they just want to know why. and then coming up tonight on nbc 10 news at 5:00 raw sewage concerns. that's what motel residents say is being pumped into the back bay in this city. what health officials are saying about it. it's a tragic loss for the school community. >> right now at 4:30 heavy hearts in one south jersey community after a student athlete with a promising future in sports is murdered. 18-year-old bullard was a football standout. >> and knew the dangers of living in that city. family members say that's what drove him. he wanted to succeed so he could move his family out of camden. south jersey bureau reporter cydney long has been talking to family and friends of the slain teen. >> investigators trying to figure out who killed him. >> reporter: indeed they were. that's right. both the head football coach and the athletic director here at the high school where bullard spent the last three football seasons playing his heart out right here on this turf say students here today, not just at woodrow wilson high school but at two camden high schools are in tears. they're asking why jameer? and why now? >> jameer was someone that everyone knew and they knew him because he was a great athlete, but he was also the same kind of kid that cracked jokes and put a smile on your face. >> reporter: preston brown can't believe 18-year-old bullard will not step foot on the football field ever again. a junior who had just transferred to camden high had dreams of playing college ball. he was being recruited by temple university. instead, bullets shattered that dream. footsteps from a relative's home as he and a younger cousin walked to the store in the dark saturday morning. >> and when i noticed who it was, i tried to go to him, but the cops were already here and didn't let me touch him. so i ran to go get his father my cousin. >> today detectives climbed on to rooftops to search for a weapon or any evidence the killer may have tossed. whoever pulled the trigger with uz was in a car or ran away. students are mourning. >> these are tough moments for us. it's a tragic tragic loss for the community and we're here to ensure that students feel safe inside the school and have the support they need. >> students are showing support. brown was with bullard's teammates when he heard the news. his youngest brother was, too, murdered on the same street four years ago. >> every day that there's a kid that's, you know straddling the fence. and they may not want to. and that is you have to leave school safety net and environment and deal with things you might not want to deal with. >> i want him caught. you know you understand? this is a young man they took away with dreams to take his mother and his father and brother and sisters out of here. >> police would not tell me today if they've recovered any surveillance video or shell casings from that early morning. they did say they are not ruling out a possible connection to the shooting death of bright a young man also killed in camden 18 years old. that happened over easter weekend near midnight after a party and those two young men knew each other through playing sports here in camden city. live in camden. nbc 10 news. it has been a cool and cloudy day today. but not enough to stop these golfers from working on their swing. nbc 10 first alert chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is back now. >> breezy for the golfers. not a bad start to the week. things about to get better? >> yeah if you want it to get warmer, it's going to be warmer tomorrow and even warmer than that on wednesday. we've got a lot of clouds around during the day today. that's helped to keep the temperature down. 59 in philadelphia. our high so far, 60. the average high is 68. we're in the 50s across the entire area except for the 60 degrees in millville. and there are those clouds covering at least 90% of our area. but the coverage of rain is probably more like 1%. you can see a few sprinkles up toward the poconos, lehigh valley, that's about it. so we have the breezy conditions continuing into the early evening along with the clouds. but it breaks up a bit as we head toward the rest of the night. more on the warm-up. just how warm and also the latest chances for a nor'easter to affect us this week with the 7-day in a few minutes. some of the stories making headlines at 4:35. one person's dead after this head-on crash involving a tanker and tractor-trailer. at crawford road. this was in lower providence township in montgomery county. investigators say the trailer of one of the trucks detached and slammed into the other truck. authorities have busted an allege led drug smuggling operation at a local prison. investigators say a corrections officer was at the center of it all. douglas keck is accused of smuggling heroin and prescription drugs into the chester county prison to inmates for a fee. more trouble for pennsylvania's attorney general kathleen kane today. a judge released details of a grand jury report that alleges kane fired a prosecutor in her office out of retaliation. kane's lawyers have said the firing was not revenge but rather office restructuring. the case is now in the hands of the montgomery county d.a. police are investigating a homicide after a woman's body was found on the side of a road in new castle county. the woman's remains were found early sunday morning lying along the road in new castle. an autopsy ruled the woman's death a homicide. police aren't saying how she died. they also aren't revealing her name until relatives are police looking for two men who robbed a home. detectives say the robbers pulled a gun on the man outside his home ordered him inside and then stole cell phones. no one was hurt. the red cross is helping out three families following a house fire that injured an 8-year-old boy. flames started inside the home along north 18th street before 2:00 this morning. the young victim suffered smoke inhalation. crews rushed him to the hospital. investigators are now looking for the cause of the fire. philadelphia police are hoping you can take a look at this guy in this new video showing a suspect, they say, stole a man's wallet and other personal items from a locker at the planet fitness on adams avenue. they say the man then made a purchase at a nearby rite aid store. if you recognize this man, you're asked to call police. for years, many argued they were getting too much of a good thing. >> now the government has listened and they're taking action. now something's coming out of the water we drink every day. nbc 10 explains the reasons behind the government's decision. and next proof for your pooch. today, animal investigators visiting local neighborhoods and knocking on doors and want answers about your pet. if you don't have it it could set you back hundreds. then all new tonight on nbc 10 news at 5:00 paying for the privilege. we all have to pay for car insurance, but not all states are created equal. who's paying more in pennsylvania, new jersey, and delaware? we have some new information we want to get to you now. and the breaking news we've been following this hour from northwest baltimore. protesters were taking to the streets. we've learned that seven officers were seriously hurt at that mall in northwest baltimore. one of those officers unconscious. police say protesters were throwing bricks at officers. it all stems from the death of the man in police custody. well let's change the direction here. hiccups may accompany early warning signs of a stroke. and women, a new survey finds most women didn't know that and they're not aware of other symptoms specific to females. out of 340 women, about 10% hiccups combined with strange chest pains could be an early stroke signal. other warning signs include dizziness, headaches and numbness throughout the body. dog wardens knocking on doors this week. they want to make sure dog owners have current licenses and rabies vaccinations for their pets. under state law, all dogs three months or older must be loinsed edlicensed every year. if pet owners aren't in compliance, they may be fined. on to this now. today, a scare at school. >> a teen with a gun starts firing. the quick-thinking teacher who made all the difference. and next not quite enough. the criticism of some local universities. and where they're reportedly coming up short. then all new tonight on nbc 10 news at 5:00 another hurdle for the brand new owner of the former rebel hotel and casino. why he needs something important if he plans to reopen the complex to gamblers. will you invest in education? >> by cutting the corporate net income tax, the governor hopes to encourage more businesses to locate to pennsylvania. >> well all those clouds today have helped keep the temperature down. and we're not going to be seeing as many clouds tomorrow. one of the reasons we're going to be seeing a warm-up. and it's going to be even warmer on wednesday. but, we have a nor'easter that we're tracking. it's going to develop and it's going to be near the north carolina coast. question is how far north is the rain and winds going to come? we've got winds right now. it's a pretty chilly wind as usual. a lot of windy days lately. 59 degrees, 16 miles an hour gusting to 23. still not nearly as windy as last week. blowing the pollen around today is pretty high tomorrow's high and then it gradually goes down. especially if that nor'easter starts bringing us some rain by thursday or thursday night. well, right now, we see temperatures are in the mid to upper 50s. 60 degrees in millville and then it's in the 40s in the pocono mountains. northwest wind the sustained wind, 15 to 20 miles an hour. it's still up there. and i don't think the wind is going to die down very much tonight. the clouds though, they'll be breaking up. may be starting to break up already as you see in north jersey. and it's the heating of the day that's helped to create those clouds so they will start to break up. the isolated showers, well they're already breaking up here. we have more in central pennsylvania. a lot of moisture along the gulf coast, including severe weather. there's plenty of it in texas yesterday. but, the nor'easter is going to originate down here along the gulf coast. now, all those clouds not producing much rain but practically every reporting station is reporting overcast conditions except for dover right now. there's that storm developing along the gulf coast over the next couple of days. it starts to come toward north carolina. now, these things usually very often, come up the coast. but there's kind of a blocking pattern high up in the atmosphere that is going to be fighting this. and so the trend is for the storm to move more out to sea and just on the northern edge of this thing. so that's the story of most of the models today. and it will not take much of a change in the track to bring that rain up here and there are some models that suggest that. that's something we're going to be having to watch over the next couple of days. 46 for a low in philadelphia. tomorrow, more sunshine and today, warmer a little on the breezy side temperatures finally up near average. and above average, 72 degrees on wednesday. then that chance of rain thursday, thursday night and into friday. with that nor'easter. the best chance is in southern delaware. and then it tends to move out. and once it does clear, the temperatures go up, 70 plus over the weekend. looking nice and then closer to 80 early next week. >> all right. >> wow. >> that is a great forecast. >> well, if you can get the nor'easter to stay south of us. >> we'll work on that. thank you, glenn. it's the one ingredient that sparked debate for years. >> and now something's being done. today, change is on tap. what the government will be doing to our drinking water for the first time in more than a century. then all new tonight on nbc 10 news at 5:00, the national average is $800 but drivers in one state in our area are paying quite a bit more for the right to drive. new information about how much car insurance costs you by state. lets say this is your tv and these are the channels you pay for with cable but these are the types of channels you actually want to watch what if you could pay for what you want, and not for what you don't so you could get kids channels sports... or entertainment mix and match, or get them all. now fios brings you a totally new way to customize your tv starting at $74.99 -- including internet and phone. cable just gives you channels. fios gives you choice. we're getting in more information on the breaking news we've been following all this hour from northwest baltimore. protesters taking to the streets. now, these are new pictures where some vehicle here on fire. looks like fully engulfed. we have learned that seven officers seriously hurt. one of the officers in the altercation which taking place at a mall in baltimore. one of the officers unconscious, even. police say protesters threw bricks at officers and other objects, and it's all coming from the death of a man who was taken into police custody there in baltimore. we'll stay on top of this story for you. on to this now. the u.s. government lowering the recommended amount of fluoride in the nation's water supply. >> the reason. >> some people are getting too much of it from other sources. the department of health and human services announced today the new standard for fluoride in drinking water is .7 milligrams per liter. it had been 1.2 milligrams in some areas. health officials say too much fluoride can cause white splotches on teeth. >> about 2 out of 5 kids had tooth streaking or spottiness. today about 75% of americans get fluoride water. some are getting too much though, because it's also put into toothpaste mouthwash and other products. all right. nbc 10 news at 5:00 is next. >> here are jacqueline london and keith jones. >> all new at 5:00 what's going on behind an atlantic city motel? >> an nbc 10 viewer took this cell phone video and says it shows raw sewage being pumped into the back bay. what health officials are telling us and why it's allegedly happening. sheena? >> and a lot of clouds around today, but later this week after a warm-up, we may be looking at rain moving in. i'll show you the timing of the warm-up and the rain coming up. and a jeweler and a robbery suspect trade punches. and it's all caught on tape. who walked away a winner from this violent crime next on nbc 10 news at 5:00. we have new information on breaking news that we've been showing you and following for the last hour from northwest baltimore. protesters were taking to the streets out there. this was a car that was on fire. you can see the firefighters have gotten to it. now it was out of control for some time. seven officers have been hurt. one of the officers is unconscious. police say that protesters threw bricks at the officers. this stems from the death of a man in police custody. make sure you stay with nbc 10 as we continue to monitor developments on this story. and right now at 5:00 still closed in our area 11 hours and counting since two 18 wheelers crashed early this morning. the accident created a fire a chemical leak and traffic headaches for thousands of montgomery county drivers. the driver of one of those trucks was killed in the collision. cleanup crews are making progress at the crash scene, but the road remains closed. nbc 10's tim furlong is live near that scene in montgomery county. tim? >> right now, the police have identified the driver killed today. but you can see it's a ways from being cleared. penndot telling me they were told the road should reopen at about 8:00 tonight. that's when the investigation and the cleanup should be complete. >> there was like white powder all over the streets and there was flames in some of the yards. >> it was quite a scene here at 6:00 this morning after two trucks collided on a small, but apparently very
